My family (2 adults, 2 kids) rented four bikes for an afternoon. The gentleman at the store spent some time with us showing us how to use the bikes, fitting us for the right size, etc. He gave us 2 locks to use while we were away, and he gave us directions to where we wanted to go. The first problem occurred when we went to lock up the bikes, and the locks weren't long enough to fit around two bikes. So we were annoyed that we hadn't been given four locks. So my husband missed our activity so he could babysit the bikes. The second problem occurred when we got back on our bikes to head back to the shop, and the chain came off the gear on two of the bikes. I called the shop for help, and someone tried to walk us through how to fix the chain, but it wasn't working. I asked if there was a way to FaceTime, so he could see if we were doing what he told us to do correctly, but he said there was no way to do that. I asked if they had any employee who could meet us and fix the bikes, but that was also not a possibility. So my husband and son walked their bikes back to the shop, because they were no longer able to ride them. Luckily, we weren't extremely far, or we really could have gotten stranded. My husband emailed the company privately to explain the situation, and the response he got was that "without pointing fingers, it sounds a little like user error." This had literally never happened to us, and the response was insulting and entirely inappropriate. "Without pointing fingers," they totally pointed fingers. I would never rent bikes from this company again - their bikes do not work well, and then they'll blame you for it. read more

The owner treats customers rudely, with bad actitude, sending to fuc*** the costumers and without helping to someone who had a inconvenient due to their faults for reservations. Some other staff persons are more polites that this unhappy poor guy. Plus the prince is really high..is better and cheaper get the Citibank bikes for just $10 all day. Don't waist your money and time using this place. More cheaper and better options can be founded. Don't use this poor service. read more

Great way to see Boston and get a real feel for the city. Our group was pretty large with 25 tourists, but they had 3 guides for us. Bikes are quality and they make sure the bikes fit the person. Water is also provided. 2.5 hours went by fast. Guides had lots of God information and context. You do rode on city streets but nothing felt scary. Check in on yelp for free water bottle. read more

We wanted to see Boston from a bike, so i called to explore a cycling tour, the price to rent bikes for 2 people was MORE than the price to take a Helicopter tour over Boston for 3 people. Their prices are OUTRAGEOUS and their Customer Service is DISMAL. Sadly service starts at the top and the Manager, ANDREW, has NO Service Spirit at all, he is a DEAD PERSON WORKING, he shows up physically "sometimes"(he was very difficult to connect with) and unfortunately, each time I finally did connect, Andrew acted clueless and psychologically CHECKED OUT. I got the impression he hates his job, he doesn't respond to emails and he treats customers (potentially repeat customers) like they are a burden. I would Never do business at URBAN AdvanTours again and I highly recommend you find an alternative or go in knowing you will be treated like a commodity. read more

