Urbane Energy is GREAT! Fast Service, Polite, Intelligent Staff. Did a difficult job running a new main and added a com line at no added charge. We even had conduit size changes and they just rolled with the flow and found a solution. Really a great contractor! read more

I needed someone to come out and see about a flickering light issue I was having and the woman who answered my call was extremely rude. It's frustrating enough to have an issues with your light source but to encounter someone who has an attitude when taking my information is just not professional. I wasn't even 2 minutes into speaking with her and she was irritable and quite the opposite of courteous. I took my business else where. read more

Fast, Professional, and courteous service. Had a short somewhere in our home that kept tripping our breaker and as a result, had no lights for a couple of days. UE came out and did a great job troubleshooting and pinpointed the problem. I was impressed they did it so quickly. Highly recommended. read more

We had some work done. It all works currently but later electricians note some if it isn't to code. It required lots of coordination on my part. Communication throughout was poor. On completion they asked for significantly more money than originally quote. They did much more damage to walls than discussed up front. They left my place full of garbage and dirty footprints. Now I can't get a response. read more

My wife & I recently moved to a new place. Almost everything is great, except we had this pesky issue where one of the circuit breakers kept tripping and shutting electricity down to one of the rooms. Unfortunately that happened to be the room where my computer was plugged in, randomly *hard* shutting it down. Sad pandas. I got introduced to Joe. He was quick to answer my initial text and was courteous & very friendly over both phone & text. He made time out of his day to stop by quickly to replace the breaker & the issue hasn't re-occurred since. It was a pleasure working with him and would call him again if any electrical issues arise. read more

I called Fergal because of all of the positive reviews and because the business information said that they served SF and surrounding areas. Was Oakland a surrounding area? Yes, it was. We had had previous electrical work done by an electrician who did good work but who gave us an estimate for subsequent work that was several orders of magnitude both above our budget and above other estimates we'd received. We chose Fergal and Urban Energy as our electrical contractors for our subsequent work for several reasons: a) polite, clear, and timely communication b) a fair estimate c) patience and respect Tom arrived promptly (ahead of schedule, and was politely waiting in his car until the time of our morning appointment.) He explained our options and the work he would be doing, and also estimated the amount of time that each work item would take. He worked efficiently and neatly, cleaning up after himself and leaving the work areas tidy. We were happy to have found a reliable, communicative electrical contractor and will definitely be calling Urban Energy again. I'm happy to answer specifics re: the scope of the work and the amount we paid through direct messages. read more

I called Urban Energy after experiencing power outages caused by an unwanted rodent. Turns out mice are a big fan of electrical wiring!!! Being a bit of a D.I.Y enthusiast, I decided to try and carry out the work myself. Awful idea, and I ended up getting an unmerciful electrical shock for my troubles. Reluctantly, I decided it might be time to get a proper electrician. (Well my wife decided really.) We called Fergal on the Thursday evening, and he arranged a time that suited us on the Saturday morning. In addition to the wiring job, he gave us a free estimate for an electrical dryer plug and the cost of installing a new kitchen fan. When he was finished he explained why the mice chew on wires (they use the PVC to sharpen their teeth) and what we can do to prevent future incidents (ultrasonic units). With my new-found electrical knowledge, maybe I'll be more successful with my future endeavors (unlikely though, knowing my wife). But if not, at least I have a new genuinely trustworthy electrician. read more

We recently bought a new apartment in the Financial District. As somebody who considers themselves pretty safety conscious, I just wasn't happy with the previous electricians work in our new place. We got the guys in to upgrade and install a new electrical panel. We also put in dedicated circuits to prevent against any potential surges.) Sure, we could have carried out the work cheaper with unlicensed electrician who isn't accountable, but that's a risk; and I don't gamble with electrical issues. read more

Great business model: courteous, prompt, affordable (cheapest of 3 quotes I got) Electrician had to come back after a part came in (1 day after main installation) and didn't charge for the second visit. They helped clean up/move furniture also. Very highly recommend this electrician contractor. read more

