This is a small establishment in the heart of downtown Winter Haven. We came across this place after we saw someone eating a slice outside while we were busing another establishment. It smelled so good that I had to ask where he has purchased it. We were hungry and it was the perfect opportunity. We were greeted as soon as we walked it. They had pizza options by the slice behind a glass window, but you could also order food to be made. I purchased a pepperoni pizza pocket for my child and a slice of pepperoni sweet pepper and hot honey. My son truly enjoyed the pizza pocket. He said he loved the garlic and cheese blend that was sprinkled on top. I loved my slice as well. It was crispy around the edges, but not burnt. I wish I could have tasted the hot honey a bit more, but overall, it was delicious and hit the spot. read more

The Pizza was decent something changed but not as good as it used to be something is different, the service was great done with smile and personality, however not enough tables in side, only outside tables, which will be tough in the summer, again the pizza was not bad but the prices were very high, a pepperoni pie was over $25.00 which i think was excessive, if I am in the area I MAY Try it again but will not go back again for pizza. read more

I have to say that the pizza was pretty good at this spot. We ordered the pizza that has roasted pork on it, but unfortunately, they ran out of pork and didn't let us know until after the order was placed and they mixed in some ham and bacon instead and it was pretty good. In all reality I'd rate Upper Crust around a 7-7.5/10. One of the best parts is that you can grab pizza by the slice , perfect when you're single and just want something quick without committing to a whole pie. The slices are a decent size too; you can easily make a full meal out of just one, which makes it a really affordable dinner option, often cheaper than or comparable to fast food. Service was fast, the place was clean, and it made for an easy stop. That said, the sauce isn't for me. There's a heavy hand with oregano and fennel, and fennel especially is a flavor I can't do , it really overpowered the cheese. For me, the cheese slice is the foundation of any pizzeria; if it doesn't hit the mark, it makes it hard to get excited about trying other toppings. The pepperoni slice was definitely better, but I still kept getting bites of fennel. They also happened to be out of the soda I wanted to try, and while staff sent someone out to grab more syrup, it didn't make it back before I left. Not a huge deal, it happens at every restaurant every once in a while. Overall: Solid, quick, and affordable. Great portion sizes and value, but the sauce seasoning just isn't to my taste. read more

I love that this place serves pizza by the slice. I ordered the meat slice and it's as big as your face. It was a thin crust with the perfect amount of toppings and sauce. There is a some indoor seating but more outdoor seating, so you may consider bringing a light jacket if you go in the evenings. Let's start this review by saying we travel all around and are always in hopes of an average to incredible meal. As we've traveled around this particular area trying the various pizza joints, this experience was nothing short of horrible. At first glance in the door at Upper Crest they hold pre-made pizza sitting there for "by the slice" customers. I pointed out to my wife that those pieces had very little sauce or cheese, so make sure we ordered at least extra cheese. The girl at the counter was very disrespectful (as-to a customer) and unfriendly. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and cheesesteak sandwich. The order was ready, and first thing we noticed was the sandwich was cold. The cheese was nowhere near melted, and just plain cold. The pizza didn't have extra cheese and the sauce was minimal. We asked for extra sauce to dip in, so she handed us a little tiny container and charged us I think $1.02 for nothing. The cheese was not good, with very little taste and the same with the sauce. At least what little we could taste. Not good, very poor customer service and bad overall experience and quality. Much, much better around. read more

