EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS REVIEW! We signed up with Unpakt who has done nothing wrong and they had this moving company for us. What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The manager Don Nash is not available to speak to and when you call him and he hears something that he doesn't like he hangs up the phone on you. The two movers that were physically moving the items, Chris and Salvador, told my mother that if she paid cash under the table they would take things off the bill of lading and provide a better price. This is not how the Unpakt system works because I have used them before and you were supposed to pay on your credit card if you add extra items, not cash for a discount... Very shady on the parts of the moving company. Unpakt is very upset and escalating this to their Senior Vice President. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. We are also filing a complaint with the BBB. The movers also were talking horribly about my parents in Spanish, I might be white but I studied Spanish for 18 years and understand everything you're saying. Don, you're a horrible manager. They promised to deliver our stuff on a specific day and were 8 days late. Our record player, TV stand, dresser, and TV were broken or damaged. Other items were also damaged. They don't reach out to you when you call them and are entirely unprofessional. read more

I found UP Front Movers on YELP. They seemed to have a lot of feedback and mostly positive. I used them for our move from SoCal to SoTexas. Olga handles most of the calls in the office and she is AWESOME!! I've spoken to David the owner and he seems sincere, professional and sharp as well....then, it all falls to hell from there. 1) Wrong estimate for the size of our truck so some items were left in the garage for a "later pick up". 2) sloppy packing by the loaders. Because some items were left for the next day, we never saw those items again. 3) Careless wrapping of household goods. Found 3 canisters of AJAX packed loosely with photo albums. When I unpacked the box, one canister exploded and the powder cleanser covered my photos, albums and framed pictures. 4) Propane tanks are not transported for obvious safety reasons. Imagine why you couldn't transport a propane tank across AZ, NV, NM and TX is July. Now imagine what a surprise when I received my patio heater still loaded with the full tank in it!! This was after I was assured by the office staff the tank was removed from the storage facility. read more

Not even sure how to begin this one with our frustration..... when we hired this company it was because of the positive client reviews, however, we have been nothing but disappointed and mislead. When we set up the appointment they verbally guaranteed a certain delivery date, so when asking us what date we wanted on our form, we agreed to that date. We could have actually received our things 24 hours after pick up, but were convinced by their representative to put the date they could deliver the furniture. Our stuff was picked up, the movers were helpful and great......however, that is when all the problems arose. When they arrived we were informed we had more things than anticipated (it was a grey area how they were determining this), and stated the quote was now $1,300 dollars more. We were stuck and had to be out of our current apartment so were forced to agree and pay the extra deposit. We moved across the country the next day with only a couple of suitcases of clothes that could go on the plane. 8 days later when WE called them to check on the status of our delivery, we were informed it was sitting in a Warehouse in California and had never left since it was picked up. 8 days later? And we only discovered this information after we called them...no one updated us on the status. When my boyfriend called them concerned that is when they told us the "truck broke down a few days ago unexpectedly"...I know things like that happen, however, the days the truck broke down were uncertain and kept changing. Either they are very poorly informed on their own trucks, or they were lying to try to ward us off. After countless attempts to contact our rep (who was apparently leaving at 2:30 everyday) we finally were told repeatedly that they had 21 business days from the date they determined to deliver our things. I am aware that is in the contract, but we did not determine that date, they did, and they do not account any days....zero days that the stuff sits in a warehouse...the clock does not start ticking until your delivery date passes, and it is business days, so no weekend deliveries. The rep could not give us any information when another truck would be picking up our stuff. We are now paying for a hotel room since our apartment is unlivable...so not only did we waste the money on rent, we are now wasting money on a hotel. I only flew out to the midwest to be there to move in, I am a teacher and had to miss testing for my students (a very big deal) to go do this. The flight money was also wasted, and the loss of instruction time to my students (I am most heartbroken over this one).....and we honestly don't really have the thousands of dollars to cover their mistakes. However, the worst part is when we called to address the issue, the rep, Carla was verbally attacking, blamed us, and then got very defensive and rude. It wasn't until I remind her that the call was being recorded and her supervisor could hear how disrespectfully she was treating me, that she even attempted to calm down her tone. So they lied to us about the process, misled us to sign a date based on their misquoting, and now have no idea when it will arrive, except it will arrive sometime near the 21 business days (so exactly 27 days after the pick up)! If you need your things do not use this company. They will scam you, they will scream at you, and they have absolutely no motivation to move your things. Once they have them on their truck, they have them and carry no sense of regard or urgency to get them too you. If you call to follow up you will most likely be screamed out. Only use this company if you want poor customer service and to wait a full month before seeing your things. I would also just like to state, I had to create a yelp account for this review....normally I would never review a place...but this is honestly the worst business I have ever come across. read more

