I've been coming here for over 8 years. It's going down Leslie the girl who sits in the front is very rude, dishonest and disrespectful with her mouth. She is no help to patients she is the worst person to have people deal with. I'm not sure who is doing the hiring here lance the CEO or Pamela the manager but it has to get better. It's a lot of lovely people who would love to work that knows how to speak with patients. Leslie attitude sucks. I've never thought I'll write such a review about this place but I'm now looking for another place I can't deal with incompetent people when a patient is in a lot of pain and have to deal with nonsense is ridiculous. No management nor lance return calls to patients with concerns which is a huge concern never be to busy for patients it's not a good look. It's a downfall for business. Linda, the new patient coordinator is awful. I was in desperate need of medical help and pain relief. I was in & out of E.R. and my Dr referred me to Pain Management. I called for a whole week. No call back. I finally told the receptionist I would hold for Linda because I was so desperate to get seen asap. I held for 20 minutes. Finally got Linda. She told me I needed to send my medical records. I told her my Dr would send them within the next 10 minutes. Asked if she could call me back to confirm she received them and to schedule the appointment. Waited the rest of the day. No call back. I called around 4pm, had to leave a message again for Linda. The next day, no call back. Waited another day, and still no call. I called and left another desperate message for her to call me back. She called several hours later. She repeated herself and told me I needed to send medical records. I told her my Dr did two days ago. She didn't even remember she spoke to me. I asked if she received my medical records. She said "I don't know, I haven't gone over there yet". She hasn't checked faxes in two days?? Wow. She said she would call me once she received them. One week later I get a call to finally schedule my appointment. Nothing available for another two weeks, and even then, it would be with a Nurse Practitioner. Unbelievable. I had no choice so I took the appointment. The NP I saw was just ok. She seemed upset the entire time she was in the room with me. I went over my history with her. I cried and begged her to help me with the pain I was in. It was excruciating. She said she couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. She gave me about three different diagnosis (one was a 'blanket' diagnosis that tells a patient they have 'unknown pain'). No... I didn't. I can pinpoint the area my pain is located in. One area. As I was leaving, I mentioned to the NP, her assistant, and the girls at the nurse station that I used to see Dr Kohan there several years ago, and how great of a Dr he was with helping me. They all stayed silent and just gave each other these weird awkward looks. Do they not like him? Anywho, I made a second appointment one month out. I made sure it was with an actual Dr this time. I called two days prior to that, to cancel that appointment, only to be told that they changed my appointment to one day earlier, and made it a video call instead of an in person visit. I was pissed!!! How would a Dr examine my body and gauge my pain on a video call? I asked the receptionist why no one called to tell me they changed my appointment day and method of visit? She said she didn't know. BEWARE!!! This place has a history of changing appointments without telling the patient! I don't think there's any good Pain Management places in the AV. Do yourself a favor and go down to Santa Clarita or L.A. I agree with most reviews, the reception staff and Linda (new patient coordinator) are rude, uncaring and have lots of attitude. After calling and complaining the CEO (Lance Jackson) reached out and verbally assaulted me for 15min defending their staff's actions refusing to do any actual digging into the matter. They are far and above Universal Pain Management. Universal Pain Management NEVER sent me a detailed invoice after many, many requests of how they arrived at their total. I don't know how Linda, their new patient coordinator ended up getting a job here. It must be a favor from a family friend, but she's absolutely awful. I was referred here over a month ago from my orthopedic due to an auto accident. My attorney called and left her several messages that went unreturned during that time period. I finally got her on the phone yesterday, 11/10/21, and she informed me that by returning or calling an attorney she's soliciting their services. My attorney called and finally got her on the phone same day, to where everything was set up to make an appointment. She called and left me a voicemail to call her and schedule said appointment. I called her back, voicemail, and not returned. I called today, 11/11/21 to book an appointment and she must of gotten amnesia, or dipped into the pain medication overnight because she said she had to talk to my attorney to schedule said appointment (which was done the prior day). This is an awful facility. When I first ask for an appointment they gave me one in 2 months. How can you wait for 2 months when dealing with pain? Then I finally got and appointment with an NP who gave me pain medications. FF up was in 1month. I finally opted for an epidural. That procedure was excruciatingly painful that Valium was not sufficient. I asked for time off from work because I was told it takes about 1-2 weeks for the treatment to take effect. My doctor was hesitant to give me time off. Does he expect me to hobble while I work? I am also a health care practitioner who goes from one patient to another. I am not malingering. The front office is also so screwed up about