Our waiter was attentive, explained all seasonal options, and gave us great recs! We had 2 mocktails, one called Clean Livin', which was a grapefruit Paloma with hibiscus and they were also able to make a NA Bloody Mary, which was actually delicious! Sometimes mocktails are hit or miss, but they really hit a home run with both. The beet salad was outstanding; not something I would typically order, but it was recommended and now I'm obsessed with beets?? Thanks to The Love! It was savory, a little sweet, and the herb yogurt was earthy, bright, and the perfect balance with the beets. The burrata toast was delicious too, with crispy bread, fresh strawberries, and an arugula salad. It was seasonal and bursting with flavor. I love when restaurants showcase seasonal produce and this was the perfect example to highlight seasonality. If you're in Rittenhouse Square, make your way to The Love and you won't be disappointed!

Service 5 stars Ambiance 4 stars Food -1 star Butcher Bar is located on Chestnut near 20th. Parking was surprisingly easy on this day. We ordered online for a family member who was in need of comfort food and specifically asked for steak from this spot. Online ordering was relatively easy - the menu is pretty straightforward with lots of comfort food options. On entering, there is a decidedly hipster bar vibe. It is a rather narrow space dominated by a beautiful bar adorned with copious bottles of liquor and fancy brass spigots. There are also a few simple wooden block type tables with metal chairs and an open kitchen towards the back that rounds out the hipster look. Pick-up was quick and easy. I received a friendly greeting from the hostess and even the bartender flashed a wide friendly smile. The order was packaged nicely and I delivered it promptly to its intended recipient who excitedly grabbed the packaged meal, as she had been looking forward to it all day. Sadly, the rest of the story isn't so great. The steak lacked flavor and was over cooked. I did forget to say medium but that should be the default for a place that serves primarily meat. Anyway, on getting to the bottom of the steak, she found a HAIR that looked like was placed there as part of the dish. I kid you not. I was utterly appalled by this. Suffice to say, the rest of the meal went untouched. Huge disappointment. So, it's a no for me.

The vibes are old-timey bar, without feeling dingy or out of date. The place had all the fixings of a neighborhood pub, with wood paneling and intimate booths, but still somehow felt modern. From the outside you can't tell that it has a fun tropical/tiki vibe going on. Maybe it was just for summer, but it was really fun! The servers and bartenders were all in tropical shirts, and there were other tiki touches without going full-blown Tiki Bar. The bathrooms were interesting. All the stalls are unisex, single stall, and then the sink is a big trough outside all the stalls. Unconventional, but it works. We both ordered beers - we had the Summer Love and the Philly First. Both were really good! We shared them so we could both enjoy some of each. To eat, my husband ordered a chicken Caesar wrap with fries, and I had the spicy Buddha bowl. Chicken Caesar wrap was good (hard to screw that up), and we both thought the fries were pretty good. Not the best I've ever had or anything, but good, enjoyable fries. The Buddha bowl, however, was outstanding! Cilantro rice, edamame, carrots, red cabbage, broccolini, and I added chicken for protein. It was the perfect level of spice, and a really nice balance of veggies to rice to protein. 10/10, would order again! I'm probably going to end up trying to recreate it at home. The only note I have for it (and it's super minor) is that it could maybe have a sweet or tart note added. Mandarin oranges, mango, pineapple... something like that. I would absolutely recommend stopping here! Next time we're in town I will go out of my way to go again.
