I initially had my wedding dress tailored by a tailor that didn't do exactly what I asked with my dress. Because of this, I was upset & refused to take my dress back there. I needed an alteration done to my wedding dress at the very last minute as I leave the country tomorrow morning. I searched Google, called around & ended up here. I couldn't be any happier or anymore grateful than I am! Nury worked on my dress and had it back to me by mid-day. She altered my dress to exactly how I initially wanted it done & she pressed it for me without me even having to ask. I can not for the life of me understand some of the bad reviews. Not only is she great at what she does, she is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She talked to me about life and true happiness which by her personality, you can just tell that she is truly happy. She loves what she does and she seems to be great at it as well. She has customers that have been coming to her for years, each time I came in her shop... she had a customer. She's moved shops several times as they've tried to raise her rent higher and higher in some plazas and she still manages to find a place within the same area/proximity to deliver quality work to the people. She's great. Again, i'm thankful that she was able to take the time out of her day and do very last minute alterations for me for such an important day. I think that her business deserves more of a shine and if anyone needs a tailor, she is 100% the person to go to. read more

Called in to get an estimate on the price for hemming jeans. The business owner was very rude and said I would have to come in person "like a normal person" to know the price.. I explained I just need an estimate since I work and would not want to drive all the way there and not even know the price. She was very argumentative. Not the way to deliver customer service. Save your time and energy for a company that wants to accommodate. read more

I almost don't want to tell you about her because then she will be too busy for me! But I have to. Nury is awesome! Prices are a little higher than others but I guess you get what you pay for. This, my friends, is top notch. I drive her a little crazy because, like she says, I don't do alterations. I reconstruct clothing. Take this out, put a zipper here, cut the sleeve, drop the front to here, etc. But, she does it all and well. She even hems jeans like the True Religion's with the same white thread so that it looks the same and not "hemmed". Love her! read more

I found University Alterations by googling Alteration places in my area. This is the 1st place that came up and I'm so glad I went there. For one, it's close to where I live and 2, Nury is very very nice and she does great work. She is reliable, communication is great and she is punctual. I really hate to do this but I have to give a one star. I called over the phone to get a general idea of how much it costs to get a shirt tailored. She said she couldn't give me a price over the phone. I asked her just ball park a general idea am I looking at 10, 20, 30 dollars? Then she got nasty and told me "if you're looking to alter your shirt price shouldn't matter I don't conduct business over the phone". I simply responded I have about 10 shirts I need adjusted for work and I'm shopping around to get an idea of price and she said "it doesn't matter, I don't conduct business over the phone unless you bring your shirts in this conversation is over" and she hung up. This was completely uncalled for and rude. At least point me in the right direction as I am a "new customer" seeking to get shirts tailored for the first time.... read more

If she showed up maybe I would have given her one star but this lady was the most disrespectful person I ever spoke to. I called her and set up a confirmed appointment to bring my 6 year old child down to get fitted for a custom dress. I said I will be driving a long way to come to you so please let me know if you can't make the appointment. She said " yeah yeah yeah". We drove over 30 miles to get there today and she never showed up or called. What a rude, uncaring person. Shame on you!!! read more

this old asain lady is very disrespectful!!!!!! please do yourself a huge favor and take your business elsewhere!!!! most importantly save yourself the disappointment!!!!!!! please allow me to share my experience with you. her measurements weren't done to my liking. i paid her and even tipped her for her service. after i got home i tried on the garments only to realize that it didn't fit accordingly. i returned to her business the next day and asked her politely to kindly make the necessary adjustments. she said i would have to pay full price again. i reminded her that i tipped her generously and i had already paid full price !!! she began getting hostile and started yelling at me. at that very moment it was just her and i inside the small unit. she even threatened to call the police!!! i couldn't believe how rude she was acting. seconds later a young black female opened the door and walked in to catch her unprofessionalism, witnesses her anger, and aggression. thats when she tried to stop all of sudden but it was to late. the young black female asked for a price quote and thought it was too expensive. i then explained what she walked in on. she then decided to take her business somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!! as result, of losing that potential customer. she then kicked me out of her establishment. please don't support this business she doesn't know the value of a dollar !!! nor will she treat you with respect. her prices aren't competitive so by going somewhere else your guaranteed to find a more reasonable price and quality service. thank you for reading and please share my testimony. i hope this helps someone!!!!!!! read more

When I first dropped off my pants for alteration the woman was very nice. I paid in advance with my debit card. She called me the day it was to be ready and let me know she was a day behind which was very nice of her. She then called the next day and advised I would need to pay again since her merchant did not process the transactions from Saturday. I advised her that was incorrect. It was a lot of back and forth & eventually she allowed me to take my items but was reluctant even though I gave her a copy of it clearing my bank. She was insistent on not giving her work away for free. (Now that I think about it, I think she may have been stalling a day to see if it cleared her bank) Her work was good. My only issue is that I am so short and one pair of skinny jeans had to be trimmed so much that the resulting ankle size was wide and she did not taper it. They look kind of bootcut now. Pricing was $11/jean & $14/work pant. After telling my co-worker this story she said she had also been there once and never went back. I'd like to believe she was sincere in the fact that she was concerned about not having received the funds but at the end of the day that was her merchant and I provided proof of payment. I've been here twice so far and was very pleased with the results. I went to another tailor close by and he kinda creeped me out. I didn't want to be in the shop alone with him. Anyway, I've had pants done here and curtains. The pants were last minute on my part but Nury was very accommodating. Both, the pants & curtains, were perfect. I will definitely be back. The shop takes Credit cards, but prefers cash. As a small business owner I understand this since CC companies charges fees for each transaction. read more

University alterations is a great place to go if you need Alterations done and done RIGHT! affordable and friendly service. Places like this one are hard to find. Just had two other disappointing experiences at other locations a few minutes away. (European tailors being one of them) don't go there if you can help it. The lady who works here is such a refreshing person and kind of gives you hope for humanity and customer service , I ended up talking with her for over and hour!. lol Great energy, experience and service .
