AMAZING! Had a nice dinner here with my sister during our stop in Stirling. Everything was fresh and delicious. Restaurant is small but it was perfect. My only complaint would be the chairs were a little hard... lol. The service was nice. Food is authentic Italian. Homemade pasta was so good. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. It's been some years now since my wife and I visited this restaurant -- I'm not even quite sure if it's still open for business -- but in our opinion it's the best Italian restaurant we've been to in the UK. My friend and I traveled to Stirling in December while visiting Scotland. After touring all day we were tired and wanted somewhere to relax before our train back to Edinburgh. We didn't feel like pub food again and stumbled upon La Ciociara by chance. Both of us were skeptical about what level of quality Italian we would encounter. WOW we could not have been more wrong! I decided on the dinner deal with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. The Lasagna was fabulous, the best I have had. I still dream about the salted caramel shortbread dessert, which was warmed for us. The owner was so kind and a joy to speak with while having dinner. I also opted in for a cappuccino which was perfect with dessert. The only complaint I have is that this restaurant is so far away from home. If you are visiting Stirling this place is worth stopping. read more

My parents, boyfriend and I visited Stirling last weekend to visit the historical sites and, around lunchtime, we were peeping into every eating establishment left and right: a bland pub, a basic tourist restaurant, a closed restaurant, a coffee house. Nothing seemed quite right until we came to La Ciociara. It was brimming with people and, despite the full-on plugs for visiting Italy everywhere within site and my slight nervousness that it would be a fake Italian restaurant, we decided to try it and I was pleasantly surprised! Pizzas, pastas, and focaccia sandwiches for around £5 each were good deals, and there was also a pizza and pasta meal for two including wine for £11. It wouldn't break the bank, so that was good. When the food arrived, I was taken aback and humbled by my prejudgments: it was really delicious! The half dish of spaghetti carbonara was creamy and fantastic, with crispy bacon bits and without too much of an eggy taste. Now on to my half of the pizza. Wow! Delicious artichoke and Parma ham pizza that you don't find of this authentic Italian quality often in Scotland. Now on to a few tastes of my mother's motzeralla and ham focaccia sandwich. Yes! It tasted just like one I had in Rome last summer. I was really pleased with this place and it was a good find! I may even come back again from Edinburgh to try their buffet (Monday to Friday) to indulge my taste buds. The service could have been slightly more friendly and the ambiance slightly less tacky, but the food was great and a good find in Stirlng. read more

Two words. - Strawberry Milkshake! Why have I passed La Ciociara by so many times before?! Their ice cream looks to die for and there's a large selection of flavours, I'll definitely be popping by on a hot summer's day! (A girl can dream!) It's not too costly and has a real quaint, homely feel to it. I only popped in for a quick drink but I have a feeling the delicious milkshakes will be calling me back very very soon. read more

A Local, family-owned business that really knows how to make fantastic pizza. I like the cheesy decor and the selection of sweet things in the cafe down the front. I like that they offer San Pellegrino soft drinks, and I especially like the pizza and the pasta offers they do at lunchtime. The chefs here know a thing about classical Italian cooking - what they serve is plain and tasty. There's no frills because they know that good food doesn't need them. The service is a bit cold and the prices of the meat dishes are offputting. But I still bring my friends and family in here for pizza and we've never sent a thing back. The lunch deals are great value for money and you will leave feeling satisfied. I usually get pizza with ham and artichokes, or pasta with italian sausage, chicken, and tomatoes. They're generous with the pizza toppings, and the base is delicious. read more

We were looking for somewhere for lunch with friends and kids, it was suggested we go here. Service was quick with regular checks to see if we were Ok. We had the salad and pizza, the kids had the pasta, they all had there meals without complaints so it must have been Ok. Topped it off with ice cream and coffee. Very slow at getting us the food but they stopped by the table to apologize that it was taking so long, so I'm going to assume that doesn't happen often. And the delay was well worth the wait. My lasagna was delicious and everyone else at the table was very happy with their dinners well. read more

I was looking for a place to eat around the city centre and I found this, which seemed like a small café. At first I wasn't very convinced, but I was tired and decided to go in. I really had a very good time. The place is very nice, the waiters as well (and the manager/owner) and of course the food. I ate a breaded veal (which made me nervous) and found it was really tasty. I will definitely return if I return to Stirling next year. read more

Delicious food and fantastic service in Stirling Old Town. We came needing a quick turnaround, to get out by a certain time, and the kitchen was able to accommodate. Half pizza / pasta combination for 2 is highly recommended. Rare to find both a comfortable home feel and efficient service when needed in the same restaurant! read more

We've had two Christmas dinners here on consecutive years for a university sports club and never been disappointed. Dealt with large groups very well and set Christmas menu was really tasty! Nice staff and present venue right in the centre of town. read more

Top notch, but personable service, reasonable prices and delicious food make this a 'must visit' for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The owner greeted us in a way you'd greet family and made us feel like we were having lunch in his home. This is a rare gem and we will definitely be there again if we venture near Stirling on our next visit to Scotland. read more