tl;dr A broken community bike pump (given/placed by this company) gave me a flat tire, and my experience at the store ensures that I will never come back to this place to spend my money, or recommend it as a store to anyone else I know who cycles. Confession: I came here for a less-than-preferred reason, and so while I really wanted to have a good experience at this shop despite some of the other unfavorable reviews listed I came already a little disappointed/upset. Earlier in the morning I had gone to the Whole Foods Market on Cambridge street because I had seen there was a bike pump. This pump has a pretty official looking sign that has the Urban AdvenTours sign (picture to be posted later). Now, this is partially my fault because I didn't check the pump before using, but instead of filling up my tires back to their normal air pressure the pump instead let out the rest of the air that was in them. Thankfully I don't work too far from there, so I locked my bike up, and talked to site management (because I really didn't want to get my bike towed/removed just in case I had to leave it there overnight; there's a no-overnight storage/lock-up at that plaza) and then walked to work. This afternoon I went to their bike shop which is about a 15 minute walk from where I work. This was my first visit and their shop looked pretty well kept and well stocked. I usually go to another bike shop (not sure if I'm allowed to say which, but it's in Cambridge by Naco Taco) for my accessories/tune-ups, and I might have been a repeat customer if this experience had turned out a little differently. I told the sales associates about what happened this morning and while I did receive some condolences, it felt somewhat shallow and there was no hint that they were thinking about really doing anything to help my situation. I was asked if my bike was with me, to which I responded "No, it's still at the Whole Foods because it has a completely flat tire", and then directed me to their hand pumps. After looking through the options and finally selected a model I went to check out and tried to see if there was any promotion/discount/some form of "hey, I'm really sorry this happened to you on something with our name on it. Here is a voucher for ____". Or, I don't know, quickly called the owner/manager to see if anything could be done. Or even if one of them volunteered to bike to where my bike is locked to fill it for me so I can ride home after work. What I got instead was a, "that pump is there as a community donation/resource from Urban AdvenTours and so we don't assume any responsibility with it." After asking how often the pumps are checked and receiving a "about once a month, but bike pumps that are used a lot tend to break more often" (so why don't you check them more often? It's only going to help the community if it functions) it just tells me that as far as customer service, they as a company don't have a great attitude or compassion for their customers. As I mentioned before, this shop is pretty close to where I work and had this situation turned out a little more positively I more than likely would have been back as a customer in the future. I love my bike. I use it daily. I'm at my preferred bike shop at least once a month. Instead, I'm now writing this incredibly long review of their disappointing customer service practices (not really sure how this would be classified, but maybe that's close enough) and, as far as I can see, never go back to this company/store to spend money or recommend any other cyclists I know to spend money at this company. I write this review sitting on my couch far too late in the afternoon on a Sunday. I would gladly get up and be productive (total lie), but I have the sorest bum in Boston right now. The reason for the sore bum is my totally productive Saturday afternoon that I spent biking around Boston on a tandem bike. Back story: I came home after some adult beverage indulgence one night. I had a thought process that went along the lines of "I should check my email. Oh, Living Social has a deal for a tandem bike ride. Tandem bike ride sounds AWESOME! I can definitely do that sometime this summer". And thus, the drunken Living Social purchase was complete. And forgotten about. Perhaps I had a few too many adult beverages. So when I logged on recently, it was like Christmas. A Facebook status was put up and the first taker was granted my company on a tandem bike. My partner in crime was all about it. In December when it's warm enough you don't want to go inside but cold enough you can't stand around, go rent a tandem bike. Seriously. The boys at the shop were incredibly nice and helpful. They had us trying out the bike and only laughed a bit when my friend crashed us into a stationary bike. They were even nice enough to give us a lock in case our plans included some stopping. The original intention was to use the tandem as means of transportation for a pub crawl, so that was going to come in handy. We crossed the park to hit up the Harbor Walk to get accustomed to our tandem ride. Even though we almost bowled down a few toddlers, after about 20 minutes we were getting used to it all. We decided to bike along the Charles while we waited for another pub crawl update. By the time updates came we were having too much fun yelling "TANDEM" at people along the esplanade that we skipped day drinking for exercise. Not only that, but we kept purposely missing bridges to keep the ride going. Once we did finally cross, we may have amused ourselves by performing a tandem work out on an outdoor gym. I could go and and on about the great times we had on the ride (and continuing the tandem theme for the rest of the night). My friend and I are already planning on a repeat adventure. Hopefully we'll be able to find another deal, but it would totally be worth it to pay full price. If anyone else is interested in pairing up with matching outfits and incredibly high amounts of obnoxious behavior, you should probably join us. read more

The personnel was very nice but the rates were extremely high. I would not go back to this place. If you are visiting Boston just rent a city bike and save $40. We asked if there was a tour guide and they told us that it was an additional cost, which is fine but at least offer something. You had 4 employees standing around doing nothing. read more

