Then there was her antique furniture that had great sentimental value. She was very emotional and was completely overwhelmed. I checked Yelp for a Moving company in Syracuse and ran across First Class Moving and Removal, as we not only needed her belongings moved to a storage unit, but needed all the junk-type stuff taken to the dump. I saw a picture of Shaun and his crew next to a meticulously blanket-covered and wrapped piece of furniture and immediately felt this was a company that truly CARED about people's things and was willing to demonstrate that instead of just making idle boasts. I spoke with Shaun on the phone (I was orchestrating this whole thing from California) and found him to be professional, courteous, and understanding of the need for a kind and helpful approach to this very emotionally charged situation. My sister is elderly and since I couldn't be there in person to oversee the packing and move, I had to rely on trusting my gut from not much more than a few phone calls and texts to get this started. Long story short, Shaun and his crewmember did a FANTASTIC job on all levels. The furniture was completely blanketed and wrapped, the items that were not quite packed were taken care of, and ALL the junk went quickly to the dump. They took pics of the whole process, the packed truck, and the filled storage unit, keeping me updated all along the way. My sister felt safe, supported, and acknowledged. The price was exceptional for what they had to do. They moved quickly to keep the time down and didn't even take a break until it was all done. THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL YOUND BUSINESS and I would recommend them to anyone. This level of professionalism, integrity, and above all, caring is beyond rare. This young man and his company will go far. They sent four guys and they had loaded all of my stuff in the truck in about 20 minutes. Only two of the guys (and their adorable dog) drove my stuff to Boston, but they were equally speedy moving my stuff into my condo. They were very attentive to the rooms that I had indicated on the boxes, and they were very careful of our newly finished wood floors. They were professional, friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful. If I'm ever living in the Ithaca area again, I would definitely use them.

I'm set to move to Manhattan in mid September to start my career at a firm. I got a quote from this company and wanted to see if the moving quote I got ($740 for 10 boxes) would be less if I had less boxes. I also wanted to see what it was based on given that I didn't tell them what is in the boxes when I requested a quote (only clothing, bedding, and shoes). She told me that it is based on weight and that her husband calculated it (this was the first sign that I should maybe be speaking to the husband and not her). I then asked what would happen if it was less boxes. She replied that it would have to be "worth their while." Basically that they didn't want my business unless it was worth it to them. This point angered me. I think it's fair to know how a quote is calculated. Furthermore, if you choose business based on what move is worthwhile, maybe this should be listed somewhere. Maybe charge a minimum for all moves to Manhattan and explicitly state this. I don't have an issue paying the $740, I just wanted to know how that number was reached. I won't go into more detail about what was said because then this would be more of an essay than a review. I can only say that I felt that she thought I was an undergraduate student that wasn't worth her time.

Moving from one state to another is always very difficult - you never know how to find the best of…read morethe best where you're headed. I lucked out with Reliable Movers - not only were they responsive and willing to book me from out of state for a move-in to a place with multiple sets of stairs, when they arrived they were helpful, friendly, and even prevented some damage that would have been done because of the way my outgoing movers packed my truck. They took great care with all of my items, got everything to exactly where I asked it to be placed even though I was stuck outside with the truck providing information, and got it all done in record time. The crew that showed up on move-in day were about twenty minutes early, after checking in with me via phone and text. Everyone was helpful and courteous. This was an excellent moving experience and I will be hanging on to Reliable's contact information for my eventual move to another location. The price for unloading into my new home was great, especially given the stairs involved. No one likes to make furniture go up narrow stairs - Reliable's crew made it happen quickly with a clearly practiced pace.