I recently relocated cross country, and used this company to transport all my belongings. They told us my stuff would be delivered within1-3 weeks, and after 2 weeks, they called to schedule our delivery. However, we were about to be hit by a category 4 hurricane in Florida (Hurricane Irma), and were on evacuation watch. We had bought plane tickets to leave the state for Wednesday, but the company told us they would be coming on Thursday. I asked if we could set delivery up with them at a later time in light of the unforeseen circumstances, and they said there was nothing they could do, we had to be there when the drivers decided or we would be charged. So we rebooked our plane tickets to the following evening, as the movers said they would be arriving between 12-3p.m. that day, and would call us an hour before they arrived. When 2p.m. came and went with no phone call, we called them. He told us that he was having trouble getting a smaller truck and might not make it that day (yeah, all of the businesses were closed due to the hurricane, maybe if they had just been more flexible to begin with....). We let him know that we had already rebooked our plane tickets on his account and expected them to deliver that afternoon before we had to leave for our flight. He said he would be there at 4:30. Again, 4:30 came and went with no phone call, so we called again, and he said he would be there by 5:30. He still did not show up, and we had to call him yet again. He FINALLY arrived at 6p.m., 3 hours late- we had literally been sitting at home since noon waiting for them to show up, and if he was being held up, why did we have to call him multiple times, instead of him giving us the courtesy of an update?? Outside of that, several of my items arrived broken or damaged. They had loaded multiple boxes on trolleys and dollys to carry from the truck to the house (and, on a side note, because they were unable to rent a smaller moving truck, they parked just outside our complex with the larger truck, but did not offer to refund the money we had been charged for the smaller truck) and as they were wheeling them up to our place, I saw them drop at least two boxes from the top of the pile. Boxes that were marked fragile were not being treated delicately, were being carried on their sides, etc. And as I started unpacking my boxes later, I found several of my big decorative candles melted and warped, as well as a a few items that were rubber and plastic, melted....very strange, wonder how high heat the things were being stored in. And finally, as they were leaving, one of the guys was very blatantly hinting that we should tip them- how very unprofessional. Had we not wasted half our day waiting for them to show up with no phone calls when they were late, and not had we not had to rebook flights trying to flee a hurricane, we would have been more than happy to tip them, but no matter what, it is very unprofessional to ask for it. And because they were unable to rent a smaller moving truck, they parked just outside the complex with the larger truck, but we were still charged for the rental of the smaller truck. I did give the second star because everyone we spoke to was very nice, phone calls to the office were returned promptly, and they did give us a guaranteed price quote over the phone without the inconvenience of a home evaluation first, which was nice. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH UP FRONT MOVERS EVER! I made a reservation to move from Manhattan Beach to Oakland for a job relocation. I had called about 2 1/2 weeks in advance of move to maximize flexible dates. During my conversation with representative, I was told it was logistically possible to have both the move and delivery take place in one day. Certainly ambitious, but I agreed to it. Then on the day before I moved, I got a call from one of the representatives saying my reservation was incorrect and I wouldn't be able to have my stuff delivered until about five days later. I protested for two reasons. I was given wrong information. I was not contacted about my reservation being an issue until less than 24 hours before my move date. And to make things worse, they were unapologetic and unhelpful. First, they accused me of misunderstanding the reservation. Second, they then blamed the representative (who was apparently new) for giving me incorrect information. Third, they refused to reimburse me for having to stay in a hotel until I could move into my new place. Fourth, they offered to refund the money, though that doesn't solve anything as it is impossible to book a new reservation with a new company less than 24 hours before I need to move. After all these, I got calls from multiple dispatchers stating different delivery days, which added even more confusion. Finally, they agreed to lower my bill by $200. But that still doesn't account for three significant things. One, I'm not moved into my new place in time and, therefore, will have settled in and unpacked as I'm in the middle of beginning a new job. Second, I have to pay more money for hotel costs because they are not delivering my furniture on the day it was originally planned. Three, I was not given enough advance notice for their mistake to arrange an alternative. Bottom line, UP FRONT MOVERS is extremely unprofessional and incompetent. read more