So extremely Disappointed by this Tour- giving 2 stars mainly for how sweet and friendly everyone was but this is probably the worst tour I've ever been on. First, a family was late and we waited a half hour for them which is ridiculous. It's already a two and a half hour tour, they ask you to get there a half hour early on top of that, and then to wait an extra half hour for people is disrespectful of people's time. Then, we passed right by The North End with no comments on the history of it or pointing out of any statues or monuments. Saw Boston Garden and the bridge, stopped on the Charles River and got history on MIT which was very strange. Like, who cares, were in the city that sparked the Revolution and you're telling us about an eclipse on the MIT dome? Weird. Rode through BU and Northeastern campus, weird, then cruised through Copley Square and Boston Common with just a cursory side note about the history. Paused at Fenway with no time to take pictures, they didn't even tell us about Fenway mainly about the school across the street, weird. At the end, with a beautiful view of the harbor and the wharf, what do we talk about? Tea Party info? No.. Places to eat! Literally that is what Yelp was invented for, not what I paid $58 for. Also just an FYI, they issue zero refunds, no matter the excuse which is BS. It's 2015, so many things could happen, my friend got sick and I got a card to use the bike tour again if I want, which I definitely don't. If you're in Boston, skip this tour and walk on the Freedom Trail for free. read more

This is a review for the bike shop ONLY. Not thrilled with my tune-up here. The mechanic was really friendly and asked good questions when I dropped my baby off, but when I went to pick her up, he wouldn't even talk to me. As soon as I left, I noticed that one of the problems I'd brought up was still a problem. I called the shop back, and THEN he was ready to talk to me. Additionally, I had bought an online coupon deal for my tune-up (intending to scope the shop out and decide if it was worth long-term patronage). At least three times, people at the shop made comments like "Not bad for $35, huh?" Yeah, I guess not, but I was looking for "Not bad for $65", which is how much a full-price tune-up is. That's the whole point of a coupon--to get the same service for a lower price. All in all, not very impressed. read more

Highly recommend if you are wanting to see a lot of Boston but feel limited on time and want to get in some great exercise while learning some interesting facts! Hands down great experience. My friend and I were able to see parts of Boston we did not get a chance seeing on our own and learned some cool tid bits. The info. they give you isn't boring history facts where you are left wondering, "when will this ever end?". My favorite part was biking down the Charles River. We were lucky to bike on such a gorgeous day. Be prepared to bike through traffic and a lot of people but no worries, the guides are extremely careful and helpful. Be sure to wear sunscreen if you do this activity on a sunny day. My back was sunburnt but..... it kind of needed to see some sun :-) read more

Rented a pair of hybrid bikes for the weekend of 2/18. That's right, the middle of winter. Don't overthink it - I clearly didn't. Rental amazingly quick and painless. Typically rental places will make you sign your life awayand take you what feels like an hour to get through it all. Not so here. We signed our lives away in less than 10 minutes flat! Maybe I shouldn't be so proud of that... but don't overthink it - I clearly didn't. Bikes were in a cool black and green color scheme, and come with Kryptonite U-locks and Bell helmets. Very comfortable for our 5 hour journey around the Charles. Lots of gears: 3 on the left handle, 8 (!!) on the right. I didn't realize bike technology had advanced beyond my 13" Huffy Sport. Back then, a lightning bolt sticker on the side was considered cutting edge. Back to the point. Only one qualm about the bikes: unless I missed them, the bikes don't have night lights/reflectors. Normally nobody would be winter biking when the sun sets at 3PM, so it might not be much of an issue. Worth noting in case it's an overcast day. Guys at the desk were helpful and friendly both times I was there (on pickup and when returning). Very willing to share info on where to bike to and places to see. I rented the bike for one day on a Saturday but couldn't return it on Sunday because they were closed. And I really didn't want to pay for a 2nd day. Solution: Dan: "Can you bring it back Monday morning?" Me: "It's President's Day, so yea no problem" Dan: "That's fine. Just bring it back Monday" Me: "AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWESOME" Dan: " ... " Me: "Don't overthink it. I clearly didn't" Dan: "Whaa... here's your bike, you're all set" Again, maybe it was because nobody else was renting a bike in February. But the service was quick, easy-going and efficient. Boston's becoming a bike-friendly city because of places like these that make it a breeze. read more