They claim NY style pizza. I am sorry not close. Got an 18 inch pie and the crust was way to thick. The end went limp even after asking for well done. I could not find really any red sauce on my pie. First time buying. Thought I would try a Phila cheesesteak. I was born and raised around the Philadelphia area so I know what they should taste like. This was god awful. Typical Florida cheesesteak. American cheese, meat baked in an oven that was so tuff I found it very thought to eat. Tenderized on a flat top is the only way to cook a cheesesteak. At a price tag of $16.04 I will pass on this place any time soon. Upper Crust Pizza in Winter Haven has no business going this hard. I walked in expecting a normal meal. I walked out spiritually disoriented like I just survived a food-induced vision quest. We ordered the Supreme pizza and the Pizza knots . The moment that Supreme hit my tongue, time slowed down. I swear I could hear an emotional soundtrack playing in the distance. My brain did a full system reboot. I think I saw my ancestors nodding in approval. But those Pizza knots? Oh. My. God. Why do they taste like they were crafted by a rogue chef who trained in secrecy on a mountaintop? They're warm, soft, dangerous little carb bombs that had me acting like a Victorian orphan who just tasted sugar for the first time. At one point I cupped the last one in my hand like it was a newborn. A server walked by, saw my face, and literally asked if I was "good." Ma'am, I was NOT good. I was DEPENDENT. I started guarding the pizza like it was a national security asset. If someone even looked at it too long, I was ready to hiss. By the end, I wasn't eating -- I was worshipping. Love this new pizza joint, though I'm not "all about NJ-style pizza". The outdoor seating ambiance is lovely. The uniqueness of their pizzas are "fun" and I hope to give the key lime dessert a shot soon. I enjoyed a personal pan sausage with a thicker Sicilian style crust and a slice of the large foldable veggie pizza. Both were great prices, flavors and textures. Loved the idea of a chicken piccata pizza. Liked that the sausage was crumbled, NOT the square sliced type. I ordered a 14 inch BYO pizza, a Red Velvet and Key Lime Pie dessert. Pizza crust was a bit limp. Sauce was decent . The sausage and pepperoni were great. My biggest problem with the pizza was the strong oven taste. It was off putting at first. I did order garlic cheese crust which helped. The desserts definitely tasted frozen, but good anyway. Even though it wasnt spectacular I would still prefer this place over the chain pizza spots. I will give them another chance, but would rather get Palace Pizza before ordering from here read more

It is a cool day in February and there is a place to sit inside but not real conducive to have a conversation. I saw a bunch of patio heaters so we decided to sit outside. Asked the lady behind the counter to see if she can turn one heater on for us. She said not sure if we have propane but will check. No one checked. I ordered a pesto chicken calzone but there hardly any chicken and was very cheesy and full of grease. I decided not to eat it and instead went back to order a vegetable pizza. I was sitting across from my son who was also eating pizza. His slices were nice and big. My slice was the smallest slice of pizza you've ever seen. Went for lunch at 1:00 on a Saturday. The theme is a direct knock off of the chain Mellow Mushroom. They were moderately busy, but not packed. The music in the small building was very loud. The lady taking orders didn't hear me say large 18 in pizza and she rang up a small, 14 in pizza. I realized this after sitting down and immediately went back to the counter to sort it out. The original lady at the counter didn't know how to fix the issue, so she asked the man making pizza (who I presume was the manager or owner). He told her they could make me another 14 inch pizza to make up for it. Then, she proceeds to ring me up for the price of a new 14 inch pizza. I explained I only wanted an 18 inch pizza and I didn't want to pay another 15 dollars. The man then rudely said well that was a solution offered because you wanted more pizza. I explained I wanted to pay for what I ordered, but was unwilling to pay for more. Not one person working there could figure out how to charge me for the difference and/or return my original ticket and charge me the correct amount. I ended up leaving with a total of 60.74 charged to my card on an order that should have been 41.49. When I asked for a proper receipt with the refunded amount. The man says I would have to take it up with my bank because he couldn't do anything about it. He also told me that if I didn't like it I could leave and not come back. I love to support local businesses, but this guy gave no effort to be polite or show any effort of customer service. He told me that they have a thousand customers a day and so they didn't need me. I doubt this. If a company serves a thousand people a day they aren't going to squabble over making someone's order right and charging them the correct amount. I've never witnessed such a rude person as this guy in my entire life (and I've met quite a few characters) He takes the prize. Save yourself the headache and just go to Mellow Mushroom in Lakeland. read more

This is a cool place because the meat lovers pizza is the best pizza ever . The restroom is the best too. When you go in the restroom the music is blasting and it's awesome . I think they have great pizza, and the people that work there are very pleasant to deal with. The inside is relaxing but there is basically seating for a few people, and then there are tables outside on a covered patio. I will definitely keep buying from here, and I enjoy their pepperoni. Oh!
