Native Alaskan Fry Bread with Pork and a Fried Egg
    LanChi N.

Decide to try this place during Food Truck Thursday's at Crystal City. Took me about 15 mins to order food and then another 15 mins to get food. When it was finally time for me to get food it took another 5 mins for them to figure out if it was the right order and for them to add the fried egg on top. When I finally got my food...the Native Alaskan Fry Bread with pork and a fried egg. My egg decently fried and still a bit runny. The slaw and tomatoes were fresh and crunchy not heavily mayo'd. The pork was tender and juicy. The frybread was soggy with all the BBQ sauce from the pork and the slaw. Nicely flavored but soggy. Texture of chewy dough. Overall decent flavors for a food truck although execution was poor and a bit pricey $9.00 +1.50 for a fried egg oh and plus tax about $11 and some change. If fry bread is suppose to be soggy and full of flavor then that's what this dish is. I'll probably come back to try other dishes and perhaps avoid the pork that was suggested by the person who took my order. Or I could just get fry bread yelp does give you a coupon for checking in.

Woo!! Water lantern festival! In the mood for some FOOD

Stood in line for 2 hours to get a subpar meal. The meat was really good and the overall concept of the food truck was cool. Unfortunately, the food was rushed and i ended up with a cut Up hot dog (it was supposed to be pork) in a cold brioche sandwich bun. No carrots in the banh mi and the cilantro was ripped straight from the grocery bag. The company clearly had bigger problems. They need to bring on employees or simplify their menu. They definitely need more space for all their ingredients, as they were constantly shuffling empty grocery bags and pots around. And seriously. Learn to manage their time. Maybe all the vendors had this problem. All the lines weThey took way too much on at this festival!

I did not care for this place. Everything was too sweet. The fry bread tasted like a glazed doughnut. The pork and chicken had a very sweet BBQ sauce and the Asian Slaw, like everything else was filled with extra sugar. The tacos came with a sriracha sauce and it was far from hot -- yep you guessed it-- sickeningly sweet. The service was relatively quick and woman taking my order was professional and competent. Overall I was going here for lunch -- and I was not expecting to get my dessert at the same time. Location: Food Truck Thursday-- Crystal City.

Interesting lineup on this truck from BBQ to Banh Mi. I ordered the Alaskan Asian Brisket taco for $10. Brisket was a little lean which was a shame. The sauce and toppings on the Asian Brisket are Banh Mi influenced with some pickled veggies and cilantro. The star of this concoction however is the Alaskan fried taco bun. Akin to a very chewy doughy fried doughnut. Slightly undercooked to perfection! Perhaps with a different topping this could be a go-to for me. Overall pretty good, I'd give them another shot and they cook quickly so the line moves fast.

Date: 07/12/2013 Whoa, new food truck to be found on North Lynn Street in Rosslyn, VA! The owner seems to be originally from Alaska, and the cashier is this nice Russian woman who told me her favorite to eat is the Urban Native American Taco ($9). Under her recommendation, I ordered an Urban Native American Taco with pulled pork and Jasmine rice. The fried Alaskan bread was filled with short-grain Jasmine rice; pulled pork with BBQ sauce; chili garlic coleslaw with edamame and carrots; pico de gallo with cilantro, red onions, and tomato; and finally all topped with (Japanese?) mayo. The fried bread was cold and too chewy. The rice was also cold. Pulled pork was juicy. But, overall... The entire dish was too sweet. And, if I hadn't added the rice for an additional $1, I'd still be starving... Three stars for now... I'm curious to try the Russian street food wrap.

this was amazing, lived up to expectations the Alaskan Fried Bread was tasty. Topped with braised brisket, which was soo good. Then on top of that, fresh cabbage and carrot slaw, cilantro, and a sriracha crema. The slaw is bright and crisp, and does well to cut through the richness of the bread and meat. The bread soaks up everything and you really need a knife and fork to eat this. The entire thing is like two open-faced sandwiches, and is more than enough for one person at $11 flat. Would probably try the other items next time but the fried bread was delicious. Apparently a Yelp checkin gets you a free frybread - good to know in the future.

    Chicken BBQ Banh Mi

It been awhile and this place deserves another star from my original review. I've since been back and tried most of their dishes to include "Smoked Russian Shaurma" and "Smoked BBQ 'Sandwhich'" which was given a Banh Mi sandwich treatment. As well as their egg-rolls which are filled with smokey meat and the "Alaskan Frybread Taco" which was tasty, but a bit of a mess to eat - however, doesn't most BBQ fall into this category? Today I tried the "Brisket Chili" and it was delicious. Perhaps a few more beans than are to my liking, but the flavor was great the brisket succulent. I also got the Far East Combo with smoked chicken. This places always hit's it out of the park on "smoke flavor" (without tasting scorched or burnt) and I appreciate that in my BBQ. With friendly owners and consistently executed, and good food the extra star was well (and easily) earned by Urban Bumpkin!

