I had a bad first impression with this place. I'm kinda frustrated that they have a book an appointment option online and state that you'll be contacted shortly for confirmation. That did not happen. The website doesn't clarify that appointments are for primary care only and urgent care services for things like a TB Skin Test or a Physical Exam are walk-in only. I wish that was more clear online, so I wouldn't have to waste my time waiting for a response that wasn't coming. At the least, they could've called and said that my appointment is not confirmed and I should just walk in! Asking questions about new patient paperwork was met with ineptitude and confusion. Front reception could not tell me what some of the acronyms meant, so neither of us knew how to fill it out. While she shared that they received new forms, I just can't believe that's something they haven't familiarized themselves with. I walked in early today so the wait wasn't long. The doctor was quick yet clear during my visit. Any questions with him or the nurse was followed by assurance. When I returned for my follow-up the visit was short and straightforward. The follow-up was better than my initial visit. My gripe is really just their website and front desk. read more

I woke up with a sore throat and a bad cough. I went to Universal Urgent Care on Ming Avenue. I was miserable. There was a nice lady at the reception desk, who was very professional. I was seen very quickly by Dr. Akanno. He was so nice and understanding. I was in and out in 30 minutes. There is a pharmacy conveniently located right next door. These people can't do anything right! They tried to make a blind woman fill out paper work. She had to address the office lady and say, "MAAM, I'm visually impaired." During my visit with Dr. Ike, he prescribed me a medication I'd stated (multiple times in writing) I was severely allergic to. I had already left the office and had to drive back and ask for a different medication... THEN they sent the meds to the wrong pharmacy. Like, get it together!! read more

I've had multiple bad trips to this urgent care. Do NOT waste your time. The last time was the last straw. Never again. I have acid reflux that sometimes the symptoms is more than I can handle. I explained my issue to the front desk and i was told to go to the ER..... It was not appropriate for the EMERGENCY room. They asked if I had certain symptoms and I assume they were checking if I was having a heart attack. I said no to all of their questions and to my shock I was still told to go to the ER...... I went to the Accelerated Urgent Care on White Lane instead. They treated me better and I got help for my acid reflux quickly with an appointment. First off, we called to set an appointment, as your website states you can do. I was then told that they DO NOT take appointments, only walk ins. After waiting with my 101 year old mother the doctor finally came in. I spoke to the doctor about several possible issues, including shingles. I finally asked the doctor what he thought the pain and rash was. The doctor said " I have absolutely no idea." I then took her to a competitor Urgent care and within seconds of the doctor walking in, he said "You have shingles." I would NOT use this Urgent Care!!! read more

So we took my Mother inlaw to this Universal Urgent Care on Ming Ave and the Nurses and the Doctor kept putting her to the back of the line and she was there for hours waiting, she has mobility issues and is in a wheelchair and yet they was very rude to her!!! The receptionist was taking personal phone calls laffing on the phone and we heard her gossiping about a patient to whoever she was on the phone with, when I addressed this to the Male Doctor he asked me to leave with my Mother in-law unseen or treated. read more

Got a call this afternoon from Malea over at Universal Urgent Care on Ming. It was a great experience due to everything going on with the Covid-19. This call made my day knowing someone cares and just checking up on us, yes the whole family. We were in before the epidemic with flu symptoms so they were following up on my daughter just to make sure she was ok. The nurse was very nice and answered all my questions and concers. I went in for a multiple day migraine to get some help. They wouldn't give me the shot I usually do get there that helps me so much. Instead the dr prescribed me a prescription that my insurance didn't cover so I called back and they said they would send in a new prescription which he never did, the dr was Fernando Mata. I just received my 1st Covid vaccine at the Ming Universal Urgent Care. It was a great experience! The staff were all very kind, professional and helpful! Dr. Bawa, Karen and her team were organized and made efforts to make sure all of my questions and others were answered. The facility was clean and well kept up. My mom, son and I came in to be seen for blood coming out of his ear, he has tubes so we wanted to make sure it was normal. They turned us away with out even seeing him. The lobby was empty and was no reason they couldn't have checked him out before sending us somewhere else to be seen. Don't waste your time coming here. read more

okay so my insurance does not kick in until 2/1/2019 and of course, I got sick 1 week before my coverage started. I called a bunch of urgent cares around my area and this was the most affordable in my area. The office was clean and empty. I went in on Sunday so I was not expecting a crowd but you never know during cold/flu season. They were playing a kids cartoon so it was not too bad. I liked that the clinic was clean and tidy. The doctor that saw me was honestly one of the best doctors I have seen in a long time. I used to have Kaiser so I would wait hours when I was at urgent care. I waited less than 5 minutes and the doctor spent about 15 minutes (to me that's a lot of time when most doctors now a days are in and out in less than 5 mins) talking with me, asking my concerns and seemed genuine about helping me. His name was Dr. Patel and he was super awesome! Overall, I was really happy I picked the right urgent care. I am not lying when I say I NEVER go on Yelp to review but I left this place feeling so much better that I had to share. read more

