The up at 5, it comes with eggs your way ( I always do scrambled with cheese), bacon , 2 link sausage, 2 slices of French toast and silver dollar pancakes. I will sometimes get their grits , which are stone ground and usually yummy! Today I had water and coffee but I often get their orange juice which is fresh squeezed! We love this place. It's our go-to breakfast spot. The food is always solid. The space is comfortable. The parking is plentiful. But it's the service that makes this place *our* place. I have a specific way I order my tea, but I don't have to spell it out for them. They know me and remember me. They ask about my son, who's away at college. They ask how I'm doing after recent surgery. They know how we like our hashbrowns. All that is worth a lot to me. What I like about their breakfast food is that it's "normal". They don't add kale to my eggs. They don't stack it all up in a food pyramid. It's good, solid, traditional breakfast food. This should not be interpreted as boring. They've got a great menu. They did crumble and fall apart but could be easily scooped back up with some syrup! The bacon was oven-baked which gave it the perfect melt in your mouth texture that I personally love. I was just at Uptown Cafe with my husband. We came in, and even though we were seated promptly, the server just ignored us. She saw us, but she acted like we didn't exist. She didn't speak to us at all. She saw us, I know, because I made eye contact with her. She just disappeared in the back and didn't come back out, except to check on a table of about 5 people. We were her only other table. I know this because besides that table and us, that entire area was empty. We ended up leaving because we couldn't order anyway. We had stopped going there for years for the exact same reason, and we decided to give them another try since the food is good, but if you can't get any service, it's not worth it. We told the hostess what happened. She couldn't care less. We'll never go back there again. read more

Was in search for a restaurant we haven't tried for breakfast before and found Uptown Cafe on Yelp. We arrived just before noon on a Sunday. The place was busy and packed. We were greeted immediately and gave them our name. We didn't wait long before they seated us. The restaurant is divided into three different spaces. We were seated in the space farthest from the entrance. I believe it's their overflow seating area as well as private party seating. The restaurant and its restroom were both clean. We ordered the following: Up at Five $9.19 3-2-1 Breakfast $7.49 Monterrey Omelet $9.69 Coffee (2) $2.89 I ordered the Up at Five and came with two X-large eggs any style, one slice of French toast, five silver dollar pancakes, two all natural applewood smoked bacon strips, and two sausage links. What more could you want?? Everything came out fresh and as described. There was so much food in one plate, I couldn't finish it all. My son ordered the 3-2-1 Breakfast. It came with three X-large eggs cooked to order, hash browns, stone ground grits and choice of toast or biscuit. He ate every bit of his breakfast and said it was delicious. The hubs got the monterrey omelet which came with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and goat cheese. He thoroughly enjoyed his omelet. The coffee was good. The Uptown Cafe is a decent option for breakfast/brunch. I dropped by a few Saturdays ago for breakfast. The wait time for a table was quick, as there was one ready to go. Reggie was my waiter, and he was great with the service. The wait for the food was a little long, which is attributable to how fresh it came out. I ordered the Sunrise breakfast, along with a hot chocolate. The Sunrise is comprised of hash browns, 2 sausage patties, scrambled eggs, and toast. It was standard, on par with what you'd expect, but still good and fresh. The hot chocolate, which came in a fancy Irish coffee type of glass, was good as well. At the end of the meal, you're given your bill, which you pay at the counter by the entrance. Overall, I recommend coming here for your standard breakfast options. It was (last) Saturday morning and I was in the mood for pancakes, syrup (lots) and eggs... I found this cute little restaurant on Yelp (of course)... I am a fan of restaurants that give you a "homemade" feeling. It is massive, and needless to say delicious... If you are like me, you will need help (to attempt) to finish it... I love black coffee, because... there's no other way... Uptown Cafe's is very very tasty, their cups are smaller than at other restaurants, I lost count after my third cup of coffee. I obviously order the "Up at Five" that Saturday, I was surprised of the size of the plate and how delicious it all looked... I quickly realized I was not going to be able to finish it by myself... But man, did I try!!! Servers are very nice, the place is clean and has a "warm" atmosphere. Soooo.... next day (Sunday morning)... I went there again! This time I took my boyfriend, there was a line, 30 minute wait, but we were willing to be patient. He ordered the "Up at Five", obviously he was able to finish the whole plate, he also loved the food and the place. I ordered the "French toast special", I was not disappointed at all, I took half of my french toast home and we ate it later in the day. I have been to Uptown Cafe two times now and have been very happy with both visits! There was no wait either time and the food was brought out relatively quickly after ordering. It is a very casual cafe with no frills and decent food. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come here but am always happy to stop by when I am in the neighborhood. Most of the menu is very reasonably priced and for large portions. I got the Sunrise Breakfast with turkey sausage and they let me sub a bagel for toast. I also appreciated that they listened when I requested scrambled eggs very well done considering so many breakfast restaurants do not. I also loved the fresh squeezed OJ but it was not cheap - a small glass cost $4. There is plenty of parking outside as it's in a huge shopping plaza. read more

We ordered through Uber Eats - our appetizer of fried green tomatoes was an excellent, fresh take on a classic. The feta and pesto were wonderful! We certainly recommend them! The fried chicken was really great - the vegetables and potatoes that came with it were tasty! The chicken was fried to perfection, nice and juicy. Even the mushroom gravy was very good! I was incredibly annoyed that the Uber Eats receipt had the side of collard greens I added and the receipt from the restaurant did not. We did not receive the side, yet I was still charged for it. The restaurant didn't answer their phone and no one from Uber Eats responded. At least my credit card company got back to me, but essentially I have to wait. The fish and chips were just okay and not my favorite. I am not a fan of coleslaw to begin with (that's why I added the side I paid for but did not receive) and my opinion remains the same. The coleslaw with the fish and chips was sweet and I'm not exactly sure why. Overall, we may or may not order from Uptown Cafe again. read more

It's cheap and the food is ok. I ordered the steak and eggs through Uber eats for breakfast and I maybe had unrealistic expectations. The eggs were fine and the steak was cooked medium (not medium rare as requested) and was very chewy. Very, very chewy. You can honestly get a better steak and eggs and Waffle House. We also ordered corn beef hash and eggs and weren't much more impressed. For $10.95 we got a couple dollops of hash (other places in the Area give you four times the food for the same price) and three eggs. It was ok yet not ok. That's it. Pretty sure they'll need a spend $20 save $8 special for me to try it again. read more
