After arriving at the Denver airport, I met up with family at the Grill & Vine establishment…read more After walking in, I observed a fair amount of seating and it had a bit of a classy but casual vibe. They had already placed my order (Wagyu Classic Burger) so when I arrived, within a minute after sitting down, they brought it out. The server stuck around until I had arrived before ending her shift - I was told she was an exceptional server! As for the food. The Wagyu burger was delicious - not 100% sure it justified the cost but the service made up for it. The salad was great as well! Thanks!

Farm-to-table prices. Airport convenience food. I understand…read morethat airport restaurants operate in somewhat of a captive market. Travelers have limited options, and restaurants can get away with charging premium prices for convenience. But seriously, does that mean quality should go right out the window? I was actually looking forward to eating here after reading about their emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and farm-to-table dining. That's exactly the kind of restaurant I seek out when traveling. And the restaurant itself is beautiful! It's upscale, inviting, and has an atmosphere that makes you think you're about to enjoy a really wonderful dining experience. Everything about the place, from the appearance to the prices, suggests quality. Which, quite frankly, makes what they're serving all the more disappointing. I ordered a chicken entrée for approximately $36, which consisted of one small chicken thigh, stewed tomatoes, peppers, and rice. Unfortunately, the rice was mushy, so I asked to substitute mashed potatoes. One bite and I knew they were instant mashed potatoes. I questioned it, and management confirmed that they were. Seriously? Instant mashed potatoes at a restaurant promoting farm-to-table dining? For $36? I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous. There's absolutely nothing wrong with simple food. In fact, some of the best meals I've ever had were made with just a handful of fresh, quality ingredients. But there's a big difference between simple, honest cooking and cutting corners with cheap, processed convenience foods. And what bothers me even more is that somewhere along the line, someone actually thought serving instant mashed potatoes was an acceptable choice for this restaurant. That makes me seriously question whether the people making these decisions understand what farm-to-table dining is supposed to represent. This isn't just about mashed potatoes. It's about the standards you're setting in your kitchen and whether those standards reflect the philosophy you're advertising. If I were running this restaurant, I'd be taking a hard look at who's making those decisions. Because if you're charging premium prices and promoting quality, locally sourced food, how in the world does someone decide that instant mashed potatoes belong on the plate? Now, I do want to give credit where it's due. Our server and management were wonderful. They were gracious, receptive to my feedback, and honest about the potatoes. They explained that they were only four days into launching a new menu and generously removed my meal and drink from the bill. I genuinely appreciated that gesture and their professionalism. But excellent customer service doesn't change the underlying issue. And while I appreciate having my meal comped, I wasn't looking for a free meal. I was looking for a good one. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because the people working there clearly care about their guests. Now the food needs to reflect that same level of care. Being located at an airport shouldn't give a restaurant a free pass to charge premium prices for mediocre food. And if you're going to promote a farm-to-table philosophy, it should be more than a marketing statement....it should actually show up on the plate.