Sat in exam room for a long time with no contact with staff. Dr Okeke finally came in barely heard the problem and made a diagnosis and wouldn't hear anything else. Got pissy when we tried to give her more information. She left and it took over half hour for nurse to show up with the shot. Never received treatment information or what meds were given. They took my insurance card information and after 2 hours of waiting they tell me they can't help me because my insurance is not covered with universal urgent care. My husband went for a COVID test checked in at approximately 3pm. He was told to sit in the car until his name was called. There was literally 4 people there.5 hours later he finally got called back, and the provider didn't want to even administer him a test. They just looked at his tonsils and gave in antibiotics for a sore throat when that's not what he went for. He was just getting rushed out because they were about to close. Which is not his problem.I called to file a complaint and the receptionist seem to have an attitude. Which again is very unprofessional. I called back again and explained to a gentleman who answered this time that he needs a test, because that is what he came for. I took me to call twice and complain for them the give him his test. Wonderful service, starting from the entrance when the greeter quickly comes out to find out why you're there then checks your temp. There was 2 patients in front of me so the front desk gal was gracious enough to let me know the provider would be going to lunch after the 2nd one, did I wanna go and come back so I wouldn't have to sit there and wait. Most certainly I did. Upon return I was the 1st patient in the back. The Dr. was quick to diagnose and make treatment suggestion, the MAs we're so great! Very attentive, quick and super gentle with my Rocephin shot. He was training a new gal. I sat for a bit to make sure I was good and back to work I went. I visited and liked the facility, some of the employees, but there is this person should not be representing the company I dont know if she is the person in charge either irene or ilene but she is so rude to patients and yells(well talks to them in a harsh way) to co-workers. I went in to be seen because I was very Ill with a fever, light headed, body aches, shortness of breath, etc but did not feel it was an emergency so I didn't want to clog up the ER. I had to wait over 5 hours to be seen. They do not have a process where sick patients are seen first. This office is locked but there are MA inside able to assist patients and they have their doors locked. The car is parked outside they say me trying to be seen with my son because this is the only office that accepts medical and private insurance and I'm not even going to be able to be treated because the MA want to be lazy and lock their doors before regular hours. This place is one of the most poorly managed urgent care facilities I have ever been to. The place is huge with a big waiting room and lots and lots of exam rooms in the large back area. Unfortunately, management chooses to severely understaff the place and had only one girl in front, one medical assistant, and one provider on site for a busy Saturday afternoon. Wait time was ridiculous. When I went back up to the front desk to ask how much longer it would be, she told me that we were next because the "doctor and assistant" were still working on a procedure. We finally got seen by the medical assistant who then left us in the room and told us the the "doctor" would be with us shortly. After another long wait, a disheveled man wearing a visably dirty lab coat that was covered in black and brown smudges with pen marks all over comes into our room to basically just tell us we are done and can leave. We try to ask for a prescription for our treatment (not narcotics), and he tells us that they don't do prescriptions at this urgent care. What??? I ask him why is it that as a doctor, he can't write prescriptions? He just says in broken English that he doesn't do that. I then notice that he had no badge or id displayed on him like the medical assistant had. So I asked him if he was an actual M.D. or D.O. This is where he finally admits that he isn't a doctor at all and claims he is a physician's assistant(With no id or credentials, how do I really know he is even telling the truth?) I'm pretty sure there are rules about displaying proper identification for treating patients and that everyone should not have been referring to him as the "doctor". This is quite misleading and gives the patient the false pretense of being seen by an actual licensed physician for medical care. Falsly misleading patients to believe they are seeing a "doctor" is tantamount to practicing medicine without a license. This whole visit has been frustrating and a complete waste of our time. Management, if you see this, please train your staff to not refer to PA's as doctors and make sure your providers have proper identification on them while treating patients. read more

