We are a small town, but we have one of the county's UPS hubs. I had been awaiting an expensive item expectantly, and was thrilled to read when out of town that it had been delivered at the front door of our house. Upon arriving home we were perplexed that no package was to be found. I asked my neighbor if his security cameras had captured a UPS truck in the neighborhood: NO! Close examination of the "Proof of Delivery" picture showed it was definitely NOT our house! We went online to file a complaint with UPS, they adamantly insisted that the item had been delivered, offering the bogus photo as "Proof,"and would not entertain either complaint or claim! This company seriously stinks. We are regular commercial customers of UPS- They are holding hostage a package that we shipped to a customer, saying it is hazardous material (which it isn't). They won't ship it past Elmsford, they won't return it, and they won't let me pick it up. if it's too hazardous to ship, why isn't it too hazardous to have sitting in their warehouse, with their employees, and all of the other packages? Nobody notified us that there was any issue with the package-I think they destroyed or lost the package and are refusing to take accountability or the financial responsibility for it. I work in a shipping office in busy pharmacy and we use UPS daily to send out many packages for our patients. The UPS hazmat team has some of the NASTIEST people I've ever encountered in this business. I had left an old hazmat label on a reused box by mistake, and although I crossed it out and there were no hazardous materials in the box, even after they realized that it was an honest mistake and no harm was done they seized the package and threatened to cancel our account. They have some NERVE treating one of their big customers like this! read more

I was waiting for a delivery to arrive from NJ and I was told that the package arrived on Friday at 12:00. I went down to the lobby to look for the package and I couldn't find it. So I went to call an agent to tell them that I couldn't find the oackage. The dispatcher then called the driver to find out where he left the package. He told the dispatcher that he left it in the management office. That was a lie because the office was locked because the agents Are working from home. When the agent told me what the driver said, she told me that the driver stuck to his story. So now I pay $30 for a package I do not have and nobody is willing to do anything to compensate. You act like you are the only game in town and that is not true. At this point I'd rather pay a little extra to Fed Ex. At least I know the package will arrive in the right hands. Shame on you. I can't express the degree of HATRED I have for UPS. People should boycott them and put them out of business. Customers are held hostage from 9am to 7pm because UPS drivers rarely check the box on their Package Delivery Attempt notices that give you an idea of the 3-4-hr. window when they MIGHT deliver a package. I'm pretty sure they're instructed to do this. You can't find out what part of the day they MIGHT deliver it, because the only phone #s are 800#s for Customer Service, who say they can't do anything about it. They claim there's no phone # for the local facility, drivers don't carry phones, and UPS headquarters in Atlanta has no direct line (except the one that Customer Service uses to contact them). Give me a break! OF COURSE a driver has a phone, and the local facility has a phone, and headquarters has a phone number! Useless UPS suggestions about receiving a package: 1) Get a neighbor to sign for the package. Like millions of other Americans, I live in an apartment building. I know only 2 neighbors. I have no idea who's home when. Even the super isn't home all day. I'm not going door to door to find a stranger who can sign for my package. Also, while I'm doing that, the package may arrive, the driver buzzes my apartment, and I'm not in, so the package will go back on the truck and I'm still stuck in the same situation. 2) Go pick up the package at their nearest facility. That facility is 1/2 hour away. Driving, waiting on line, and driving home means wasting 1 1/2 hours of my day to suit THEIR schedule. AND since you've received an Attempted Delivery notice, the package is already on the truck, so what's the point of going to pick it up, when IT'S NOT THERE?? 3) To change a delivery date or address, you can go to their website, JOIN some club, and PAY to do that! I am NOT paying UPS to do what any decent, normal delivery service does as part of its service. Plus, what good is changing the date, unless it's a day I intend to be indoors from 9 to 7, and not move anywhere in the apartment where I can't hear the door buzzer--for instance, the shower! Also, like a lot of people, I don't work at a place where I can ask someone to sign for a package, AND a lot of business aren't open from 9am to 7pm! 4) You can sign a release on the back of the Attempted Delivery notice to say that the driver can leave the package without getting a signature. Oh, really? According to UPS, if the sender requested a signature, you can't override that restriction. 5) To lift the signature requirement, call the sender and ask them to do that. My sender is a store in an airport. The person who shipped the package has a day off today. Unless that person calls into the store on his day off, and the store agrees to contact UPS to change the signature requirement, I have to wait for the package. And since the package is already on the truck, and the driver supposedly has no phone, how does s/he get the message to leave the package without getting a signature? A PERSON WHO HAS A JOB OR MUST LEAVE HOME AT SOME POINT CAN GET A PACKAGE FROM UPS WITHOUT PAYING TO HAVE IT SENT SOMEWHERE ELSE OR TO SOMEONE ELSE, TRYING TO GET THE SENDER TO CONTACT UPS TO CHANGE THE SIGNATURE REQUIREMENT, OR HAVING SOMEONE ELSE WAIT ALL DAY FOR THE PACKAGE! And of course it takes an hour or more of making calls to get all this info. What century does UPS think this is?? The 1800s, where a lot of women were home all day because they didn't have jobs or 3pm schoolchild pickups? UPS makes it almost impossible for a lot of us to get our packages, and the last thing I want is for the package to be returned to the sender, who then has to go through the sending process all over again (which a busy store is not going to want to do--plus it costs the business more money to re-send a package). Then I have to go through the same routine all over again: be a hostage for 10 hours (or more, if the driver is running late) or try to find some other person to be a hostage. I guess I shouldn't expect anything better from a company who fired 250 people for sticking up for another employee who was fired. I will NEVER use UPS for ANYTHING. I always use Federal Express, and I'd rather pay extra for their service, because they know what that word means. read more

The parcel that I ordered was supposed to be sent in 2 business days and it sat in the warehouse for 7 days before I finally contacted them due to me getting emails stating delivery the next day. After contacting them I was told they had an improper address and that's why it wasn't delivered. During that time they had my phone number and never called. After calling and getting the address straightened out I was told it would still take a day to process, which pushed it into the weekend and that doesn't count as a business day, which meant waiting another 4 days. This was supposed to be a Christmas present which they didn't seem to care that the delay affected. When I asked about a refund for the $15 I paid for 2 day shipping I was told to contact the sender. I will NEVER have ANYTHING delivered by UPS again! read more

The 1-800 UPS phone center sent me there to pick up a specialized lined envelope to ship a perishable item in. I had spoken with the telephone rep about the True Temperature envelope that I found on the UPS website. The low voltage customer service person there had never heard of this type of envelope. I had printed the brochure from the UPS website. He had never seen it and didn't have it in stock. He acted like I was wasting his time, even though he wasn't doing anything when I came in. Unfortunately this has been a consistent experience with UPS over the years, and I do everything I can to avoid them. read more