I move every 1-2 years for my business. Our last move was in January we were burned by the movers. It was a short distance move from Rancho Palos Verdes to Redondo Beach. They took their time and damaged our stuff, broke mirrors, scratched my brand new Fridge, etc. it took them 14 hours!! This time I wanted to make sure we didn't have a replay. We have 5 children and a 4 bedroom house. I'm not low maintenance. I have a ton of belongings. We needed 2 trucks. We were moving from the Southbay back out to San Fernando Valley. We had moved from The Valley to the Southbay exactly 2 years ago. We used Father and Sons that time. They took 13 hours to do that move. No complaints there. They did an awesome job. However Father and Sons was not available for this move. My husband was really Spectacle. Also being that he would be out of town for work on actual moving day. He was really nervous calling me every hour to check. Cesar and 3 other guys showed up and I expressed my concern with our past experiences. Cesar and his guys were respectful, extremely fast and cautious with everything. Whenever I asked for something they were on it! I didn't catch them taking breaks or moving slow. They all 4 kicked a$$!!! They were all very professional. They started around 9am and had everything wrapped and loaded by 12:30. Everything was unloaded in the correct room and beds assembled! Even my garage items were organized neatly! All by 6pm! It took an hour and half in drive time alone. Moving is stressful but Caesar and his guys made my life a little easier. Especially with a 3 month old attached to me and my husband out of town. My advice is communicate with the movers what your expectations are. I went back and forth on whether or not I should leave a review, because when the movers actually showed up (late), they were very pleasant. However, there were multiple issues throughout the process that should be addressed. 1) The pick-up date to me, was very scattered and messy. When I spoke to the moving coordinator she assured me that the truck would be labeled, and that the movers would be wearing company shirts in order to identify them. Instead, the mover was wearing a completely different moving company logo and the truck was unmarked, aside from the large graffiti. The mover was also supposed to call about 30 minutes prior to arriving, and instead called when he was out front. 2) The arrival date, now this was the most frustrating to me. First, I was promised a drop off time of 9:00am Thursday. The rules in VA are very particular, so I had to schedule my move and reserve parking for the truck. I also burned vacation time to wait for the movers and I sat there for nearly 2 hours to find out that they were running late. I decided to head back to work and notified my building that they weren't going to make it on time but stated they would be there later. When I got an update later, I was told they couldn't make it until the next day. Initially Carla started off very pleasant throughout the interactions, but when I expressed my frustrations to her about having to schedule the move again with my building, take time off of work, and reserve PAID parking again, she became what seemed to be very irritated, telling me that there was "no use crying over spilled milk." Now, mind you, I had already paid over 1,500 dollars to this company, with the expectation that my stuff would arrive when they told me it would. I expressed to them over and over that they cannot just "pop" up because of the rules of the complex. Carla's tone became incredibly rude asking me if I could "do it or not" because the trucks had other drop offs. As if it were my fault. I'd consider myself to be pretty laid back, but when it comes to a purchase nearing 3,000 dollars and 10's thousands in possessions, it's not to be taken lightly. Their Yelp reviews made me to select them, but I do think they are limited to the top reviews so be sure to read all of them because I read a recent review with a similar experience that now seems to be moved or deleted. A++ to the movers that arrived, they were again, the reason why I went back and forth on even writing this, but there needs to be some level of accountability when you promised your customer one date and showed up on a completely new date. I get that it's a long distance move, but the communication was lacking which led to more frustration. read more

