I thought most of my massage could have been done by an amateur. My husband's massage was good. Unfortunately, we foolishly got 3 more massages for my daughters the next day. About two months ago my low back was locked up, I had walked out of the Chiro in the same location Kokohead marina feeling no relief. I spotted Upper Thai, and remember my family trip to Thailand, and how beneficial the massage technique was. I was a walk in and luckily they had an availability. Iris was available and she put me through the entire program 90 min, which I highly recommend, and I will tell you after leaving, I was a new person, walking and feeling like I was going to be ok. I would Highly recommend this place. Fast forward to today, I hurt my back playing with my grand kids and decided to go to the VA, besides it corelated with my annual checkup, they could only offer a surgery consult, pain medication and PT, not a fan of pharma. I have an old injury to my low back from my tour of duty in the Marine Corps. Due to long waiting periods at the VA and the debilitating nature of my injury, I remembered Upper Thai, so I called in and was able to get an appointment. This time with Noi, I was in no position to be picky as I was in a lot of pain. Noi went to work on me, She is pleasant and professional, and as the time passed, I became aware the 90 min time slot was coming to an end, yet I felt like she knew where the pain was coming from and was making good progress, so I asked her to extend the time, and she allowed it. Words are not enough to describe how much better I feel, and my pain has dramatically been reduced, so I scheduled a follow up, her recommendation was three days. I booked it on the spot and am so grateful for her healing hands and knowledge. Noi is the owner, and defiantly knows the body, and how it functions. I am so encouraged and confident I am on the path to healing. Ohhhh this sweet gem in Hawaii Kai. Where do I begin? If you haven't had a Thai massage before... then it's hard to even describe the way your body will feel afterwards. It's a combo of stretching, movements, and massage that leaves you feeling fantastic afterwards. I am soooo freaking excited that this place is legit 5 mins from my home. I had a rough day at work and needed something to help both my body and mind relax. I called and they had an appointment available.. 30 mins later I was on that table forgetting about my crazy day. Nice people, but disappointed repeat customer... on 7/25/2022, I called and made appointment for 90 minute Scrub and Massage ( which is advertised as one of their services- of which I received there 3 times before). I arrived as scheduled, and as my therapist started a few minutes into ( something did not seem right...as previously my therapist has done my scrub first here). I then reminded her that I was to receive a 90 minute scrub/ massage... to which she told me "No" the lady who set the appointment did not tell her scrub and she has appointment right afterwards so can not do! First of all scrubs do not make appointments longer, and after completion of my massage I could clearly see there was no appointment (totally Untrueful to me). I still gave her a 30% tip...Out of professional respect, I called back next day to inquire about what happen, and lady that answered phone and spoke to me stated "ohhh" and they are not doing scrub/ massage combos any longer! I kindly suggested that if this is the case they should inform their customers when making appointments/ not after they arrive. Also, they should change their signs and websites advertising body scrubs. Sadly for me, feeling uncomfortable with them and that they were the only place in Koko Marina area that advertised scrub/ combo massage. I would not recommend upper thai massage especially now that I know season thai massage is down the street. When I got a massage here it smelled very strongly like food inside, they left the widows over looking the parking lot wide open before and during the massage, it was very noisy (outside and inside- people chatting), not very clean inside, and my massage tickled the whole time to the point where I was literally LOLing and asking for harder pressure to stop the tickle. Scrub and massage combo was such a disappointment. 3 of us and all had different and disappointing experiences. We were all FREEZING and the therapists did not use hardly any pressure or typical Thai massage technique. I had a combo Thai massage with Noi, and it was the best massage I've had (including a massage in Thailand itself!). She did a wonderful job focusing on my legs and feet, like I requested, while still spending enough time on all my other body parts so I could feel fully refreshed. By the end, I didn't feel like there was anything missing! She did my full body face down AND my full body face up. Noi is surprisingly strong and was able to massage all my sore parts extremely well. The ambience was perfect, great temperature, nice music not too loud, and the oils and lotion smelled like a Hawaii oasis (coconut) without being overbearing or giving me a headache. Had another great session with Am the other day. Explained my mid to lower back was in pain and legs were tight from working out. She gave my body a dry rub down to first identify the problem areas. Then began the deep tissue work over a sheet. Started off by working on my lower back with some deep pressure thumb and forearm work along the spine and then got up on the table to use her knees and shins to add even more pressure. Next was the oil rubdown, still with some strong pressure. I just love it when she works my glutes and quads. And at times, she would just hold down the pressure on those trouble spots, to the point you can actually feel the knot melt away right under her fingers. Pretty amazing... Next came the stretching, while on my stomach she lifted one leg at a time trying to make it point to the sky. Then while on my back she crossed one leg over the other, letting the foot rest along side the outside of the other legs knee. Then she began rocking that bent leg, while holding down my shoulder flat to the table, trying to make that raised knee touch the opposite side of the table. Oh you should hear all the pops going on and then repeated on the other side. Along with the stretching she would also use her shins along my thighs and legs to drive a deeper painfully pleasurable pressure as well. Lastly with one leg crossed over the other in a figure four position, she then lifted my straight leg up into the sky, to the point I was resting on my shoulder blades, like hanging up a hind quarter of beef, then she pushed my extended leg towards my head. OMG and then repeated on the other side. Oh so good. Feeling so relaxed, I topped it off at the nearby Roy's with a few cocktails, while enjoying the beautiful sunset. Just an amazing day.
