Listen--University Seafood is that spot. This ain't no chain fried fish. This is real-deal, seasoned-right, fried-fresh seafood the way it's supposed to be. I've been here about three different times, all at different days and times, and let me tell you--consistency is key, and they understood the assignment. The fish? Crispy outside, flaky inside, and most importantly, it doesn't have that weird fishy taste. You know what I'm talking about. The shrimp? Fried fresh and never overcooked. The batter is seasoned just right--crispy without being heavy, flavorful without being too salty. You can tell they change the oil regularly because everything tastes clean. No old grease vibes here. Fries are solid, and when you hit it with a little of their hot sauce and tartar combo? Whew. Game over. It's so good I low-key start dancing in the car before I even take the second bite. The building is clean every time I've walked in, which honestly says a lot. It's not fancy, but it's spotless. You will wait a few minutes, but that's because they fry everything to order. I'll take that wait every time if it means my food comes out piping hot and fresh. Now... if I had one lil' complaint (and this is me being petty and loving at the same time), y'all gotta stop playing with them pickles. Best boiled seafood in Baton Rouge. Everything is so perfectly seasoned. If you like flavor & want your nose to run a little lolll, go here. It's getting a 4 only because the prices are meh. Crawfish should never be more than $4.99-$6.99 per pound. Charging $10 per pound is so awful to me. They're really lucky it's a lot of people's favorite crawfish place. If it weren't for people's loyalty and the quality product, the prices would absolutely turn people away. All in all though, this a great place, excellent service and amazing food. I finally tried the crawfish. There was a 15 minute wait on a new batch. They have window bench seating available. The building seemed clean. I would return to try other cooked items. I purchased 5lb crawfish and a few bags of corn and potatoes. The crawfish were spicy but not flavorful. The corn had no seasoning. The potato's were cut like I prefer but they also lacked flavor. I personally wouldn't return for crawfish. read more

I tried their crawfish and the 3 fish fillet plate and everything was hot and fresh, the crawfish were a bit on the spicier side but still really tasty. I will say it's definitely wise to call and place your order ahead because everything is cooked to order (not the boiled food items). Do not eat here. Roaches are boiled in their crawfish. While eating crawfish,my friend noticed two boiled roaches in her crawfish. The crawfish also had a weird taste, and most of the crawfish were small and died before being boiled . The crawfish was also dirty, you can tell they weren't clean very well.