THIS COMPANY WILL SCAM YOU! Words cannot do justice to describe how awful the service of this lazy, unprofessional crew was: but I'll give it a try. First, they showed up an hour and a half late. Then, they purposefully took as loooong as possible to pack things up, strategically trying to run out the clock on the 4 hours we had booked them for. Then, we left at the same time, and they were supposed to meet us at our new residence which is only 15 MINUTES away. It took them a FULL HOUR to arrive, and wouldn't tell us why. At this point, it had been nearly 3 hours (one of which was that mysterious hour they had spent driving). They told us that they would need additional time to unload, and would be charging us for more than 4 hours. We said no, we signed a contract, we were only paying for 4 hours, once they hit their 4 hour mark, they should just stop. They then opened the truck, sat down, and refused to give us our stuff until we paid more money. They said they only wanted cash (presumably so they could pocket the extra). They argued with us for 2 hours. When we asked to speak to their bosses, they claimed not to have a corporate number. They only let us speak to their bosses after WE WERE FORCED TO CALL THE COPS ON THEM. Then the number maaaagically showed up. The woman on the phone for corporate was no help, saying that they had a right to charge whatever they felt they deserved for their services, despite our contract. We were forced to pay for extra time that they hadn't even spent working. Only then did they unload our stuff, the whole time being snarky and making jokes about charging us more. This is a scam. A TOTAL SCAM. DO NOT USE THEM. SIDENOTE: While moving the couch out of our old apartment, they punched a hole in the wall with one of the legs. Thats a security deposit we will not be getting back. Do yourself a favor and do not hire movers who don't know how to move things. read more

WE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE ON THEM TO GET OUR STUFF BACK! I'M WARNING YOU DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE LIARS AND SCHEMERS! We had discussed with the office that we only wanted them to come to move the furniture because we had a bunch of little trucks from our friends to take all of the little things. We agreed together that it shouldn't take more than 4 hours as we only had two beds, 2 couches and a fridge for them to move. That morning the movers arrived and we spent 20 minutes going over what we wanted and reading over the contract. Javier told us it would take 5-6 hours to move everything we immediately told him no, we only have money for 4 hours, and he is not moving "everything" he is only moving the furniture," he said ok that will work. He then said without looking at us "ok the time will start at 8:45" and smiled. We looked at the clock and it said 8:55 and we confronted him and he laughed and said "oh yeah 8:50". Javier then leaves to get a dolly and the two other workers (Daniel and I can't remember the other guys name) and they came back 15 minutes later. When they came back inside Javier then pointed to the small boxes (which we clearly stated we didn't want them to move twice now) and asks if he can start there. So I tell him no just do the furniture. He then says he needs to do the small boxes first because that's how they have to pack the truck. Once again I told him no only the furniture because we won't have time or money for more than 4 hours. He then goes behind me and begins picking up the boxes he sees and I immediately take the box from him and go to put it in another room. When I come back his coworkers have their dolly's full of boxes and at this point I am beyond irritated and announce to all three of them once again, "take the furniture not the boxes because we will not pay you for more than four hours!" Javier then puts his hands and says look we will take it all and only charge you 4 hours. I said okay just know you are not getting anymore than $420 because its cash we don't have anymore. after watching the crew's pace, I then began helping them take the boxes to the point were I was moving faster than they were, mind you I am 5'7, 140 lbs - no muscle. The day before the movers came, we had already moved 1 room and the kitchen into our new apartment. To sum up this so far: we specifically asked them to move only the furniture and nothing else and tried to prevent them from moving anything else to our best ability multiple times and only agreed to it because they said we would only be charged four hours. To put this next part into perspective: it took my roommate and I, 6 hours to move ALL rooms into this same apartment with the help of two guys. It took these guys 4 HOURS to load 1 bedroom and furniture and 1 HOUR TO DRIVE TO OUR NEW APARTMENT WHICH IS 15 MINUTES AWAY! In this time 5 total people were moving the smaller items (i.e. boxes) and were able to make 2 trips back and forth. Also they RIPPED A HOLE IN THE WALL WHILE MOVING!!! When they arrive to the new apt, we immediately began taking the smaller items off the truck while all the workers (except one) stayed by the truck. At this point they are doing nothing at all. At one point Daniel and Javier blocked all of us from getting onto the truck and told us that if we want the rest we have to pay. That made sense so, though we were pissed about how long it was taking them, went to give then the 420 we had agreed on. I look at the clock and it is 1:00 Javier then emerges from his truck and says that it will be 605 for the total 6 hours from 8:50 -1:30. -_______- 1. THAT'S ONLY 4.5 HOURS 2. how can you charge us for something you haven't done yet, 3. WE ALREADY AGREED ON A PRICE 4. we told you guys to only take the furniture FIVE TIMES, 5. yall took your sweet time moving AND driving and didn't even do all of the work, my family, roommate and I did a majority of the moving for them! 6. YOU GUYS RIPPED A WHOLE IN OUR WALL! We then argued with them and called corporate and they did not answer so we asked Javier for the correct number and he refused to give it to us. When we tried to go on the truck to get our stuff, Javier and Daniel blocked us from getting it. At this point they were holding our things hostage so we called the cops. The moment we got the cops on the phone, their tone changed. Javier said, "Oh wait wait maybe we can give you a discount" Long story short, (since I ran out of characters), we had another appointment to make that day and the cops were taking a while so they made us pay 525 in order to get our stuff back (WHICH IS CALLED RANSOM) and left before the cops could get there, the cops showed up maybe 20 minutes later and we wrote a police report. Also beware, I'm pretty sure these 5 star reviews were paid for or the people who wrote them were offered a discount because I've read through the yelp reviews of the 1 stars and they are detailed and demonstrated the same experience I've had. read more

