The store has a very unassuming exterior. I would have totally missed it if I had not been to the original Sid Mashburn in the Westside district of Atlanta. It is an upscale niche-ish menswear / lifestyle store. It mostly caters to those who read GQ religiously. Now that I think about it, I think the store has grown because of the constant exposure it gets in #menswear blogs and magazines. For the lack of better term, I'd say the style of the store is a trendier / less conservative version of Brooks Brothers with better attention to fit. The premise of the store is that you shouldn't expect clothes to fit perfectly off the rack and are meant to be altered. That's why they have an in-house tailor that can alter the items to fit you in exactly the way you want. As far as the prices go, it's not cheap. A good looking suit here costs about 4 grand. Shirts are 150+. They also do bespoke and made-to-measure orders with Kiton and other high-end companies. They mostly focus on their house label but they do carry an assortment of upscale brands that I haven't seen much in Houston yet. -Alden, Edward Green, Filson, Diptyque (well, this one not so much), Levi's I think the quality of the house-label, especially the shirts, is a little disappointing. Sure, the fabric may be a little better but it just doesn't warrant the over-the-top price tag. I feel like you can get decent suits made with Loro Piana or Cerruti for much less if you look in the right place. With that said, the service here is impeccable and that's reflected in the price. I'd recommend this place if you got that River Oak$ money and are looking to add a little flare to your office attire or to "outfashion" your co-workers perhaps.

Good service but Today i went in to pick it up after alterations and no one wanted to wait on me. Finally got served and tried on the suit and it fit great. They packaged it up and told me there is $3 charge for the suit bag. Maybe on a cheap item but on a $500 suit? What a joke.

I guess it was the final day of Black Friday sale. Salespeople we're tired. My reason being there was to try a pair of dress sneakers. Online store told me to come here. That brand Cole Hann offers lightweight shoes with Oxford style. But because there was no arch support and that was only pair that store offers, I chose to wait until they offer a half size bigger. So, I can insert extra cushion in there. I was hoping to try a pair of same brand and half size larger. My salesperson said "that would be too big for you." Ok, let me try a different pair but same brand. He said "we don't have it." That's so discouraging. Then, I started to browse around because I remembered seeing sweater and dress shirts on sale for $24.99. The salesman followed me to the sweater table. But he didn't seem helpful. I became disinterested and I walked out.

A long-time Houston family planted in Houston and have been in business for prob over forty years or so! Father and son business and I came to them to have some jewel appliqué embellished jeans hemmed because I'm a petite 5'1 girly and it's hard to find jeans that fit! I called them on Easter weekend and they were about to close shop early for the holiday weekend but I caught them right before closing and they agreed to stay open just long enough for me to get there and drop off the jeans. I arrived and Mr. Imparali (their dad) stayed after just to measure my hem and then the tune around time was quick! Just a few days later we picked up the jeans and they even expedited it for us. Excellent customer service, above and beyond, and precise, dependable work on the hem! I'd highly recommend them and use them in the future! Just the sweetest family honestly!

Balani, Tom James, J Hilburn, King Brothers -- I would rank Q dead last. Pavement provides a valuable compromise between thrift and retail stores. For a markup price, but still no where near what you'd pay at a retail store, Pavement filters a lot of the boring thrift items out. That way, you're more likely to find something you like without having to look too hard. Some of the finds here are quite impressive. I've bought a couple of graphic tees over the years, never paying more than $15 each despite them looking new. One of them has even landed in my rotation about once a week. Pavement's role as a trendy semi-thrift store works well for its location; I often find myself popping in for only 20-30 minutes, either right before or after grabbing a bite with friends, because that's all the time I need to browse the already-curated merchandise. In short, this is a great place to upgrade your wardrobe without breaking the bank or combing through hundreds of pieces at a time. The chances of walking out with something in hand is still hit or miss, similarly to any conventional thrift store, but I like my odds way better when I walk in here.

Since I have poor fashion sense, Taylor and Jared have dressed me well in crisp threads that fit very well in a casual way. No sloppiness here. Without looking like you tried too hard. Store does not charge for tailoring stock items. A certain lumber-sexual vibe rests among the clothing choices, but that will change as quick as beard oil goes out of style ... like tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy the free whiskey and the camaraderie offered by conscientious sales people that really do care. You will not walk out of Rye 51 without a spring in your step. The real value, though, was her ability to implicitly understand what style I like. She was never pushy and never tried to upsell but she was also direct about things that she thought would be a bad choice or a good choice. It's a difficult line to walk but an important skill when helping somebody make a significant purchase. I can be very indecisive and her advice helped put me at ease over the course of multiple fittings and visits. The final result was a 3-piece suit that fits, looks, and feels great.