I'm giving this place a one star for their lack of understanding on their billing system. A couple of days ago I brought my son in and they couldn't access my insurance because it was on a weekend and after hours. I was willing to pay my copay but they said they couldn't that they would bill me. Okay, fine with me. So, now it's my turn to come in and be seen after hours and I figured they would bill me for the copay just like they did the other day. Unfortunately I didn't come prepared (my fault) but I was hoping they would bill me because I had no cash and my atm card was reported stolen and it's on it's way. I asked the girl to ask her manager if I could be billed as I explained the situation and I was denied. So either you can bill or not????? I had to call someone to bring me the money I know it's my fault for not being prepared but they should of looked up my son to collaborate-my story and shown me some curtesy. Just want to say this urgent care is not professional at all, first off there's a sign at to door that says wait for your temperature to get checked, waited 5 minutes and since no one came out I opened the door and asked if I get screened inside or outside the girls were confused at the front desk and asked what the reason was to be seen after all that I was told I couldn't be seen because I had my baby with my who is only 15 months, I've been to other urgent cares recently with her and haven't had a problem I work for an urgent care myself I told her and we make exceptions one of the girls was on the phone and literally yelled at me while I was on the phone to tell me "well this is a different urgent care so you can't be seen" her name was crystal, that was rude and uncalled for they lost a patient for sure!!! read more

Worst place ever!! I went there to get tested for covid 19. The doctor told me that I had to quarantine myself until I got my results. They said it will be 3-5 days. Five days into being quarantine i called Universal Urgent Care they said they just sent my covid test in to get tested. Universal Urgent Care said I have to quarantine myself again 3-5 days. My mother and I had an extremely bad experience at the Universal Urgent Care on Ming Avenue. We were seen by NP Anu Bawa who was extremely condescending, rude, and unprofessional. My mother had been suffering from a persistent cough for the past three weeks. Nothing that was over the counter had worked, including Mucinex DM and Robitussin DM which both contain the same active ingredients. I understand Anu Bawa's statement that this was a lingering cough that would take time to get over since I am a pharmacist myself who has witnessed this prevalent respiratory infection here in the community on multiple occasions. Additionally, we understood that the Keflex was hopefully going to treat the underlying cause of her symptoms. However, Ms. Bawa was in no way empathetic or compassionate to my mother's frustration and grief about this cough that was causing her extreme discomfort and exhaustion. The point of our visit was to hopefully get an alternative medication to help with the symptoms. If Ms. Bawa had done her job as a provider and LISTENED to what we had to say, things would not have escalated to the point that it did where both parties ended up upset. Essentially, the way she came off as was that she wanted to send us back out without having done anything to address my mother's issue. When my mother pressed the issue and asked whether she was to continue Robitussin DM when it wasn't even working, Ms. Bawa said "It's up to you whether you want to continue it or not. I'm not stopping you." This to me, is not an appropriate answer as a health provider. You are just saying that you refuse to help in any way. She also stated that there is nothing else out there besides Robitussin DM when this is totally false. She should have actually INTERVIEWED and LISTENED to my mother to get to the root of what sorts of things were causing the cough (was it postnasal drip that needed a decongestant component, was it a cough that originated from allergic component, etc). She, in her pride, was just quick to point out that we were wrong to self medicate with Mucinex DM to begin with because my mother's cough had been a dry cough. Well, come to find out, the NP at the SAME urgent care from the Friday prior had given us Robitussin DM, which is ALSO the same thing as Mucinex DM. Instead of holding onto her narcissistic pride and try to just show us how much she knew, she should have taken that precious time during the appointment to get to the root of the cause. When I, as a health professional, suggested a prescription for Bromfed syrup (brompheniramine, pseudoephedrine, and dextromethorphan), I believe she did not take my recommendation out of spite for us and due to her pride, which was more important than taking care of her patient at this point. She gave us a prescription for Sudafed PE cough and cold syrup which contains a totally ineffective decongestant (phenylephrine) and Tylenol (which she does not need because she is NOT in pain and also DOES NOT have a fever). When I asked the front receptionist to speak to Ms. Bawa after the appointment to get this changed to Bromfed, she AGAIN refused to write this prescription (which I do not understand because this is not a narcotic) and gave us an even more ineffective medication (Dimetapp). Not only was Ms. Bawa incredibly prideful, rude, and unprofessional and made us angry, but I can say as a fellow health professional that she is completely incompetent and useless and I hope you will really question whether she needs re-training in her medical knowledge as well as her bedside manners. read more

My mom took my grandmom here a couple of days ago for weakeness and dizzy feelings. I was disapointed when they took her blood sugar on her finger.
