We knew we probably could not make changes to the size of our modest home, but we were convinced we could improve the flow. When it came to interviewing contractors, I was excited but still a bit gun shy because I had heard endless horror stories about dishonest contractors, sky high costs and 1/2 finished remodels. However, we knew very early on that Harding Design and Construction would be different. Throughout the bid process they demonstrated professionalism, consistency and open communication. We took Wes' actions early on to be a sign of things to come and after meeting with 2 other contractors we signed on with Wes. I would not say our remodel was a walk in the park; of course, we ran into the inevitable problems that surface when you open the walls of an old home (and remain living in the home throughout the process). Yet Wes, Mary and Aaron were with us every step of the way. I would be remiss if I did not touch on each of them for one moment: -Wes is methodical and professional. He never came to us with a problem he did not already have a solution for. -Aaron is one of the most meticulous workers I have ever met. He has an eagle eye for imperfections and the skill to fix them. -Mary's communication, design sense and ability to keep the project exciting (even when if starts to feel long) made me feel at ease and in control. By the time, the project was complete, what had started out as a kitchen/living/dining remodel turned into a whole house makeover! There is not a room that was not touched. I will tell you with conviction I could not be more pleased with the outcome. The functionality of our home has improved by 200%. Our house now fits our needs and family perfectly. Unfortunately, KC has changed for the worse...MUCH worse. Over the years, I've hired them for many projects, but would never ever use them again. I have also recommended them countless times to friends and associates but can no longer do so with a clear conscience because when you refer someone to a company, it puts your own reputation on the line. From there, he was able to design a plan that sequenced things perfectly, so could take advantage of all open walls/construction. Ken also presented us a number of options for the new space, which was very productive, and ultimately we selected a plan that was an evolution of the idea my wife & I had. Ken is a collaborative architect who has a great eye for homes. The construction process was the easiest I've ever seen. Despite having to demolish an entire exterior wall, there was virtually no dust outside of the construction area. The team built a full ceiling-to-floor plastic guard to keep our kitchen and living room livable. All of the workers were exceeding polite, and left no sharp objects around (due to the fact that we have little kids). We finished on-time and on budget.
