We signed up for puppy playtime, received puppy training skills for Mochi, and have also used their Vetco vaccination clinic. The staff has always been kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. A big shoutout goes to their lead groomer, Espy. We've been going to her for years because no one is as professional, patient, and skilled as she is with our dogs. Fortunately , I've been here way too many times to understand how "vaccinations day" goes. I'm obviously not wording it correctly but you understand. My husband and I always choose to come to this location when our pets need vaccines for one particular doctor (Dr. Alfredo Guzman). He is so good with our dogs and he's patient but he also is very quick. The lines to see him are always extremely long but very quick. Not to bash any other doctor, but we have gone in a few times with another female Doctor and while she's very passionate about her job, she is extremely slow and so are the staff that work with her. I highly recommend you come when Dr. Alfredo is there. You won't regret it. Dr. Alfredo makes the experience very comfortable for each family, especially those coming in with puppies. I'm not going to lie. The service of the nursing staff typically is not great and it starts from the moment that we check in. However, the people that work in the store are amazing and a lot more helpful. I only read it three stars because of that doctor and the great staff at the store. read more

Espe is a great groomer who cares about your animals like they're hers while in her care. She's was great with our Maltipoo Ivy (RIP), and catered to her behavior as she was much older and tended to get quite scared and vocal during the blow-drying portion of her grooming session. She's also been great with our rescue Schnoodle Buddy, and now she is taking care of our one and a half year old mini bernedoodle Bailey Mae. I hope she stays with Petco unleashed for years to come as our personal groomer, but if she leaves we will follow!! Petco, you should make sure to do whatever to keep her. I'm honestly surprised that Petco would promote someone with such poor customer service skills to the role of grooming lead. My experience with Espy was extremely disappointing. After seeing the number of similar negative reviews about her interactions with customers, I'm surprised she is still in this position. As a grooming lead, I would expect her to greet and welcome customers professionally, not come across as rude from the very beginning (like the moment she opened the door). I would also expect her to be able to answer basic questions without becoming defensive, especially when customers are asking about "mandatory" add-on services and related charges. Most importantly, as the lead, I would expect her to handle concerns professionally instead of immediately blaming customers when issues arise. Customer service should be a priority in a role like this, and unfortunately, that was not my experience. Instead, she refused service because of course I called her out on her horrible behavior, which I'm glad she did because I wouldn't expose my beautiful baby to be handled by someone who obviously hates her job (even though she was already inside the grooming area, behind closed doors). The only thing I hated more than her behavior was that she went back to the grooming area and didn't treat my dog with respect either when she brought her back because my dog seemed scared, but I mean, who wouldn't with her rude, unprofessional tone and horrible demeanor. read more

We had an appointment today for bath and grooming but unfortunately it was canceled due to my dog was nervous and having anxiety. This supposedly is first time at this location. I brought him to main Ct chula vista before and they able to handle him. But I felt like this location was not really good with dogs. They canceled my appointment right away. I expected that they should be good and used to every kind of dog's personality but unfortunately they were not. I was really disappointed. She was not even friendly at all. They give you wrong info on their deals with dog vaccination sets. I bought the deal for 3 sets of vaccination for over $200 and is good for one year according to them; after one set I came back and told me I have to pay the 2nd set again because it's been over 4 months. This company will gouge your money and don't give a fuck. I asked their rep how bout you guys give the shots which I already paid for and that's it. They said no -you'll have to pay for those shots again. They will also tell you a bunch of bs of why this and that policy crap. I told them you guys basically just took my money and did nothing for it. Load of crap! Negative zero is my rating. read more

What an unfortunate experience at this pet store, where employees aren't apparently trained to deal with the different temperaments of dogs. My dog who was adopted from the Humane Society, isn't dog friendly and gets extremely nervous and agitated. Therefore, she tends to bark quite a lot. She's extremely loving and very good with people. She like any other dog needs her vaccinations and proper care from a veterinarian. Today, I experienced employees at this particular pet store, laughing, rolling their eyes and with a very unwelcome attitude due to her barking. I assumed employees at Unleashed would be understanding of a dog that maybe has had some traumatic experience living on the streets or maybe spent an extremely long time in a shelter. If you have a dog this is a much better place than the huge and overwhelming multi pet regular Petco or Petsmart. The setup is nice. They have self wash tubs, lots of the fresh and frozen foods, great selection of things. They offer rabies shots for your dog at a reasonable price as well. Wow. I don't usually leave reviews anywhere but this is ridiculous. We have been coming to this location for 10 years, going on 11. We bought our dog from their Sunday rescue out front. This was the first time I have not been greeted or treated nicely upon entering. I am 7 months pregnant with a baby on my hip, 4 year old walking next to me and a big dog on a leash. I had a grooming appointment at 2pm. We were not greeted, we waited at the grooming counter for at least 5 minutes, while an employee was washing the tubs and other employees staring at us, before being spoken to by apparently the manager on duty, even though a groomer was looking at us through the glass. He asked if we had an appointment, what time it was and if we knew our groomer. I told him I did not know who the groomer was so he checked and proceeded to tell me she was on lunch and looked at his watch and let me know I was 7 minutes early and walked away. Couldn't even help me out by taking our dog back or checking him in. Then the groomer looking through the glass peeked out and asked if we could be helped... I explained we were waiting on Camila to get back from lunch, she then proceeded to tell us to go sit on the bench and wait. Again no one helping out or asking to take our dog back to check him in. Now, as we sit our dog has an accident and poops on the floor. I ask the manager on duty at that time for a poop bag, he tells me where they are and asked me if I wanted him to hold the dog while I clean it up. Yes, of course my hands are FULL! Not once does he say oh let me help you with that, it's no problem, again I'm pregnant while holding a baby. I am so disappointed in the lack of customer service here today. I have never experienced this at this location in the last 10 years. We ended up not getting our dog groomed because he was less than a month from one vaccine. Understandable, but still very disappointed in the lack of customer service. One star because you have to before leaving a review or they would get zero. Do better. read more
