I've had horrible experiences with both Collegetown Cab and Cayuga dispatch. Four times (FOUR!) I've called Cayuga dispatch to take me to the airport--sometimes calling ten hours in advance--and they've either never shown up or shown up EXTREMELY late. If I hadn't hopped into another passing cab, I would have missed my flight every single time I relied on them. Horrible. Collegetown Cab, while better, has never picked up their phone for me when I called. And I've tried many times. Getting a cab with ASAP is so easy. The dispatcher is polite and friendly and never gets my info wrong. The cabs are always 5 minutes early, waiting in the right spot, and the drivers are pleasant. For this, I gladly say that they've earned my loyalty when I need a cab. They are also slightly cheaper than the other cab companies and will give you slack on luggage fees. I do knock off one star because their taxis are in disrepair. They're beat-up old vans with dented fenders and doors that stick and are hard to open. The insides are clean but they're just really old, clunky cars. Once, the engine even stalled a few times before starting, which made me nervous. But other than that, they are definitely the best cab company in Ithaca. Thank you ASAP for being a godsend.

My colleague and I flew into Ithaca airport, and needed a cab to take us to Cornell campus (maybe a 5-10 minute trip). This was the first company we saw, so we went for it. The van was a carpool - there were multiple passengers with multiple destinations - so I assumed it would a pretty economical option. I assumed incorrectly. If in Ithaca, try Collegetown Cabs. The taxi itself was not clean. He had me wait in the van to try to pick up more people from my flight and the when I arrived at my destination, he had me wait because his credit card app to bill me wouldn't pull up. Drive to there was fine but I waited more than an hour to get a cab. Sympathetic operator told me he didnt understand why no one came to pick me up. Longer than an hour is just unacceptable. On a similar trip a taxi driver was obviously high on weed. I could smell the marijuana in the cab. He was too talkative and went beyond professional boundaries. At one point he let go of the steering wheel for more than a ten seconds while driving to gesture in his conversation. Another asian cab driver inquiried whether I was christian or not. Me saying no he seemed to change his friendly demeanor of me and did not talk to me while driving to my destination. I can only conclude out of my experience of frequently unprofessional taxi drivers, rude operators and ridiculously late arrival that to ask for a cab with this service is a gamble when you need it the most. Save yourself the pain and use the TCAT, bike, shuttle, walk or use a car. I will admit that I have had average experiences, but the fact that in all my years in Ithaca I always get the same rate of terrible service shows a lack of accountability and respect for the time of their customers.