Looking for an electrician? I'd genuinely recommend Urban Energy for the job. We hired Fergal and the team to help us with our kitchen retrofit. We got in touch with some local electricians, but to be honest, they just weren't in the same league as these guys. So the job? We were putting in floor and wall outlets, lighting and surge protection. Although he told us he normally doesn't work with HVAC, we asked Fergal to install a Nest Smoke Alarm, which he dutifully installed. If I was in the market for an electrician once more, I'd definitely get onto these guys again. Five stars. read more

Fergal had been very helpful in getting a box set up in my condo with a ceiling fan. So helpful, in fact, that I wanted to engage Urban Energy for a bigger project in my building. I emailed over 2 weeks ago to request a quote, and I never got a response. I followed up a week ago with a voice mail, but that has not been answered, either. I know they do good work, so I won't give them two stars. But the silent treatment isn't exactly helpful. read more

Fergal and his crew were amazing. They helped expand our electrical needs at my small business. They were professional, punctual and courteous. I received a few other bids and found them to be highly competitive as well. Great job guys. Thanks. read more

First off, let me say that this is not my first time at the rodeo. I've worked with many contractors over the years, and almost all of my experiences have been sub-par. But FINALLY I have found someone with integrity I can trust. I called Urban Energy to fix an ongoing issue with some faulty light fixtures in my home. Not only did Fergal, the owner, pick up the phone immediately, he showed up the next day, gave me an extremely reasonable quote, and finished the job in less than two hours. He cleaned up after himself and left my place immaculate. I've already recommended him to several friends (for big and small jobs), and they've all had similarly great experiences. Thanks, Fergal! You rock! read more

We used Urban Energy Electricians for a small circuit rewiring in our basement. They had a cancellation so were able to get us down in the Outer Sunset in the next day which was a massive bonus. They were on time and got the work done to the standard I expected and with a great price to boot. Definitely my go to electrical contractor for future work. read more

We recently hired Urban Energy to do some work for our small office, as the lighting hadn't been touched in ages. Upon my walkthrough with Fergal, he made excellent recommendations as to more efficient lighting and suggestions as to what we could do to maximize the lighting in our industrial loft space. The quote they provided was also extremely reasonable, and for our non-profit this was an extremely important factor. When the crew arrived to start the job, they were professional, conscientious, and efficient. They got the job done in a reasonable amount of time and stayed very close to the quote. All of the guys who worked in our office were friendly but did not impede the work flow. We were very happy with their work and would absolutely call on them again for future lighting needs. read more

No response to repeated voicemails or online quote request. I contacted Urban Engery (based on excellent reviews) on a Wed or Thur during posted business hours as I had just purchased a Bot EV and needed a 240v garage charger installed. I left a complete VM outlining my needs, my contact info etc. Repeated this the following Mon or Tue and also completed their online quote request form as the website indicated this could provide an even faster response. Two plus weeks later and nothing from them still - nada, zippo. I can't speak to their work as I never got that fair but certianly to their customer service or lack there of - if they are too busy due to their work product, good for them, they have probably earned it. But a quick simple communication of any sort to just let me know they heard me - even a "due to unexpected high volume" auto reply would have been better than nothing - this is baseline customer service in my book. Needless to say, I won't be contacting them for any future electrical needs. And I did get my charger installed by another electrician with great reviews on Yelp - Pauric Electric. read more

They were very professional, prompt and reasonable ($80/hr). I was able to arrange everything via phone, email and text with Fergal and then Tom. They texted to check in and then sent an email invoice which I could pay with check or cc. read more

I just had my car charger installed by Fergal from Urban Energy. The reasons for 5 star rating: 1- The price is far better than everything else I have been quoted. 2- The punctuality, always on time. He let's you know if he is running 5 minutes behind. 3- He listened to my preferences. and provided me with different options. 4- He is licensed so when I asked for City Permit because of my HOA requirements, He had no problem doing that. (needless to mention other electricians once they heard about this requierement they either stopped responding or wanted to charge me just for the permit as much as these guys charged me for the whole job) CRAZY. I love these guys and I would recommend them to anyone. They are great to work with and amazing all the way around. Made the experience painless and enjoyable. Thank you Fergal for the great job you did. read more