This place is so good! And now has Cotton Candy burritos with ice cream umm! They were out of the Russian Street Wrap bummer!

Try it all combo w/spinach bacon spring rolls!!!

I will admit that I was a little hesitant to try a food truck that served white rice with bbq. Being from Georgia, it is definitely not the norm. However, I was intrigued by the menu and sold when I discovered that they used a smoker to cook their meats! Something that is rare to find in an area that considers using a gas grill to bbq as the go-to method. *cringes*. The service was nice and the prices were decent for what was being served. On top of that, I received a punch card, which I will without a doubt fill up after this experience! I decided on the Try It All combo which came with pulled pork, chicken, and brisket along w/cole slaw and white rice. I also picked up an order of spinach and bacon spring rolls! The entire meal was awesome and the brisket...the brisket was soooooo good! The sauces and rubs complemented each other nicely and the white rice went along with it all very well. I will definitely be back and have put them on my "Must Eat Again" Food Truck list! I've finally found some good bbq in the DMV!!

I liked the modern industrial interior (exposed ceilings, cement floor), complete with bespoke woodpiles. Super cheerful service. BIG portions (with an extra side, each entree is a meal for two), everything hand-made, many nods to modern American cuisine such as the care they spend on sides and the well-crafted cocktails. Amazing how many things you can smoke. Now, drinks and food. Nothing liked a smoking whiskey cocktail, people sitting next to you will stare in envy (as well they should). Wife's grilled pineapple mojito was topped with such a large mint sprig, it was positively horticultural. Along with the complementary cornbread, a great start. My barbecue expert's half rack of St. Louis-style ribs was trimmed and plenty moist, with six BBQ sauces to choose from. Lots of pickle slices (cucumbers in any form are perfect with seasoned meat). I had the "signature dish:" plank-smoked salmon, wild rice & roasted Brussels sprouts, a superb adaptation of the art of barbecue to a healthy piece of fish. Interesting chat with Chef Darneille about the challenges of the restaurant scene. Appreciated his honesty, he appreciated our business. Even as he had a party of 60 to attend to (there were just enough tables to accommodate us). And, only a block from Metro, making for a short run through any rainstorm. The brisket was pretty good. Not the best I ever had. However, it had great texture and was thick cut. Dipped in their bbq sauce- it was even better. The grilled wings were great. Fat juicy drums! *I gave my aunt the flats, and she enjoyed them too. The brussels and esquites were great. Im not a big parmesan guy, but on the brussels it surprised me. The cornbread had a great texture as it was moist and held up nice; it wasn't dry and crumbly. I prefer my cornbread sweet though. Id pass on it next time. Upon request, the pickles were great, but the pickled onions not so much. They were more bitter and "onion'y" if you know what I mean (it tastes like they used white onions, the ones that go on hotdogs). Im used to them being a little sweet when I get them from bbq places and even Mediterranean spots. And lastly, I didn't like the blue cheese too much it was more bitter (im used to sweeter blue cheese similar to Ken's). Another thing I'd pass on in the future. Overall, the main courses and sides were good. I recommend and would go back again to get the same things and even try the white meat chicken.

Clean restrooms and tons of indoor seating. Loved their sauce bar- Alabama, Kansas City, Carolina style to make all the different bbq lovers happy. I agree with the sentiment of wishing they had combo plates as one sausage was like 6 bucks which is wild. Foodwise - tried the coleslaw, mac and cheese, jalapeno cheddar sausage, and the pulled pork. Best thing hands down was the mac and cheese - creamy but with great flavor and a great cheese ratio. Coleslaw was so so- good but some wilted pieces and was a bit thrown by the pickle pieces (though I love pickles). Jalapeno cheddar sausage was good but in my opinion, a bit overpriced for just one sausage. Lastly - the pulled pork. While not bad quality meat, the aftertaste was a bit off putting and I think the chips they may use in their smoker are just not my vibe. With the sauces, you didn't notice it as much but just on generic taste, not my favorite pulled pork in the area. Cornbread and butter were great - no complaints there. Overall solid spot- I'd come back for sausage, maybe try the brisket, but will definitely get some mac and cheese again.

He would occasionally pop over and help grill our meats when we became too busy talking instead of cooking our meals. We ordered the All You Can Eat Option A and you are given 1 1/2 hr. to eat, don't know how strict they would be with that. Unless you are truly hungry, I would order an à la carte dinner instead of the all you can eat option. I particularly enjoyed the thick cut pork belly, steamed egg and spicy tofu stew. There were a few small portions of Banchan to go with our meal and you would need to order additional side dishes of noodles or rice dishes separately from the all you can eat menu choices. There were tried and true hearty portions of meats to grill and it was quite filling. Nothing extraordinary but tasty and a nice place to visit on a regular basis if you want a satisfying Korean meal.