How do you see a strange new city if you want to get some good guidance about the hidden, out-of-the-way cool stuff as well as the mainstream spots, but don't want to get on one of those enormous buses that somehow cram themselves down crowded streets? Bicycling's a great way to get a more leisurely view of the streetscape, and Urban Adventours make it still better. With friendly guides who make the trip between stops fun and informative, even if you aren't an avid bicyclist, you'll have lots of fun even on the few uphill climbs. What's really impressive about the staff is that they're plainly experienced riders (i ride, and ride in the city all the time so i'd like to think i'm an okay judge), but also that in addition to being bike tour guides, they have other jobs too. That connection with the fabric of the city really gives them a lot of fun perspectives on the history and sightseeing, both modern and ancient. The route (the City View Tour) is a pretty easy one that doesn't expose you to too many bad intersections or anything like that, and the guides do a very good job of shepherding you through. As long as you can ride in a relatively straight line and pedal a low gear, you can totally do it. Like i said, there's a huge difference between sitting on a bus and getting out and really getting the feel of a city (even when you live there). They both leave you with photos, but one's likely to leave you with a lot more to remember. read more

This place is fabulous! I've been on two tours now, one nighttime, and one daytime ($50 for 2.5-3 hours). I live in Boston, but I've taken my mom on the tours with me, and we've both learned a lot. This is by far the best way to see Boston. You get to almost every neighborhood in Boston proper, and see tons of sights, both touristy and not. You definitely have to be in mediocre shape for the daytime tour (there are a few hills, and altogether there's about an hour and a half of riding), but in no way do you have to be a pro cyclist. The tour caters to all ages and fitness levels, and the tour guides do a great job at continuously checking on the group, and making sure everyone is caught up. And make sure you have a good lunch before you begin - there's no stopping for a bite to eat! There's a brief explanation of the bikes at the beginning, and the tour guides are experts at helping you or answering any questions. Another great thing is that you'll ride for 5-10 minutes at a time, and then stop and get off, while you enjoy the scenery and learn about Boston. You'll do this multiple times, with plenty of time to sip water and enjoy the surroundings. Bring a camera and sunscreen! There are little tote bags on each bike so you can stash your stuff with you, and they provide water bottles and spots along the route to re-fill. The bikes are great (hybrids), but make sure to wear padded shorts, or you'll be pretty sore at the end! (The seats are pretty narrow). Definitely check this tour out. You won't be disappointed (and afterward you can hit the ICA, Faneuil Hall, the Aquarium, Quincy Market, or the North End...all are within walking distance!) read more

My boyfriend and I did this tour on our first trip to Boston this past weekend. It was certainly the highlight of our trip, despite the bit of rain we endured. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. They have all been "Biking around Boston" for many years! We got to see so many wonderful areas of Boston that we would not have on our own. It wasn't the standard tours, we got to see a few hidden gems as well. The bikes were comfortable and we felt very safe with the staff guiding us through the city. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing the sights and sound of Boston. I can't understand why anyone would want to be stuck in a bus and traffic to be driven around town from place to place. Boston is very bike friendly and this tour is really the way to go! We did the Boston City View Bicycle Tour a Tuesday afternoon at 2PM and had no problem joining the group without prior reservation. We were group of 9 and got the friendliest of tour guides who was also highly knowledgeable! The tour lasted a little over 2 and 1/2 hours and took us through about 11 miles of Boston downtown. If you are squeamish about riding for so long, let me tell you it's not hard at all. The tour provides you a hybrid bike with a little bag on the front to put your stuff, cold water in water bottles and bike helmet. A really nice touch is that the tour has another person come along and take pictures of the tour and then post them online for you to save them and add them to your trip album at home! My wife and I rented bikes (no tour) about a week ago so we could ride around the city and head up to Arlington to ride the Minuteman Trail. Urban Adventures made the rental process hassle-free and put us on easy to use hybrids that made our day a lot of fun. The PROS We got in, got set up, and got going in less than 15 minutes. They were very organized, their bikes and equipment were all well-mainted and ready to go, and their staff immediately made us feel very comfortable. We rented Globe hybrids, which were very easy to use for anyone with even a small amount of bike riding experience. The $35 daily rental fee per bike included a helmet (yahoo - safety!) and a bike lock which were both handy. The CONS This may be a nit, but I didn't like having to pre-pay the reservation fee. My wife and I had considered renting for a second day, but their pre-pay requirement nixed that idea pretty quickly. The SKINNY There are some great places to bike in Boston and Urban Adventours is a wonderful place to get going quickly. And, their helpful and friendly staff should be able to make inexperienced riders quickly feel confident. read more