Fergal and his crew did the electrical on our home renovation. They were prompt, professional and just really nice people. We would hire them again in a heartbeat and recommend them to anyone. read more

I have worked with many contractors as a realtor. I have had some bad experiences and some great ones. Urban Energy met my needs and lived up to my expectations. I appreciated the ease in communication, follow-up, and friendliness of the crew. Fergal really knew what he was talking about in regards to new technology and what would work best for our household needs. read more

We had 80% of our kitchen lighting MR16 fixtures give out and no longer accept new bulbs after 5 years of use. When looking for Electricians our landlord recommended his electrical contractor at Urban Energy. We contacted Fergal with Urban Energy who provided quick responses and initial self troubleshooting solutions before providing an estimate for what Urban Energy could do to solve the issue. I was able to speed up the labor time by sending pictures of the lighting fixtures to Urban Energy so that Fergal could arrive fully prepared to provide an LED retrofitting. Fergal performed the task under his initial time estimate and we now have a fully operational LED kitchen lighting system with dimmer. read more

The Urban Energy team was absolutely wonderful to work with on my first time renovation. Not only is he willing to do work in the city, but it's a huge part of his core business. He was always on time or early and prompt with sending quotes and communicating about my job. He installed ceiling lights in two rooms where I did not have overhead lighting with minimal drywall damage as well as split my bathroom switch to create separate switches for the light and my bathroom fan. He cleaned up pretty well and did all this work at a very reasonable and competitive price (I spoke to multiple electricians). I will definitely be using him again! read more

on time, fair prices, friendly, knowledgeable, prepared i highly recommend urban energy for all electrical work big and small he is a great guy read more

I have used Urban Energy twice over the past year. One was to retro-fit 13 recessed lights from incandescent to LED fixtures and the second was to help us with some remodel work that required an electrical permit and a licensed electrician who could make sure all of our electrical work was done properly and up to code. In both cases Urban Energy did an outstanding job. They are professional through and through, use good judgment and are reasonably priced. On both jobs, they showed up on time, were courteous, hard working and efficient. They did their work, made sure everything was working properly and left my apartment in a clean and orderly fashion. If you're looking for quality work, that you can depend on, at a reasonable price, contact Fergal Mac Donnell at Urban Energy. You'll be happy you did! read more

Was looking for an electrician to replace my pendent lights and decided to go with urban energy because the service was excellent and painless. I texted them on Thursday and they were able to come on Saturday in such short notice. They came on time and finished the job as promised in the quote. Then emailed me the invoice and I paid using Vinmo. They made my life so easy and would recommend them to anyone. Oh...and the quote is very competitive. read more

I am like Janis in her review, over the years I encountered many contractors. Some good and some better, then others, that are not worth to spend time on writing. Fergal and his staff have rewired and replaced 50+ year old lighting fixtures in our San Francisco house. They showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves before they left the house until the job was completed. VERY competitive price. I recommend him to friends and business associates who are looking for a dependable and knowledgeable electrical contractor. we could not be happier. Thank you Fergal read more

My family and I have worked with Fergal on multiple projects/remodels over the past couple of years at our homes and business. I highly recommend Fergal and his team! He has worked on various projects in our Bernal Heights home over the past year, and the workmanship each time has been superior. Courteous, affordable, prompt, professional, and experienced! read more

We worked with Urban Energy on a series of electrical issues at our home in Potrero Hill in San Francisco and we plan on working with them again in the future. Their electricians go the extra mile to provide great technical work and excellent customer service. This team is capable of doing very complex, state of the art work and all the basics. We even needed some computing components to make something work in our house and they took the time to help us select and install the right devices. We also had a consistent point of contact, Fergal Mac Donnell, and we look forward to working with him whenever we have an appointment. I would recommend these electricians to people who have very complex jobs involving programming, wireless, etc. as well as basic jobs like putting in extra outlets in closets. read more

