Since writing my original glowing review, we've had a couple of issues with Urban Kitchen notable enough that I know I need to rescind my 5 stars. For one thing, we've stopped in since they resumed indoor dining and the service felt unwelcoming enough that we ended up walking back out. There was just no focus whatsoever on our arrival other than a dismissive wave towards an empty table by the one staff member available who was taking call-in orders. I do understand that take-out is still dominant right now, but it's disappointing to go out after so many pandemic months to very non-committal service. However, my other issue is actually more concerning. Sometime after writing my original review, my BF ordered a chicken sandwich for takeout/delivery and the chicken turned out to be raw in the middle. Fortunately, he didn't get sick. Went to this place for the first time, found it in my Yelp suggestions. The menu looked decent and had some veggie burger options, so we tried it. The Manchurian veggie burger was absolutely delicious! It was perfect!!! Highly recommend this. the flavors were strong and the burger was so filling ! Loaded fries were like Chhole samosa, just replace the samosa with fries! It was very good ! The chutneys gave me the Indian taste Jalfrazi chicken burger - my friend had this, loved it!! This is a great new find in East Bay Area. I knew that there are some gem of restaurants in Fremont/ Newark area and I was pleasantly surprised with quality of food that I ordered. This restaurant provides a modern take on American style Indian fusion food. Their menu has a lot of variety and you can find all types of items from Burger, pizza to kabob and Tandoori chicken. I ordered the Desi Fried chicken burger and fries. As well as naan pizza with chicken. They were both yummy. Fries had a tangy/ spicy taste and they were surprisingly crispy and appeared freshly made. They didn't have the soggy texture that you expect from a fast food place. Food was on salty side but Indian food tends to have slightly more salt. Overall it's a guilty pleasure to indulge in this junk food bonanza. I will visit again. read more

Had an opportunity to try urban kitchen yesterday. Loved the whole menu full of really interesting Indian fusion dishes. I went with the tandoori chicken sandwich which came with a side of masala fries, the chicken was marinated and cooked just perfectly. They have a great collection of beers on tap as well as Indian bottled bears. They have happy hour where beers are $3...steal! This was an amazing meal - especially for a soft opening, these guys did an outstanding job! Service was spot on, I called in and ordered the food - it was on time and it tasted amazing . We had the Kathi Roll Combo and the masala fries according to my son were the best he had had with the right amount of Indian seasoning. I stole a bite of my son's kathi roll which was scrumptious- a little on the smaller side but still quite filling and delicious! My chicken saag bowl with turmeric rice was hearty, totally hit the spot and was perfect with the yogurt - he very generously gave me cut masala onions which made my meal a memorable one. When I first looked at the photos of the food I was intrigued but when I looked at the menu I was soo lost and overwhelmed as I usually am when it comes to ordering Indian food. But on their menu they do have little symbols that show their "Must Try's" so that helps. Anyways, I ordered their chicken tikka masala tacos and it was PUURFECT:) Basically it's naan then their seasoned white rice, which pairs well with their dishes, then the tikka masala is topped with onions, cilantro and some sauces/chutneys and let me tell you these "tacos" are huge and so satisfying. I also tried their simosas which were basically potatoes and peas simosa and they were also bomb but you GOTTA have it with the sauce that comes with it and of course I always ask for extra. I also tried their creamy white chicken dish and I ordered it with rice and naan and that was pretty dang good too. Tho its a dish that I would not expect to find at an Indian restaurant but it go and I loved it with the rice and I can imagine it pairing well with some noodles as well. The white sauce was creamy and a little cheesy and was overall good. I absolutely love this place. Whether you want a chicken marsala burrito or a desi fried chicken burger with marsala fries, this place really delivers when it comes to Indian fusion food. The marsala burrito with mint chutney is definitely my favorite. I'd have their sandwiches/fries more if they weren't so spicy (but they're still extremely delicious). They're food is always hot and fresh. I only took off a star because the wait time can be pretty long at times. Once we waited almost 45 minutes for our food. I had DoorDashed from here once before and was impressed by the flavors so wanted to check it out in person. The location has ample parking and seating inside is great. Finally tried this spot after hearing so much about it. We ordered the desi fish and chips and the fried chicken burger with fries. After picking it up and going home (only about 10 min), the food smelled delicious but was unfortunately soft and soggy. The portions were also a little small, as I expected more for our $32 meal. The fish and chips were tasty but again, soft and soggy, but the fried chicken burger wasn't bad. Good