We have done several tours and rented bikes also. Tours are fun and informative and the staff is always helpful with advice if you're riding on your own. We will continue to come back. My only complaint, the seats are not quick adjustable so if you're riding on your own you can't change the seat height. If you're on a tour the guide has the tool to do it but bikes would be better with quick adjust seats. read more

Pretty much the coolest tour I have been on. Haven't ridden a bike in about six years, so I required a little extra patience from the guide while wrangling myself up Beacon Hill, but other than that, the ride was not too strenuous. It was really exciting to bike on the actual city streets, and I respect the amount of faith that the tour guides have in their participants to not be idiots - I enjoyed the tour more because I felt safe, but never fawned over. I felt that the amount of time on the bikes and off the bikes was perfect - just when I would start to feel a little exerted, we would have a nice informational break and then get going again. Had a slight problem with rain for about ten minutes, but the guide handled it expertly (we ducked into a coffee shop and had a quick bite to eat) and had us back on the road as soon as it was safe. I felt it was a very comprehensive, interactive tour of Boston and we covered a lot of ground and information. My only issue was that the man we booked our tour with told us we could put our guide's tip on a credit card after the ride, but when we came back, the woman told us we needed to go to an ATM, which wasn't super close and had a $3 surcharge. A way to tip via credit card would be nice, or I would at least liked to have had that info before we left so that we could have handled it then. Highly recommend! Will be looking for bike tours in every city I visit from now on. read more

I went on a bike tour yesterday and despite the overcast weather and smattering of showers during our ride it was awesome! My husband and I and an out of town friend took this ride with our knowledgeable tour guide, Mike. We were all a bit nervous as we had not been on bikes in years- but the ride was enjoyable and not too strenuous. Having lived in Boston for almost ten years I was surprised to learn so many new things about this city! What could be better than enjoying boston and getting your work out in at the same time? I will be setting up more tours for my friends in the future! Definitely a great way to see the city- and a much more intimate feel than other tour of Boston I have been on. read more

