Refusing to let a client choose a different stylist and claiming it's "policy" when it isn't publicly stated--is not acceptable. Instead of working with me, I was spoken down to and told, "I've worked at many salons, and this is how it usually is." As someone who has been getting blonde highlights for years, I was shocked by both the quality of the work and management's unwillingness to make things right. My appointment was marked as a "no-show" because they said it was scheduled 45 minutes earlier than when I arrived. However, I showed the receptionist my confirmation email that clearly listed my appointment time as the time I arrived. She said she didn't know why I received that, but they could take me as a walk-in -- only if I paid full price, meaning my deposit wouldn't count. It's frustrating because if the stylist was available to take me, and I had proof of the appointment time I was given, it feels unfair to lose my deposit over what was clearly a mix-up. I've waited over 30 minutes past my appointment time here before without ever complaining because I understand things happen. But apparently, that same courtesy doesn't go both ways.
