Great food. Burgers were incredible. We go here a lot when in the Clayton area. Mushroom Swiss burger was great.

We visit the UJoint on every trip to Clayton. We love the live music and atmosphere of the place. This visit was disappointing. After being seated for 10 minutes, the server for the table, who was seated after us, visited their table for a drink order. We went to the host stand and asked for our server. Several minutes later she appeared, with no apology for having made us wait. We placed our order at the same time as our drink order, and she returned with our drinks. Another server brought out our food, and we asked for silverware. Our server then appeared to ask how everything was. We had not yet taken a bite. Our burger was tasteless...could only taste the bacon and jalapeños, was undercooked, and missing the lettuce and onion. Our fries were terribly undercooked, and we waited for our server to return. We ate our burger anyway. She finally appeared, once we told her about the fries, she brought us another order. (We didn't mention the burger because we ate it anyway) The salad was tasty, but the onions were finely diced. Had I known this, I would have left them off. The citrus vinaigrette was delicious. All in all, not a pleasant experience. We left wondering if we would return. read more

Folks were nice, and it was busy. The food was just ok, however. I had the burger and it was dry and unseasoned. My kid had the quesadilla and it was burned. I also noticed other folks eating quesadillas and those were burnt too. read more

Fun spot, great outdoor dining. We enjoyed some fish tacos and a pimento cheese burger. Service was quick and kind.

Best cheeseburger I've had in a very long time! The char grilled flavor was AMAZING, the overloaded salad toppings were fresh and delicious. I never finish a burger but I did this time! Service was great. Prompt, attentive and friendly! The tots were hard and greasy but I'm still giving this a 5 star cause of that burger. Definitely coming back next time we pass through! read more

Super charming, great service, cool ambiance, and perfect menu for a Saturday lunch after our death march up and down the treachery of those beautiful Tallulah Gorge Park Stairclimb challenge. Worth the effort, and totally worth earning the splurge of a brisket french dip here. Or a PBLAT (yes, that's a thing, look it up, it's good.) this place stands on its own and is totally worth a scenic drive an hour or so north for a fun getaway. read more

Nicely redone old gas/service station made into a full restaurant and bar with indoor seating and a huge patio with outdoor seating (some covered). The sauces all seemed homemade, we tried the salad and burger, buffalo shrimp and wings all were good. The burger with the million island dressing was awesome as was the sauce they used on the shrimp. Full liquor bar with several beer's including local ones on tap. Easy 1 minute drive from tbe main thoroughfare 441 to "old 441" in Clayton in their small but well appointed downtown which makes going to this restaurant even more worthwhile. (Be advised 441 is a major speed trap in Clayton BTW so be careful) read more

Just ok. Maybe a step above in typical bar food in what they offer on the menu. Our real complaint was my kids wouldn't eat much because it was too spicy, & for once, they were right about that. Tater tots & chicken fingers had so much pepper some of them were practically black. read more

Nope. Sadly this place was not able to live up to the hype. I understand that they were busy and had to go to the store to supplement the items they ran out of a busy weekend. Thanks to the server, we learned that tidbit of information and steered away from several menu items. Service was great, the atmosphere was fun. The food however was subpar. I realize we're coming off a pandemic and people are not planning to handle the crowds that they are receiving. Sadly, that is reflected in this review. I might give them another try next time I'm up there, For now this is what it is. Before I go again, I'd make sure that their Kitchen didn't have to go to the nearest Piggly Wiggly to pick up food to supplement their menu. read more

I have no idea why I'm even in Georgia, nor do I really know where Clayton is on the map...but the Universal Joint is amazing! I'm so glad I went to dinner here. Went on a trip to neighboring Hiawassee and was given really strong recommendations to visit Clayton. We wandered around the adorable shops in the area until we became a little hungry. Universal Joint was buzzing with a fun atmosphere due to the college football games playing that afternoon so we decided to check it out. Service was spot-on. Space was the slightest bit cramped, but not surprising considering it was a game day. What I will say and what is currently making my mouth water.. Get ANYTHING on the menu with pimento cheese. Seriously. It's been about two months since I had the pleasure of eating here and I've been desperately looking for a place near me (sorry Tallahassee) with pimento cheese that is even close to comparable. No luck so far, but the search continues. Looking forward to any excuse I can find to visit this part of north Georgia so I can munch on that pimento sandwich yet again. read more

