He easily could have told me I needed a service visit, and I would've had no way of knowing otherwise since this isn't my area of expertise, but instead he was honest, kind, and incredibly helpful. It turned out something was simply unplugged under my chair. Once I plugged it back in, the headrest worked perfectly. The leg recliner still has some issues, but Steve even suggested that I could just use it as a regular chair instead of pushing for a paid repair. Steve is a talented leather guy and a quality human being. He refinished the armrest on my Lexus and matched the color perfectly. He also was honest with me that he could not refinish my steering wheel because there was too much hand oil in the leather (he said the dye wouldn't be durable). So, our dog uses the top of the leather sectional as a bed -- she always has and we don't know why. The rest of the couch seems perfectly comfortable for the humans. It has recently developed a small tear, which quickly became a large tear, right at the seam. We called around for recommendations and Steve's name came up (http://www.uphfix.com/). I called him and we spoke. I told him about the problem and he asked me to send photos to his cell phone, which I did -- and was able to quote me a price and put me on the schedule. When he arrived -- right on time -- he quickly showed me that my problem was not as I suspected. The leather couch had a vinyl back and the vinyl deteriorates over time, whereas the leather will last much, much longer (I've since learned even more: http://getcovered.vpweb.ca/Leather-vs-Vinyl-Mythbusters.html) So, the Vinyl is torn at the stitch and it won't hold a new stitch. Steve came out, educated me on my problem and gave me a recommendation for someone who might be able to replace the vinyl -- without a charge.
