I was recently referred by a retired tailor to come to this location and I couldn't be happier that I did! I had a brand new pair of men's dress pants that needed to be hemmed. I had been to two previous tailors/seamstresses in Fort Lauderdale and was quoted $30 and $35. I thought the prices were outrageous and put getting them cuffed on the back burner. When I walked into the shop today, which is immaculate, stylish and what a tailor/seamstress shop should look like, I was warmly greeted by a man and a woman who were smiling. That makes a huge impression and difference when walking into any type of business! I showed them my pants, asked how much to hem/cuff them and was told $18! I put them on in their more within a more than adequate dressing room, stood up on the platform, the tailor marked them appropriately and said they'd be done in one week. I reminded him that would be on Thanksgiving. He laughed and said that Friday! The process was so easy that when you pay, they input your name and cell phone number into their computer, so when one pays, they're instantly sent a text receipt reflecting the customer's name, order number, job being done and cost of the job. Amazing experience. Husband and wife handle the alterations. Quick experience from measurement to the final hemming. Had 2 gowns for a formal wedding in Miami. They rushed to have it done in one week. Other places in the area were not nice and wouldn't do it. This place is a God Sent and will only use them here going forward. I posted on Yelp that I needed a cotton dress hemmed. They responded they could do it and offered a 10 percent coupon on Yelp if I clicked on it. Went by and they quoted me a $30 fee which I considered a little high since the job could all be done by machine. When I mentioned the coupon they denied offering it. Okay, $3 is not going to make me or break me. The gentleman there pinned the hem, took my information, then asked me to pay up front. I've had many items altered in my life and have never been asked to pay up front. He told me unless I paid he couldn't do the job. I took my dress to a dry cleaners that offers alterations. They are going to charge me $20 and did not ask me to pay up front. read more

I got this dress from the thrift store for $5 and it is a XL. I am a 6-8 dress size so I need the bust line taken in and the patent leather belt shortened/adjusted to my wait size. This dress fits like a glove and you can not tell that it has been altered at all! I made this decision as a spur of the moment decision so I am sorry I do not have a before and after, but there will be more alterations in the future and I will post fire and after photos then. The couple that owns the shop is so sweet and professional and their shop is so elegant, professional and quaint. I came in for my bridesmaid dress to be hemmed as it was too long. The two women who helped me were incredibly sweet and helpful with me and being fitted properly (I am 6mo pregnant and was freaking out about everything for the dress!) Experienced beautiful customer service from the owner himself--a local boutique that also does alterations of incredible quality. The people there are nice, but the experience was not. Dropped two gowns off to be minimally shortened. Also needed to be taken in on top a little. I emphasized I did not want the gowns tight in the waist. I was assured they would not be. Was told they would be ready in 2 weeks. Dropped by 2 weeks later and was told they are not done yet, but in 2 days they would be. Came back, tried them on, both were fine in the length but they were tight in the waist. I left them there to be loosened back up in the waist. I was told I would be texted when they were done. Did not receive anything, so I visited another 2 weeks later, on a Friday. Was told they were not done. Next day I suddenly get a call that they are done. Drove back. One dress was ok in the waist, the other still as tight as before. I was not happy. He said he had no more material to work with to loosen it more. I told him I wish he had never touched the waist lines, they were never a problem. It was very costly for what was done, and I really wish I could tell you it was worth it, but it wasn't. I really felt that I was not listened to and that my gowns were only paid attention to when I made a presence. Update: I went back and expressed that the length of the gowns was good. The one gown's waistline, however, is tight and will need to be loosened somehow to make it comfortable. Received reimbursement for the alteration of the waistline on that gown. read more

