First off, a HUGE shoutout to my nephew Wayne for introducing me to the credit card that opened up this whole new world of airport perks. THANK YOU, WAYNE! You have forever changed the way I travel! The Capital One Lounge at DIA is located in Concourse A, near Gate A34, and let me tell you, this place has become my favorite way to kick off a trip. I actually LOOK FORWARD to getting to the airport early now. Who would've thought?! Instead of sitting at the gate waiting to board, I'm relaxing with a margarita or mimosa, enjoying some delicious food, and snacking to my heart's content. Now THAT'S how you start a vacation! I LOVE how they serve their food in these cute little individual portions. It's like having your own personal tasting menu! You can sample a little bit of everything without committing to one big plate. And the food is actually DELICIOUS! Just a heads-up, though...WATCH OUT FOR THAT SAUSAGE! That little sucker has some serious HEAT! LOL! Don't forget to make a pit stop at the grab-and-go section before heading out! Sandwiches, parfaits, bottled water...yes, please! They got snacks on snacks too: cookies, nuts, bar mix, banana chips...BRING IT! Such a convenient little perk, especially when you know airplane food isn't exactly something to look forward to. And then there's the chocolate. I mean, I'll eat it, but why does it kinda taste like plastic?! LOL! Can't win them all! The lounge itself has so many great amenities. The bathrooms are always clean and spacious, there's a family room where your kiddies can play, showers if you need to freshen up, and even private office spaces if you need to take a call or talk loudly without disturbing everyone around you. Love that they thought of all these little conveniences! My big back LOVES this place, and I have absolutely ZERO shame about it. See you before my next flight!

Take the escalator to the upper level and you will be welcome by the nicest representatives. There are plenty of bar stool seats, tables and couches, including shower room and working room. I didn't have any issue finding a seat as staffs are non-stop clearing and cleaning tables. Capital One Lounge are known for their delicious food and Denver location did not disappoint. I love the mini individual servings and unique dishes. I was ravenous after my first leg flight. The pork bao was exactly what I needed. I also really enjoy the quinoa salad and California poke. The yuzu lemon beignet was such a surprise sweet treat. The bartender made an excellent cocktail, Hot Aspen with vodka, ginger, honey, cucumber and something else. It was the right amount of spicy (from the ginger) and sweetness. Lastly, don't sleep on the grab and go section. If you have a short connection or long second leg, grab the packaged sandwiches, salads, yogurts, cookies and nuts! Tip: If your flight depart from Concourse B, allow at least 20 min to walk and take the train. Denver Airport is massive!

There was the basic bread and muffins, fruits, yogurts, and granola. However there were two breakfast burritos and those were instantly gone. There was no hot breakfast at all. For that loveliness of the lounge I've been to so many United clubs where even at 5am when they open all the food is fully stocked and ready for you.

The refrigerated cases were stocked with drinks including two flavors of Naked Juices. There were also small take away containers of wraps, sandwiches, Cesar salad, hummus and couscous sides, etc. To the side were baskets of chips,l and cookies and also a coffee and tea station. This is the newest part of A Gates, not finished yet, the last time I used this concourse. As I was looking around for something lighter than Maria Empanada directly next to our gate I saw the location for The Bindery. I had never been to their main Denver location and though I didn't want to use their seating and dining portion, I did see many pastries and light items for takeout in the bright case. As I glanced around, staff was observant though seating and serving many other customers. This assured me they were well representative of their main location that friends had reviewed in the past. It was hard to choose from so many tasty looking items but I chose the Hibiscus Cruller, which was a beautiful shade of pink on the glaze. I enjoyed it a lot, the interior texture and flavor reminded me of fresh baked churro batter and the outside, a beautifully extruded ring. The hibiscus flavor of the glazes perfectly identifiable to someone like me who loved hibiscus flavored anything. It was crispy on the outside and soft and warm inside. When I got back to the gate, a middle aged man sitting near us was looking for something for his elderly mother whom he was accompanying on their flight east to Hartford also. He was looking for something lighter than the empanadas too, so I suggested The Bindery and he went off and found her a slice of breakfast cake. It's a great place for a quick item at that end of A Gates. It also has a dining section for customers wanting a fuller meal, even at that time of morning.

I originally wanted to try the roasted Brussels sprout and bacon salad, but unfortunately, they were out. I decided to go with the chopped salad instead and added grilled salmon. The salad came with tomato, cucumber, red onions, garbanzo beans, romaine, pepperoncini vinaigrette, and fried pepperoni. Even though it wasn't my first choice, it was still very fulfilling and packed with different flavors and textures. Adding the grilled salmon made it even more satisfying and turned it into a complete meal. I really enjoyed the pepperoncini vinaigrette, and the fried pepperoni was an interesting touch that made the salad stand out from your typical airport meal. I was disappointed that I couldn't try the Brussels sprout and bacon salad, but I was happy with what I ordered. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, and the location near the C Gates makes it especially convenient when traveling. Overall, Bar Dough was a nice surprise for airport dining. So after my husband ordered a $23 sandwich and a beer, I bought a burrito to go from the adjoined restaurant. When I came back over, the host stared at me but said nothing. I sat down and watched the host go talk to the server before the server came over and said they did not allow "outside food" due to being a health code violation. So I sat with my wrapped burrito while my husband ate lunch. After seeing staff from the adjoining restaurant go into the kitchen next to where we were sitting, I asked the server about it. He informed me that both restaurants had the same owner/management. So I asked why there was an issue with bringing my wrapped food over and he snarkily replied, "Are you kidding me?" And then said, "I don't make the rules; I just enforce them." He literally could not explain what the violation was and offered no one else (I.e. a manager) to help answer the question. On the food side, the Italian Hoagie was just okay so I would skip Bar Dough for a meal and go to the Mexican spot next door because the burrito was (eventually) delicious.
