HOLD ON A SECOND. - There's been a mistake. This is not small. But yes! Yes, it is. Such is the portion control at the Allanwater cafe. I couldn't finish my small fish supper. If you can finish medium, I commend you. Huge portions, great value and the efficient staff worked through the out-the-door queue with great ease! If you want fish and chips in Stirling, this is the place for it. - Most definitely!

It's a large portion, you get half a slice of a black pudding sausage, a full sausage (deep fried ), large pork slices which I believe was supposed to be bacon, and a fried egg and beans over a slice of bread. The local I was with wasn't too impressed but as this is my review, I think it was fine. We also came for dinner- ordered carry out fish and chips. I had high expectations for this place based on local reviews and experiences. I'm not quite sure what went wrong- it may have been the 10-15 min ride home that made the batter/fish soggy but overall I wasn't too impressed. The batter was bland and it was a bit alarming to watch how much vinegar and salt was added to the dish before it was served. The slab of fish was huge, however and you can easily feed 2 with the medium portion. Maybe the fish would have been better if I ate it right away. In any case, this place still gets 4 stars, weighted more for the breakfast.

It was busy, although not overly so and service was reasonably efficient, if a wee bit over stretched at times. I ordered a second bottle of Sam Adams and saw it sitting on the bar for a good 10 minutes before it made it's way towards me. That however, would be my only gripe. I went for a cajun chicken sandwich and the sister plumped for a jalapeno cheeseburger, both inhaled pretty quickly. The chicken was excellent, the spices just right. We got small and shouty a pizza from the junior menu and she enjoyed what she able to eat of it. It's maybe worth mentioning that the junior menu is probably aimed at kids at least 3 years and over. The portions are, apparently, non-negotiable which I found a bit odd. The lunch menu doesn't run on saturdays but is really good value if you're nipping in during the week!

He couldn't eat it as it was so dry. Server very kindly took it off the bill. I had the appetizer ribs & 2 sides of veggies of corn on the cob & green beans & pea pods. It was tasty. We ordered a vanilla milk shake and just laughed when it came and tasted it. It was frothy on top but was as thin as milk with a little vanilla ice cream flavor in it. Not thick or cold as most shakes are. We felt embarrassed and just paid & left.

The outside doesn't look too promising but inside it is small and cost. With a reasonable selection of fresh and healthy foods. The staff are also lovely and very obliging. It's nothing fancy but it definitely hit the spot. Friendly staff, cheap prices and a welcoming atmosphere to shelter from the rain. However, I am very tempted to make a return journey for the homemade ice creams available. They also appear to be good for children, as on leaving a large group of parents and small children arrived very excited for ice cream and the manager was great with them showing them to a table straight away and taking their ice cream orders. This is just a great little place to visit in Dunblane.

It feels more like a cafe which sells some foods to take out but I didn't get a chance to look at what they had at the front counter. It's small and a little run down but homely and there's a larger cafe area downstairs. The menu is fairly basic but has several options for the super peckish like mac and cheese or moussaka. We went for paninis with a side of chips and it was tasty, generous and reasonably priced. I don't know if I would call it a deli but it's a nice little cafe with lovely staff. It's nothing extravagant but the bashful far-too-nice owner truly does steal the show!