Would rate this three stars for the food with an extra star added for the good service we received. Server #36 you know who you are. My wife had the Southwest Quesadilla. She was disappointed that they used canned corn. Not much flavor. Although salsa was good. I had the Brisket Dip. It was good, but not great. Wont be going back - sad - because its simple problem. Their customer service is terrible. This is the 3rd time I have gone to UJ and been sat down to only watch the hostess staff chat it up at the hostess station, and multiple waitresses walk right by me, look at me, and just keep on going and ignore. To make it worse - they ignore and go and sit down and make roll ups of silverware and do prep work. HELLO!!! Guest here, Im spending money and Ive watched multple staff just walk on by in their own world. Best part is - I am there when its NOT BUSY AT ALL. There was maybe 5 patrons, and at least 3 waiters and waitresss. Am I missing something here? When I got up, the hostesses - all THREE of them in a group - went - OH, did nobody talk to you?? Since this is the third time this has happened - I have no intention of returning (and SADLY, I own a AirBnb just down the road, where guests ask all the time... where should we go... Not quite up to their usually high standard on our latest lunch visit. The egg roll appetizer wasn't as good as before; the chicken was ground instead of chunky. Still good mind you; just not as good. The cheeseburger was excellent; cooked precisely and nicely. Ordering I asked if I could get pickle sliced so I could put it on the hamburger sandwich. Used to be a big fan. Issue is service. I've been 3 times since May and have not left any reviews. Everyone has an off day and it's not fair to leave a review based on one person's bad day or lack hospitality. That being said the food is not good enough to look past inadequate service. Food is above average but certainly will not be back anytime soon. To many comparable or better experiences in the area. Part of going out is expecting to feel welcomed and feeling value in the money spent. Drinks not filled, asking for napkin's several times, asking for a side of hot sauce 3 times and never receiving it and genuinely unpleasant attitudes. The last time I went was a Thursday night and it was slow at 8pm, witnessed the I should be cut why did you seat them at my table look and it certainly carried over to our meal. read more

In a snippet, this place is great! We were passing through on our way through Clayton. Starving!! Yelp called this place out. Food was pretty spectacular. We had gyros and Greek salads. Glad we did. To it to go and ate a block away at the city corner park. Nice peaceful week night picnic. Liked it so much, we went back the next night. I mean why not? Same thoughts...grab and go because the place was pretty packed. Night 2 -Arugula salad and brisket street tacos. Grabbed the food and went to the same park. They forgot to pack us plastic wear for the salad and no dressing or sauce for tacos. However, we managed. Food was good again. 4-stars because of the no dressings and no plastic. Tiny bit of a wait for a busy Saturday but we'll worth it. Really good food. Had the Brisket dip with Au Jus and tots. You can't go wrong with tots. The shredded brisket was moist and great flavor, Au Jus only made it better. Crusty bread held it all together. Yum! Completely satisfied. read more

The location is perfect; decor is very modern. Enjoyed the games on our table. Our waiter was nice, and tried his best. We started off with an order of smoked queso and salsa. The queso was really good but the salsa was my favorite. I had a carnival punch which was great. It wasn't too sweet, and I could not taste any alcohol. It was one of those dangerous drinks that creep up on you. We ordered our main course to go. I ordered "the old" burger with fries, however i was given tots. My sister ordered a salad with olive oil on the side, which they had forgotten although the waiter insisted he put it in the bag. When we arrived to our hotel we realized there was no utensils, which they had also insisted were in the bad. The food tastes mediocre. read more

First glance is this place is interesting and upscale. Second look is the they stopped renovating when operational and didn't finish. There are so many exposed and unfinished projects inside. Now the food. I had a mushroom Swiss burger with fries. It was cooked right, seasoned well, and very tasty. The fries were great and cooked crisp with seasoning to please. This is such a cute spot and I've always wanted to dine here. Due to Covid, I decided takeout would be safer, even though tables were pretty spaced out away from one another in the patio. We ordered a few different things on the menu -- egg rolls were recommended by the guy who took my order and they were amazing! If you like poor service and subpar food, then this is your place. Today was our second and last time dining here after having basically the same experience on our previous visit nearly a year ago. The staff are just plain rude for the most part and act as though the customer is an inconvenience. The only person we encountered who seemed at all friendly and on top of things was the hostess, but everything was completely downhill from there. We ordered hummus as an appetizer. It arrived promptly but then we had to wait forever just for basic things like plates and the silverware that our server never brought even after we had to flag her down to ask. After about 15 -20 min, we were finally able to get something to eat with from the hostess as she began rolling silverware nearby. The hummus itself was not great. It was very salty and just didn't seem very fresh. We also ordered a southwest chicken quesadilla to share which also took forever. We were honestly about to get up to leave when it was finally brought out. Sadly though, it was not worth the wait and not appetizing in the least. The best part of the entire meal were the tots we ordered as a side. It's unfortunate because it is a charming location and I was really hoping for this to be our go to spot for the couple times a year we find ourselves in the area for hiking. read more

The food was excellent, there is a patio between the restaurant and the main road, which makes it a little bit difficult to see. It is a very pleasant area. The service was very good. The serving size was a good value. The decay inside was rustic and very appropriate. A friend of mine said the outside patio was also a good place to eat when the weather is good. I would comment that for our party at five people it was close inside the restaurant. At least they made space for us. I recommend this restaurant and give it a five star rating read more