I'm a homeowner who's done about $45K worth of home improvement projects on my Cole Valley apartment, half through contractors and half by myself. Fergal is the most responsive and competent contractor I've worked with, hands down. My father and I added a wall to divide our single bedroom into two bedrooms, and Fergal handled all our electrical work and lighting (about $6K). He gave us an honest estimate, responded to our questions and concerns immediately and competently, and finished the job exactly as we asked while contributing his expertise to improve the final product. He even threw in some extra installation work for free. Specifically, Fergal and his team installed 14 LED can lights, about 10 electrical outlets, and three fire alarms. When I called him about cheap LED lights I'd found in Home Depot at 9 pm on a Tuesday he gave me great advice - if you don't buy the best (what he provides) they'll probably start buzzing because of the low-quality dimmers. He was right! Everything he installed has been great, and the stuff I put in has only been mediocre. I highly recommend Fergal for any of your electrical work. He's the type of contractor you'd love to hire because he'll do the job right and finish it according to what you ask. read more

Fergal and the urban energy crew were great! I had a pretty tricky and not ur usual kind of a job. There were a bunch a small things around my house to do like removing old knob and tube, recessed lighting, & low voltage wiring which were fairly standard and a breeze for his crew. Kitting out my garage was the bigger job. This has been a work in progress for the last two years I have put alot of time and energy into this and am very picky about the way it was to be laid out. I use it as kind of workshop where I repair my own camper van, cars motorcycles. I have welders bench grinders plasma cutters etc that need the correct amp outlets wire gauges, breakers etc. some were even 220v. Fergal had no problem sizing everything, installing all the appropriate breakers and he put outlets in just about every corner of my garage. I was really nervous about passing our Inspection but we passed without a hiccup. Fergal seems to have built up a great reputation/relationship with the city building inspectors. I have also just started a new business that involves flipping houses and renovating properties around the bay. These guys are most likely going to be my electrial contractors. I need people that can get the job done! With no messing around. I don't mind paying for good clean work! If I had one complaint it would be I couldn't understand a thing he was saying with that thick Irish accent!!!! Kidding :-) lol I highly recommend Fergal and his crew read more

Recently hired Urban Energy as my electricial contractor for some work in the Mission District. Fergal was responsive and thorough. Would definitely recommend when looking for an electrician. read more

Excellent work in my home, dealt with our useless old wiring and got everything working perfectly (with some lovely modern upgrades). Always on time, always had the rights tools and parts with them (unlike others!), great people, easy to discuss things with, and excellently priced for what you get. I am extremely picky about details - these guys did a phenomenal job, nice and tidy, and definitely one of the most thorough and professional installations I've seen. I've used a few electrical contractors in the past - Fergal and the Urban Energy team will always get the call in the future. read more

These guys are great. They show up on time, work hard, clean up after themselves, and are a pleasure to work with.

Urban Energy did a very professional job installing new electrical in my garage for my new Tesla. My car came earlier than anticipated and Fergal was able to have Damien come out early Monday morning and get the job done well and promptly. It was quite exciting to plug the car in for the first time and have everyone working to my satisfaction. I would definitely recommend Urban Energy if you happen to buy an electric car or for other electrical needs. read more

Fergal has done good electrical work for me in my house and my shops. Definitely have to recommend him.

Very easy to schedule, prompt service, great price. Steve was my contractor and he was great!

Fergal, Joe and Gary were super helpful with installing our EV charging station in our condominium building. It was the first install in our building and the process took a long time, but they were always available with suggestions and comments. When the time came to install, they did it quickly and we are very happy with the install quality. read more

As a new owner of rental property in San Francisco, it was important to locate an electrician who was honest, on time, competent and reasonably priced. Fergal and Urban Energy met all of these requirements. Urban Energy was accommodating in meeting my schedule, prompt in returning phone calls and emails, and did the work required efficiently and without exceeding the agreed contract price. Best recommendation is that I'll be calling Urban Energy again when I need additional electrical work on the property. read more
