I would hate to be "the system" at UPS as it is regularly blamed for every screw up imaginable. Just this week, I had a final attempt delivery scheduled for Thursday to which "the system" said an attempt was made even though I was literally there all day and no stickie was left behind. The good-luck-getting-ANY-specific update online "track a package tool" noted this as a first attempt - READ they can't deliver the package but some one found time to mismark is as a first attempt?! Hence, the very same package was to be delivered on Friday. However, "the system" said there was a mechanical break down - come to find out that apparently with truck broke down at 10:30am but was not loaded into the system until 8:30pm that night. The customer service reps had no idea because "the system" said the package was in route and I got to twiddle my thumbs all day only to be disappointed again. So Saturday rolls around and the very same package is out to be delivered. All day long, the good-luck-getting-ANY-specific update online "track a package tool" said it was out for delivery and, of course, the customer service reps did too because "the system" said so. Needless to say the package was rescheduled for Monday - NO REASON GIVEN. It's Monday and I am still waiting...and waiting... and waiting.
So, to put a nice bow on this, UPS, who lauds its technology, seems to have lost the plot. Not only do customers flounder seeking some, any actionable delivery information alongside employees who don't know what's going on either AND are powerless to do anything even if they identified a problem. Add a healthy dose of ineptitude (e.g. regularly missing delivery dates, not collecting signatures when required, don't have enough staff hired to do the job, etc.) along with the gaming of 'the system" and it's any wonder they are in business at all. It would be comical if they weren't WASTING our time in the process. It's clear that UPS (aka Big Brown) don't know or respect their customers and that their "the system" is broke. read more
