I came here as my last attempt of making my opportunity to leave work early not in vain, with my hopes on the floor. Bro (never got this goat's name- taller, older guy with glasses) nonchalantly says he can squeeze me in. It may have just been another redundant smog check for the guy, but to me that shred of kindness brought me above an otherwise hectic and frustrating evening. Plus, he was done in like 10 minutes tops. May both sides of your pillow remain cold, my good sir. Would come here again in 2 years, though ideally a lot earlier.

A DMV Visit That Didn't Feel Like a DMV Visit Let's be…read morehonest--nobody wakes up excited to go to the DMV. That's exactly why I felt this location deserved a review. I stopped by the Davis DMV without an appointment and was pleasantly surprised by how quick and efficient the entire process was. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out, my entire visit took just 54 minutes. For a DMV visit without an appointment, that's pretty impressive. The location itself isn't very large, which actually seemed to work in its favor. Everything felt organized, and the flow of customers moved much faster than I expected. What really stood out was the customer service. The staff was friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful. At one point, I realized I was missing an important document and thought my visit was about to take a turn for the worse. Instead, they allowed me to run out to my car to grab it and held my place rather than making me start the process over or wait behind additional customers. That level of understanding made a stressful situation much easier. The only reason this isn't a full 5-star review is the restroom situation. The bathrooms are definitely on the smaller side and have a bit of an old-school feel to them. If you're a germaphobe, you may want to bring a paper towel or rag to open the door on your way out. Overall, this was one of the smoothest DMV experiences I've had. Fast service, helpful employees, and a total visit time of only 54 minutes is not something you hear every day when talking about the DMV. If you're dreading a DMV trip and don't have an appointment, give the Davis location a shot. They won't make you love going to the DMV--but they might make you hate it a whole lot less.

Today I had to scan a QR code in order to get a place in line. The place in line consisted of a letter and a two digit code. But this time it wasn't on a sheet of paper. It was a webpage, https://mt-cadmvoas.us.qmatic.cloud/branches complete with the position in the queue. Yeah, I'd forgotten to make an appointment but this went OK. Had enough time to wait for the numbers and letter to be called out. Sadly, I'd left one of the signature boxes left empty so I had to go get a valid signature. Upon leaving, the desk lady gave me a QR code in order to get a place "in line" (virtually) before I returned! Still had to wait a bit when I got back. But the text message system tries to get you back on time. Anyways, took care of all my business and we're good to go for another year at least. It's a very decent DMV office.

The value was good for the price, and they cleaned it thoroughly inside and out, restored the front headlights, and made the tires SHINE. It looked like a new car. I went shopping afterwards that day, and honestly didn't recognize my car at first because it looked so good. Honestly, this shop is the best, and I'll keep coming here for my Smog, Repair, and Detailing needs. I think I first came by in 2017 with a 2000 Camry that kept overheating. This was the third or fourth place I'd taken it, and he found the problem quickly. I said something to the effect of how bad the other shops must have been, and he DEFENDED them, saying the work they did let him skip several diagnostic steps and made it easier for him to discover the problem and fix it. It was a pretty unusual issue, to be fair. They say when you find a good shop, don't let go. The service, friendliness, honestly, and prices will keep me sticking to this place like glue for years to come! I love that Jon breaks down repairs that are "Do Now" versus "Do Soon" with estimates, and makes sure the vehicle is roadworthy.

I headed over with my old 1998 Volvo at around 10:45 on a Thursday. When I came in I was told it might be 11/2 hours before my car would be done, especially since I had an older car that generally takes longer. As I was at the counter I felt something pressing against my leg. It was the owner's dog. After greeting me he returned to laying down next to the counter. The other two customers who arrived after me didn't get the canine greeting. I feel special. Before I knew it, my car was done, it only took 1/2 hour. It costs $10 more to smog check an older car so my total was $95. Oh, and my car passed. I'll be back in 2 years as I intend to keep my old reliable car.