I was signed up and all ready to take my tour through Boston via bicycle with a group from Yelp, really looking forward to the experience (especially since it was nice and sunny for the first time in a few days) and when I eagerly arrived and announced I was with the Yelp group, the gentleman at the desk looked puzzled and said "You mean the group that went 2 days ago?" I missed it... and learned the importance of reading emails thoroughly for details. I was totally disappointed (and mad at myself) but remembered reading on their website they have Thursday night group shop rides and asked if I could join, I was determined to get on a bike. Not only were they happy to let me join, first timers are given their first bike rental - free! Once they found me an appropriate bike and helmet and I changed into more appropriate clothing - we were off. Craig and Doug were my guides and mentors (I was the only one who came for the shop ride) and they were phenomenal! First off, they were so nice to offer to go out for a ride with me and gave me tips and hints throughout the ride on shifting gears and navigating through traffic. I was a little nervous about riding through the streets when we started, but because of their assistance and advice, I felt comfortable so quickly. I know I was holding them back (getting used to starting and stopping and shifting on hills and declines) but they were friendly, outgoing, helpful and really made the ride so enjoyable. What was to be a 7 mile leisurely tour around Boston became a 20+ mile ride through the city. It was the best mistake I could have made! I will be bringing my new (to me) bike in to have it serviced and look forward to future shop rides - I have told so many people about it and have many friends eager to go. Urban AdvenTours is fantastic. We booked a City View Tour last minute as we wanted to explore the city a bit, but also get some exercise. The guides were great--very knowledgeable and kind throughout the tour. When you arrive, they fit you to a helmet and bike to make sure you're comfortable for the ride. I never felt uncomfortable on the city streets, there were dedicated bike lanes and traffic let you by. We did about 11 miles all told over 3 hours--the pace was very manageable. We felt like we saw a lot of Boston and learned some great facts about the city. Would 100% recommend! read more

When I got the opportunity to do a bike tour with UA through Yelp, I jumped on it. I love biking! I love Boston! I love riding zippy bikes that aren't my small, mountain-bikish tank that makes pedaling up a small hill feel like climbing a sheer cliff! Craig took us on a short tour (7 miles round trip) of the waterfront on a foggy, cold May evening. We rode in the middle of rush-hour traffic, which isn't new for me but was for many Yelpers on the tour. Craig and co. handled it with ease, as one of them waits for all the bikers to safely pass as we cross a busy intersection. We stopped by South Station, the design center, the ICA, and Columbus park, learning interesting tidbits along the way. We were a unique group in that most of us have a good working knowledge of Boston (most of their customers are from out-of-town), but Craig handled it like a champ. I do wish we had done the tour that explores more of Boston, like Back Bay and Harvard, but I don't think that would have fit into our designated early-evening time frame. Love the bikes. Like a doofus I almost fell over the first time I tried to get off (I have a step-through bike, which these bikes are not) but after a couple minutes' practice riding and getting off I was good to go. They're obviously well-loved bikes that don't look brand new, but the shifters were functioning properly, the seat was fine (not the cushiest, still OK) and the tires looked good. I would make a disclaimer that anyone who isn't moderately comfortable with their biking skills should NOT go on this tour. If riding in a city scares you, even if there is less traffic than our tour, you would probably be too nervous to enjoy the sight-seeing aspect of it. But if you can handle it-- do it! It's a great, unique way to see a city-- I would now like to do this in all future cities I visit that offer it--and it's super fun. read more

Urban Adventures is first class operation. When out of town guests are visiting this is one activity that we recommend our guests participate in if staying downtown for a wedding or an event. Since mists guests who fly into Boston for a wedding do not find it necessary to rent a car due to the convenient trolley and bus system that exists here. This is a good way to get some much needed exercise and to your the city. Bikes are prevalent in the city so cars, busses and pedestrians are used to them being on the road and many do pay close attention to share the road. They provide a tour guide ( or a few, depending on the size of your group) so you feel safe and don't get lost. If you're a tourist and looking for a great way to see the city, I highly recommend Urban AdvenTours. I live in the city and decided to be a tourist in Boston a couple months back. $50 seemed pricey, but the tour is well worth it. You get to see a bunch of different neighborhoods in 2.5 - 3 hours. We had Ed as a tour guide who only runs tours once a month, but is essentially some ninja tour guide - awesome! He knows a ton of Boston history, set clear expectations on each leg of the tour and made it fun. I really liked the fact they don't nickel and dime you with the photos either. They take pictures of everyone (or at least try to) and then make them available for free - very cool. read more