For years, I have looked around the Fort Lauderdale area for someone who really could do "fine" alterations and now I have found them. The new managers, and I believe they are the owners are terrific. They complete your requests correctly and on time! They even saved a wonderful leather purse that the strap had broken off. Highly recommend! I recently purchased a very expensive customized Carharrt work coat for my boyfriend and when I received it, it was way too large. I didn't know if it was able to be tailored because of the inside fabric of the jacket and the customization but when I took it in to Benjamin's Alterations, they said it wouldn't be a problem. They basically had to take apart and redo the entire jacket including the sleeves, shoulders, and body. I just picked it up and I could not be happier. It looks amazing, you would never even know it was altered and it only took a weeks time, plus very affordable and they give you the price up front. Thank you so much! My late grandmother had left me her dress from 1957 that had never been cleaned! I contacted Benjamin's to get it cleaned and altered (she was also shorter than me!). I live in NYC and the wedding was in Florida, so it was best to just do everything down there. Victoria was AMAZING. Not only did she get it cleaned, the spots that could not be cleaned we replaced with other fabric and it looked like the original dress! I would bring ANYTHING to them to be cleaned and/or altered. They did an EXCELLENT job on the alterations and the price was very reasonable. The only issue I have with them is that their hours of operation are a little inconvenient. They are not opened past 5pm on the week days, which makes pickup/dropoff difficult for anyone with a m-f job. They are open on Saturday. read more

First off the staff is extremely friendly. That's the first plus. The location is easy to find and looks good inside. I walked in knowing exactly how I wanted my suit tailored to fit me and after trying it on after completion I'm happy to say it was done exceptionally well. I got my pant legs hemmed, jacket sleeves and jacket length shortened. I'm extremely happy with the attention to detail as well. The prices are competitive with what I've paid for in the past for the same work. I've been searching for a tailor for my suits for months now and although I have a tailor by my house that does good work as well, I will definitely be coming back here in the future despite it being 15 mins away from my job and the hours conflicting with my work schedule. I needed a lot of work on my wedding dress and it only took her 2 weeks; hem, taken in, cups and bustle. The first fitting went well I felt very confident when I left the store. By the second fitting she had only taken in my dress and put cups in the bra. When I put it on she took it in too much that I could barely sit down. Needless to say I was a little worried. The last fitting went really well the hem, bustle were done and she had taken out the seam so I had room to breathe! The dress looked beautiful and I was truly happy with the results. The job cost $570, which Yelp had a 15% coupon witch they honored bringing the price down a little. This place is VERY pricy but she did what I asked and it looked beautiful. The only complaint is have during the wedding was my bustle didn't last and I had to use a safety pin the whole night. I gave it 3 stars bc of the price and the fact she had to take the dress back out and bustle didn't work. But she does beautiful work! read more

I have been a customer here for several years and was always pleased with the work and price. This year, there is clearly a new owner.(along with another woman) The woman who waited on me gave me a handwritten slip of paper with $2 to replace a button on one blouse and $5 to repair a straight machine hem on one sleeve of another blouse. She said cash only under $10 when I picked it up, and she did NOT give me a machine or "official" receipt. When I picked it up, it was suddenly $22! I would not have left it at that price. The seamstress (owner?) insisted she had done more work and had even fitted and pinned the top for me. I had never put the blouse on for anyone to fit in that store! I indeed had not seen the seamstress before as I worked only with the woman at the counter. I refused to pay the revised amount, and she let me take the blouses at the original price. I can assure anyone that this is some kind of scam--making out a hand written receipt on a scrap of paper and then insisting more work was done at the time of payment. One DOES NOT forget being fitted and pinned in a blouse that needs a simple machine hem on the sleeve. read more

I had a horrible experience in this place. When I dropped off my wedding dress I was told to come back in 2 weeks to pick it up. They made me an appoint which was only a week before my wedding. I asked for a rush but was told they needed 2 weeks. When I went to pick it up they told me they forgot to work on my dress. They hadn't done anything on it, the two ladies there were unapologetic and just said "sorry we forgot". This was not the aggravation I needed so close to my wedding day. I brought my dress here because of their great reviews online, I even agreed to pay their high prices because I trusted them. They quoted me $410 for a dress that was my size and only needed minor alterations. They wanted to charge me $90 to steam it.
