I've been to this store a lot and have had many different older guys help me and it's always the same annoying experience. Sometimes the younger guys aren't as knowledgeable but at least they don't try to boss you around or talk down to you....I'm sure it's a completely different experience if you are a man.........When my husband comes here - he always says it's a lovely, helpful experience for him - no matter which sales employee he gets.................... This store is the best in the area though in terms of size and sheer quantity of merchandise available! This store is massive and has the best golf selection in OC! They offer so many different types of clothing, golf accessories and new and used clubs. I've bought a few sets of clubs here both for myself and my kids and they are all top quality! I also like how they have a 3 month return policy and if you want to upgrade your clubs within 1 year you get a $699.99 credit for any pre-packaged Adult Package or Starter Set. I haven't used that for myself but I did take advantage of that for my kids. I also like their indoor driving range to try out new clubs. I've purchased clothing and golf accessories here as well and they have a super great selection and variety. Overall, I just wish the sales employees weren't so condescending to women.... but the younger guys don't do that as much, so like I said, just try to get a younger guy to help you if you're female and it will be a much more pleasant shopping experience! This is a 5 star store but if you're a woman you blatantly don't get treated as well as if you're a man - hence my 4 star review.

After trying a few clubs we determined to purchase a driver and a couple of fairway woods. We started discussing irons and Steve suggested that we wait to order those. He sent me to get a few lessons with a great PGA instructor and to work on my stance and swing. He shared with me to come back after those lessons and then we could figure out the "proper clubs" for me once I was able work on re-learning a proper stance. 6 weeks later I returned to the shop and we determined the correct clubs, shafts and hozzle angle to complete my set. When completed, I not only had a new set up clubs but improved my handicap by 8 strokes. Since that time I have moved out of state however I just ordered two additional clubs that Steve will be ordering and have mailed to me 1,800 miles away from the shop. I've never met a more knowledgeable golf fitter that puts his customer's satisfaction as his first priority. You won't go wrong working with Steve at the Newport Beach Golf Shop, I have sent others there and they had a similar experience.

Located in the middle of a business park is his store and the front of his storefront is full of putter grips and clubs in progress for clients that dropped them off for various services. I got his contact from No Bogeys when I was looking for someone that does wedge stamping as a gift for a good friend for his 30th and Christmas. He was very quick to respond to my suggestions and tell me what's possible and what wasn't and provide a quote for his services. For what I wanted to get done it seemed most cost effective to do laser engraving versus stamping per letter ($10/First Letter, $7/Each Additional Letter, Up to 15 Letters, or $30/Laser Engraving Spot). Gave him a picture of what I wanted along with an SVG file of Doodlebob and about 2 weeks later, I got a call from him that it was ready for pickup. The lines are crisp and I appreciated all the extra work he did to get the vision of what I wanted on the club. Definitely the place to go to customize your wedges if you need a custom logo or if the manufacturer of the wedge you want doesn't allow for many letters (lookin' at you Mizuno) or any letters at all (Miura).

We normally get our running shoes from another business where they're very knowledgeable about their shoes. Sejan was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. The experience was so good that I bought another pair of shoes for the wife, knowing that they were $30 cheaper at another store. At the time, I did not know if Dick's would price match an item if I found it less somewhere else. It turns out that they do, and I was later refunded the difference. Thanks Dick's, and a special thanks to Sejan for the excellent customer service!

Ordered a life jacket that was on sale for $24.98 via the Dick's app. I was going paddle boarding…read morethat day so I set the pick-up location for Newport Beach since I'd be out there later. I went on July 3rd around 1 pm so parking was horrendous. I parked near Barnes & Nobles and took the escalator down to the store. Before I entered the store I checked my order on my phone and noticed I got the wrong size. I walked in and didn't see a sign for online pick-up orders so just went to a register with a cashier. I walked up to them (there was young employee and an older employee having a conversation at the register) and let them know I was there to pick up an online order and the guy at the register looked up my order. As he was doing that, I informed him that I would need to exchange it for a large/extra large and he said sure. He went to grab my online order from the wall, came back and handed it to me and said have a good day and began busying himself with something else. I stood there for a few seconds and asked him if he could please let me know where these life jackets were located because I need to exchange it for a bigger size (second time letting him know this). He then said it was in the back corner and pointed to the back corner. Where it fell short for me is that I let him know I would need to exchange it and either it didn't clock for him to fulfill my request by going and getting the larger size and bringing it back to the register OR he straight up ignored my request and didn't want to go get it. I'm going to say he straight up ignored my request and didn't want to go get it. At that point, I would rather just pick my online order up from a Amazon locker type contraption, go to the back and get the correct sized life jacket, then exchange it and self-checkout myself. I'm against getting rid of humans for jobs, but if the in-person experience is worse than dealing with a computer screen, then I would rather deal with the computer screen. Also, I realize this is a store that highers young people, but it's a branding issue if you don't have pride in training your employees to go above and beyond. In this case, it would have been taking a few extra steps to go get the life jacket size I needed, bringing it back to the register and completing an exchange. Not a crazy ask in my opinion, and it's a standard customer service request and it was not busy at all during this time. It could've been better and for the reason of parking being a little more stressful than other locations and poor customer service, I'd suggest going to another Dick's Sporting Goods or Big 5.