I took part in a comped evening tour around Boston with a group of fellow Yelpers and was pleasantly surprised! Let me preface this by saying prior to the tour, I hadn't been on a bicycle in literally three+ years. That fact, coupled with the knowledge we'd be biking on actual downtown Boston streets was enough to leave me a little apprehensive. However, once we got "fitted" for bikes, were given a helmet and filled water bottle (for keeps!) and a safety demo, I felt super confident in our guides. For our group of about 15, there were 3 Urban AdvenTours guides with us. One led the pack, one trailed, and one rode along side, blocking turns so we could all safely cross intersections and generally being on the lookout for the group. Even though we were on main roads downtown for a good part of the tour, I felt completely safe and confident in my guides. The pack rode for miles, stopping periodically to get a history lesson on the landscape, city and architecture. The night we rode was dismal (rainy and cold) but it was still a great time and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend the ride for a unique way to see the city. $50 seemed a little steep but it was money well spent. What a great way to see Boston! We also did a duck tour while in Boston and what the other reviewers have said is right, you really get a different perspective on a bike. If you are visiting Boston I would highly recommend doing this on your first day in Boston as it will give you a good overview of the city. From there you can decide what you want to go back and see again. It also gives you a great understanding of the city's layout so you wont get lost traveling around afterwards (whether by foot, bike, or subway). Our tour specifically got off to a little bit of a slow start (a dad and 2 kids on our ride that were VERY slow), but the tour guides were flexible and after a few stops we were able to split up (they had 3 guides for 6 people so the ratio was awesome!). Anyways, overall a great day and a great way to see Boston. read more

Picture this: a cold, grey evening in Boston with a light mist in the air. What may seem like an unpleasant time to do anything outside was actually an incredibly fun night for a group of 15 Yelp Elites! We were all taken on a phenomenal tour of the seaport district by the general manager of Urban AdvenTours and two of his colleagues. Despite the weather, we were all pumped to take this unique ride through the city we all love. I'm not gonna lie - I was slightly terrified to ride a bike through Boston during rush hour, but our guides mastered the traffic and kept us all safe and entertained along the way. We made various stops along the 7 mile route to learn some history of the city. Being new-ish to Boston, I was more than interested in everything our guide had to share with us. it made me realize how many fascinating nuances were scattered throughout this amazing city that I've come to love. Needless to say, I finished the tour with a full mind and a sore butt. I can't wait to go on another tour with some friends and family when they visit! read more

This was a wonderful experience. It's a great way to see many beautiful parts of Boston while having fun cruising around on a bike. I loved riding through the Esplanade, seeing Beacon Hill, the South End, the Christian Science area, and Boston Commons. There's much more as well. I was lucky to ride on a beautiful day in September when the weather was sunny and 70 degrees I agree with the previous reviews and there's not much else for me to add. My tour guides were Gabe and Greg and they were friendly, knowledgeable, and had a good sense of humor. They also made sure we were safe while on the road. read more

I love riding bikes and find it to be the best way to see a city. In the past month alone, we've done guided bike tours in San Francisco, Niagara on the Lake and Boston (Urban AdvenTours). We are not avid road cyclists, as I prefer the more leisurely approach on a crusier with a basket and bottle of wine or two! I booked the City View tour through Urban AdvenTours and my husband, who is the very cautious (border line paranoid) one was not happy upon our arrival because of the busy streets in Boston. There were 22 in our group and we had 3 guides. Everyone was personally fitted with a bike & helmet, and a water bottle. This process was very efficient and we were off and riding in no time. Also, each bike comes equipped with a zippered canvas bag (on the handlebars) to safely secure your personal items during the tour. Our guides, Ken, Ralph & Lexi were outstanding! #1...They kept us safe (that made husband happy). #2...They were very knowledgeable about the history of this fantastic city and its many restaurants (we asked for suggestions). #3...They made sure our day was captured in photos (they took many pictures of us along the route- which made me happy). At the end of the tour, my husband exclaimed, This was by far the BEST bike tour we've ever done! We can't wait to come back and try another tour offering through Urban AdvenTours...I'd really like to do the Emerald Necklace or the Bikes at Night tours.