DO NOT USE THESE SHYSTERS! First their quote is not the real cost. They don't send anyone to give a physical estimate. Then they charge you for additional packing materials at the time of loading. And have you quickly sign a shit load of forms without explaining them to you. They claim you can call and have your delivery scheduled - oh no, not the case ... they put you off til they can round up a driver this can be 21 - 30 days! Their customer service is rude and does not return calls. And their liaison, Bobby - is belligerent. We did a big move out of state using this company. It was extremely expensive with them wrapping everything, including a broom, and then charging for it. They estimated us a price in the beginning and when it was actually over we ended up paying over $2,000 more when the move was complete. They broke two expensive floor lamps and then when we tried to get refunded anything, they wanted us to get a notorized form costing $25 when they were only going to refund$12. They would not deliver our truck once they got to the location without having to transfer it to another truck, which we were charged an additional $800. They took off $200 of that "for the troubles."The reasoning they said we were being charged was that the truck was not allowed on the street where we lived. This company was over a week late delivering our items from the date they stated they would be there. When we called for updates, it was reported they had to make another few stops delivering other people items along the way. The guy who was driving the truck called us a few times and was friendly, but did try and extend his time arriving several days longer. I would not recommend this company for anyone moving out of state. It was a nightmare and again very expensive. read more

You will not hear from them ever again after they pick up your belongings. My belongings have been picked or 20 days now. They never return any of my phone calls or text after that, except for one text from the salesperson Bobby telling me to contact another person who has never responded. They may be out of business now too as Bobby's line is disconnected. I am super worried and don't know what else to do. read more

awful experience. was scammed. unclear information, price hiked up after half my stuff was loaded on the truck. then they held it hostage when i said im not paying above the agreed price. so i had to pay their scam just to get my stuff back. If i could give zero stars for this company. I would give them -100 stars. They have failed to deliver, failed to uphold their end of the contract, don't answer phones, emails and Don Nash! Do not get me started on him and how this company is ran. Run away from this company Do not even call for an estimate. Skip them on the google search. They did not give an arbitration booklet on what to do, they did not come to the house for a walk through estimate. They sent some random guy who we weren't told was even coming to walk through.He missed items that were in plain site to be picked up. The gave an over the phone estimate. Then went up on the price when they arrived as things were supposedly missing from the list. They told us delivery is 21-30 BUSINESS days AFTER THEY LOADED OUR STUFF ON THEIR UNMARKED TRUCK. They use a big boy company (Mayflower) to do their interstate moving. THEY FAILED TO TELL US THAT TOO. They picked up our stuff but failed to deliver everything. BRAND new boxes were damaged, ripped open, tape coming off, smelled like they had been somewhere damp. A roach/bug of some kind came out of one of the boxes while unpacking. No one knows what happened, where things are, who has our boxes and told us we had to wait for another truck coming our direction to get our stuff. So we have to wait for their unorganized screw up. They still have not called or delivered our stuff. They are not BBB accredited. Someone called themselves helping us and picked this horrible, disgusting company and did not check the reviews prior to picking them. Glass items were broken, art work was dented, a large TV/Photo/art box was practically sliding out of the truck when they were unloading. We continue to call and no answer, no email reply. NOTHING!! RUN FROM THIS AWFUL, HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE AND LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPANY. THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED. read more

