The Capital One Lounge at DIA is located in Concourse A, near Gate A34, and let me tell you, this place has become my favorite way to kick off a trip. I actually LOOK FORWARD to getting to the airport early now. Who would've thought?! Instead of sitting at the gate waiting to board, I'm relaxing with a margarita or mimosa, enjoying some delicious food, and snacking to my heart's content. Now THAT'S how you start a vacation! I LOVE how they serve their food in these cute little individual portions. It's like having your own personal tasting menu! You can sample a little bit of everything without committing to one big plate. And the food is actually DELICIOUS! Just a heads-up, though...WATCH OUT FOR THAT SAUSAGE! That little sucker has some serious HEAT! LOL! Don't forget to make a pit stop at the grab-and-go section before heading out! Sandwiches, parfaits, bottled water...yes, please! Great drinks and bartenders too. The place itself is trendy, thoughtfully decorated, and has that casual upscale vibe. Unfortunately, the place was packed to capacity. There was hardly anywhere to sit and all the booths and rooms were taken when I needed to make a work call. The dedicated Wifi wouldn't connect either, thankfully the airport Wifi sufficed. The wait to get in was about an hour which is absolute silliness. I also don't understand why, as a member, you can't just go up and do the grab to go prepackaged foods if you don't have time to wait. Not everyone has an hour to spare before a flight. Some areas were also reserved for larger parties, making the lack of seating even more frustrating. Overall, it's a nice lounge with genuinely good food, drinks, and atmosphere. But the wait times, lack of seating, and inability to grab food or use the workspace make it feel like they're operating way over capacity. They probably need to expand or open a second lounge in another terminal to ease the traffic. The whole point is to make the airport experience better and waiting an hour just to get in defeats that purpose.

This was the first time I'd seen a lounge with robots roaming around collecting empty plates. The bar, unlike other United Club lounges, had a more typical bar-like atmosphere, with people sitting at the bar or gathered around the lounge to watch TV and enjoy sports games. The food selection was also wider than at other United Club lounges. Because of my flight departure time, I only stayed for about 10 minutes, but next time I visit, I'd like to spend more time here.

There was an assistant to help, but then when computer welcomed me in, he told me I was good to enter. The lounge was quite spacious, but due to my injury, I just stayed in the bar area. I recently got a United credit card which came with two free one-time lounge passes, so this was my first ever lounge experience and I was pretty excited going in. For anyone without a pass, it's $59 per person. One heads up, single-use passes aren't guaranteed entry since the lounge gives priority to full members if things get crowded. I was a little worried about that, but luckily it wasn't too busy that day and we got in right away. Denver is a major United hub so there are actually 3 different lounges spread across the terminals, which helps keep things from getting too congested at any single location. United Club Lounge Visit ($59 value, 7/10) - Going up the escalators into the lounge felt like stepping into a completely different world, a nice escape from the chaos of the rest of the airport - Greeted with a fruit bar and a lemon honey drink that was a little sour but pretty tasty, plus a solid beer selection on tap - Restrooms were clean and easy to access - Food was a single hot section with Spanish rice, roasted Brussels sprouts and squash, chicken enchiladas, and a turkey shepherd's pie, along with pasta and a couple of soup options - Three different salads to choose from as well - Dessert section was mediocre. I have had the Breakfast Arepa and Churro French Toast. Both are excellent. The Breakfast Arepa has a delicious poached egg and achiote hollandaise sauce. The Churro French Toast really tastes like crunchy churros. The serving size is a bit small, but I guess churros are not that big in size themselves. Root Down is definitely one of my favorite airport foods, and time permitting, I buy something here to take it on the plane with me...and be the envy of those around me with mediocre airplane food.