blend of seasonings and spices. After rehearing the food in the oven, it was saved. This place had super awesome food. Inlike the idea of fusion. Sometimes you just ant to see peoples creativity in these new dishes. I like that it keeps the flavors real and doesn't try to overwhelm your taste buds. Next time I visit my friends in I need to go again and try a different dish. I want the hamburger next. The fires where delicious and did not shock me into confusion. Gave me the food happy dance feeling for sure! Must try it and the staff was friendly and used sanitizer prior to handing the food over. We have been there to eat several times and we love their masala soda, sandwiches and chai all the time. I just did a small catering order of chai, masala soda, paneer sandwiches and sliders and the order was on time and wonderfully packaged and service was awesome! My boyfriend and I planned on going to eat here for a while now. We especially wanted to support this local business during covid because of how good the food had been the last time we came and how friendly the service was. We called and ordered our food. The staff was as friendly and accommodating as ever. We were able to pay over the phone and we were even able to order a special loaded fries pizza that was not on the menu! We sat in our car and recieved our take out from a masked employee. We could not even wait to drive home to try the food because it smelled so good! I normally don't do this, but this time around, I chose to let the camera eat after me. We first began to tear apart the loaded fries pizza and the achari paneer pizza. Those two were probably our favorite courses of the night (I think I would chose the loaded fries pizza as the winner) and came with ketchup which was new for us, but such a worthy addition. Next, we tried the veggie manchurian burger. I had never tried anything like this before! It was delicious and more than enough for one person. I loved the filling of the balls and the sauce. Next, I tried the side salad which needed some more dressing, but was fresh. I will give them a pass on this because I'm sure the salad would have been better if we had dined in. Lastly, we tried the ras malai which we also had never tried before! It was so good! It tasted like a spongey cheese ball with sweet milk. This whole vegetarian dining experience consisted of new foods and we were not disappointed by any of them. The food was also not spicey, like I like it. Recently, we noticed that Urban Kitchen started offering a breakfast menu and we were really excited! We tried a bunch of different items, and our favorite so far is the Paratha; these are some of the best Aloo Paranthas I've had in a long time. Buttery and tasty! What completely missed the mark for us were the breakfast burrito and chilaquiles, both of which use the same basic filling and were extremely over-salted. Nasty, nasty and nasty. We came here to eat and at first we liked the place . It seemed ok. We ordered chicken masala and butter chicken and man! The chicken seemed a week old , slimy and dark brown on the outside and normal white from the inside . It was not fresh at all, the Naan was reheated maybe in microwave . We all stood up and exited without even asking a refund. On the way out , I decided to go wash my hand and face since I felt like vomiting from the food and the restroom was even worse and smelly that made me feel sick and more disgusted . The health department need to make a visit asap. That is dirty and filthy place . The only thing that we were able to have here is a can of coke since it wasn't cooked or made here. The biggest pro is that they deliver at lightning speed making them the place of choice to get some food delivered quickly. Almost every time we have got the Koyla Paneer, Vegetable Kebab plate and some sides. The Koyla paneer is fabulous. With paneer pieces in a creamy sauce the distinct flavor of coal makes the dish unique. It comes with naan that completes a meal for one. The kebab plate on the other hand is quite an elaborate affair. Tandoor grilled paneer, pepper, onions and mushrooms are served with naan, salad, chutney and rice. Customer service is important. We were semi-regular customers and enjoyed Urban Kitchen's tasty tacos and flavorful bowls. But today there was a takeout mishap that left us disappointed and we won't be returning. Of course things happen, mistakes are made, that's understandable. So it seems that someone else picked up our (Grubhub) takeout order. My husband asked where it was and they said someone else picked it up and showed the order to them. Weird. Could be an honest mistake. The problem: they didn't care about us and our order that we'd paid for. No apology or compassion for our ruined lunch. They said to take it up with Grubhub (which we did and their customer service was excellent). I'm just just saddened that we felt like they didn't care about us. (I've also felt this way in the past when picking up orders, but nothing went apparently wrong then- just short, semi-rude interactions.) I have been reading a lot about the poor quality of the food and agree; they seem to be drowning the food in sauces to mask the poor quality of the core ingredients. This place has a very cool atmosphere. It was pretty empty on a Monday night. But I can imagine it is a fun place to hang out later during the week or weekend.