I used this company to move from California to Tennessee. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. Bobby and I talked 4 times prior to moving. He promised me 3 times that our belonging would not be transferred from 2 28ft trucks to a larger truck. Bobby said that the 2 trailers would be loaded on a flatbed. The driver that brought our personal belongings was in a United Van Lines trailer. Many of our items were broken due to there packing and throwing them in the trailer. The driver also posted our address on craigslist for lumpers. This was a total mess. Have filed a claim for loss and have not heard anything yet. I WOULD NEVER TRUST THEM FOR A LONG MOVE. THE DRIVER TOLD US THAT WE HAD TO PAY HIM ANOTHER $2000k TO UNLAOD THE TRUCK. read more

BEWARE! Called these guys because prior mover booked didn't have insurance. Booking lady was nice. Not sure if she is a broker or actually works for this company. anyway- was quoted 4 hour minimum. Guys showed up at 5:40 pm and did some talking and signing for fifteen minutes then started working moving my stuff into truck . Noticed one guy continuously on phone . Walked out to hear loud techno music playing and only two guys working . One guy still on his phone standing around. I complained to Cesar . After two hours truck was loaded. Got to new destination and Ceasar told estimate to unload would be four more hours ! I argued because it only took 2 hours to pack and load? Cesar asked if ok to take break . Fifteen minutes later found them sitting on truck and asked what was going on we need to get job done. Ten minutes goes by Cesar informs me he will not unload my items unless I pay him then and there for his inflated estimate of an additional four hours to unload even though it was only around two hours to pack AND load? We argued because he was holding my items hostage which by the way is not lawful - I requested to call his manager. It was now 9:20 pm and refused to do anything without payment so agreed to charge my credit card or risk having called his manager or broker ( Not sure what she was at this point) she was pleasant but said that it is their policy not to unload truck unless you agree to THEIR estimate and require full payment or items stay on the truck an they leave- WHAT who does this? The problem is they stragecially inflate the time to hit the 7 -9 hour they want to make. I gave him my credit card to pay for his estimate for another four hours since my stuff was being held hostage. I then saw on the paperwork he also tried to charge $175 for shrink wrap which by the way was included and totally un necessary on most items -just a tactic to "up charge " and run the clock up . Up against a wall signed because it was late at night . Thankfully i had the original estimate which included shank wrap and tape so the manager on the phone told caesar to remove that charge . They dumped our items anywhere and left a mess. At 11:30 pm after moving as slowly as possible so I wouldnt get a refund and the hour 7 hours would be met, I found the third guy on his phone again sitting down . asked them to load a couch they left near my truck so I could take it home since this was my office. Ceasar repeatedly told me they would do at the end and wanted to get the move done asap. at 12:30 am I positioned my truck to put couches back in and he then said no, we are out of time, can't help you unless you give me cash. I said are you kidding me You took Numerous breaks and one guy on the phone most of the time and you didn't start working until 6pm! he said no, our truck ARRIVED at 5:35 so we are done. SCAM ARTIST. These guys are shady and manipulate the time charged leaving the customer vulnerable to having their stuff taken. They walk slowly they pack slowly and everything else to make the clock run up. The final touches to this experience, at 1am when their hour estimate hit, originally to the minute , Ceasar was at the truck wrapping up his trash I asked for copy of what I signed earlier. Without warning he hit the button to lift me into his truck that I was standing on. He stood right behind me and tried to force me to walk into the dark truck . I felt uneasy because of the heated exchanges earlier in regards to the hostage of my items. I learned now that I should have called the police as soon as he threatened to hold my items hostage. Do not hire this company - None of THEIR SIGNATURES have last names either..... something not right here. I wrote this review to share my experience and to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. read more