scheduling. I have received cards for my next appt but then I was told it was not scheduled. I have been asked to pay my co pay for a phone visit which was not recorded so my appt was cancelled. We patients are not just numbers. Have some compassion for those who are in pain. I've been going here for about 6 years now. I've seen every doctor. I have RFA/RFL'S multiple times a year. This has brought me such a major reduction in my pain. The staff there is wonderful. I have chronic pain, fibromyalgia among other ailments. I was referred to this practice by my family doctor. They are very knowledgeable about all ailments and how to treat them different ways to help the patients. They do cognitive therapy, behavioral health, pain management, etc..... the front office staff is always friendly and very helpful. I went to UPM for the first time last week. My first impression wasn't great as the waiting room was packed and noisy. However, first impressions are not always correct. I arrived early, and was pleased when I was taken back to the exam room exactly on time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was seen by Dr. Kohan who was outstanding. He took a lot of time with me, answered all of my questions, and expertly explained my medical issues and possible remedies for them. I have seen multiple doctors for my injury and he was the first to thoroughly explain why I was feeling the pain I had. The office staff, while a little overwhelmed, was still courteous and professional as they worked with my schedule in scheduling future appointments. Dr. Jennifer was very kind and thorough which I appreciated so I had high hopes for this place. And after my first and only visit the front desk was so rude I've never had such a terrible experience. They hung up on me on 3 different occasions, then proceeded to ignore my calls when one of my medications had an issue that I needed the doctor to resolve I couldn't get it done and therefore went a week without my medication. Richard doesnt listen. After telling him over and over that I was tolerant to the pain medicine I had been taking, he just kept giving me the same thing, same amount. Month after month. My job is very physical. I cant do it when I am in so much pain. I kept telling him that. I do not like feeling like I am handicap all the time. Hunched over on my day off. Dying at the end of my shift. Still, no help from him. So, I ran out early. I had to do what I had to do. They automatically looked at me as either a drug addict or a drug seller. Not sure. But just told to fly a kite. They didnt take in to consideration my pain was not being managed. I got an epidural there, that did nothing. I got a lot of shots in my neck, but that was for tense muscle pain. That helped a little. There needs to be more than just meds that end up being not helpful. I was hoping to try something different my body wasnt used to already. Nope. Just stopped my meds. So I quit my job. Nobody needs to ruin themselves for a job. But also if you are pain management, how about managing pain. How about listening to the patient? read more

My first time trying Universal Pain management and it took a month to get an appointment with Dr Sadik. I saw the doctor for a few minutes, and my procedure was scheduled another month out. I had severe neck pain and waited two months. Days prior to the procedure they told me they were going to give me anesthesia, which was never discussed--what was the consultation for? I had this neck procedure several times in the past with another doctor and there was never any question of anesthesia, and I refused it. The day prior to the procedure they called to go over it with me, and it turns out they scheduled it for the wrong side of my neck. Then they made more excuses, so I cancelled. I then received a bill for $380, my insurance paid part of it and Universal Pain Management is insisting I owe the balance. My experience with them was a disaster. read more

Been using UPM since 2005. have found the staff and doctors to be the best. Much more then Pill dispensers. The staff has been proactive in addressing my issues with my injuries. Always looking for better treatments and new methods of pain management. The staff has had my back in dealing with the insurance and the never ending denials of services. Needing surgery from the day of injury UPM never forgot my goal of living pain free. With each step of recovery from my injuries the staff was always looking forward to the next step. Finally after several surgeries a majority of my issues have been corrected the whole time UPN standing behind me supporting me in decisions and struggles with Workers comp. I can't write a review based on the in person service cause I never got that far. So this is based solely on the phone. I'm not sure what's going on with doctors offices and insurance but I called to make an appointment and the lady ran my insurance. She said oh we don't take covered California..ok that's cool I don't have that. Yea this is covered California.. no ma'am it's not don't you think I'd know if I had covered california. She proceeds to tell me yes you see since it's silver 1850 that silver means covered California. So I'm thinking I must be stupid because every health insurance company I looked at is color based by plan basic, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc. I said I promise you it isn't through covered California I'm just trying to make an appointment. Long story short, we argued for 10 minutes and I never got to make an appointment. Blue shields website shows you plans and my plan is literally that only one that cannot be offered through covered California. But I guess silver, gold, and platinum is all exed out from receiving service under the assumption is through cc.
