I have had two great experiences at Primary Eyecare…read more The Barracks Road location is spacious, modern, and clean. The wait is typically not very long and they are efficient. They seem to really move through customers without making you feel rushed. They're also not trying to convince you to do every exam to charge extra. Last year I got my eyes dialated, and this year I did not need to. I didn't want to but was glad to hear my doctor recommend holding off for another year herself! Makes you feel like they care, at least a little bit. Overall the staff is friendly and helpful. Did not find/have problems. They are relatively easy to set an appointment with (online or by phone). I say this is one of my better eye appointment experiences without feeling like I've wasted a whole day!

I want to note that this is a bustling practice, which hopefully will give you some perspective…read moreamid all the reviews. A lot of people go to Charlottesville Eye Associates for their eyecare, which is an endorsement in itself. My experience so far has been great. After twice getting new glasses that weren't working for me after a few weeks (at another practice), then having trouble driving on a dark highway at night, I had cataract removal and lens implants at age 50. (My brother had the procedure done at 45, so genetics were likely the reason for my early issues.) Dr. Grover was recommended as "the" person to go to, and I was not disappointed with his service. He is friendly, efficient and highly competent. With my second eye now done, I can see 20-20 at distance, with clarity to the horizon, and I am now good to drive without glasses. My overall vision has never been this good, and so I wanted to express my gratitude to Dr. Grover and the rest of the staff. His recommendation for a standard lens in one eye and a Toric lens in the other worked out with miraculous results. The only drawbacks I can identify are the tradeoffs that they warn you about, but I'm not sure I was fully prepared for. I do get floaters and light sensitivity, including morning strobing, which I hope will either go away in time or I'll at least adapt to and notice less. Also, I now need reading glasses, since I went from nearsighted to farsighted with the surgeries. I did not go with the most expensive lenses that address both near and far vision, because there was a warning that some people experience glare. Given the state of my eyes, that was a good call, I think. I'm still in the period of finishing up eye drops and final healing, so the ultimate state of my eyes is subject to revision over time. But knowing that the removal had to be done (it only gets worse over time until addressed), I feel like I made the right choice going to Charlottesville Eye to have the work done.

We have always received very personalized service from this business. Both my husband and I have…read morepurchased several pairs of glasses here. If there is a problem, they work with you until you have glasses that work for you.

I just moved to the Charlottesville area and I picked this business at random based on reviews…read morebecause UVA would have taken me a year to get into. The staff is amazing. They were on top of insurance info and not pushy when I was selecting the perfectly weird "me" frames. From start to finish this was a great experience. The office is extremely clean and the entire staff was COVID conscious, wearing masks for the entire process. A staff member was out sick so I spent most of my visit with the doc. He is extremely nice and friendly. Also funny and witty with his dad jokes. I never felt rushed and he took a genuine interest in my eyes. He explained everything before we started so I was aware of what I would be experiencing. He made it clear we could stop at any point if I needed to. I felt he was extremely professional and answered all of my questions. He explained all the results of my tests. It made me feel better about the process once I understood some of my eye issues. Thank you to everyone at Horizon Family Eye Care. You made this new resident feel welcome and at home. I will be back for all of my eye care needs.

I took my son there for contacts and it was the worst patient care experience that I have ever had…read more Dr. Zarella is a rude person and blames his staff on the miscommunications involving his staff. they told us 3 times that my son's contacts were in stock and they were not. they have us the contacts without verifying that they were my son's.
