I purchased a grand piano from this company. The purported owner, Phil Costa, delivered the piano in damaged condition, rendering it unplayable. To worsen matters, his delivery man knocked a hole in my living room wall with the piano. Phil Costa has consistently refused to repair the piano. He simply told me it had to be "broken in." After over 6 months the piano remained unplayable. I successfully sued Phil Costa and his company. My advice is NOT to purchase a piano from this man. Be smart. Go to a well-known piano dealer. I contacted Phil to come take my piano to be sold at his store in 2015. We agreed on a price of $1800-2100, which was much less than it was worth, but I was moving and couldn't take it with me. It is now 2019, 4 years later. I have emailed Phil 5 times to inquire about the sale of the piano and to update him on my change of address. Of those 5 emails, he only responded twice. In 4 years, there has been no mention of the sale of my piano and virtually no communication. I'm pretty sure I've been swindled and I'm considering going to small claims court. read more

Phil has gone above and beyond. When I first walked into the store, my only reason was to figure out if I wanted a keyboard or a piano. Unique had numerous examples of both, in all price ranges. I figured out I wanted a piano. Phil's knowledge and passion for all things piano is obvious. He walked us through many of the pianos in the store, explaining histories of brands, where they were made, pointing out benefits and potential drawbacks, all while giving the time and space for me to explore anything I wanted on my own. Talk about no pressure! I spend two hours, and chose a piano. It was delivered the next day. After playing it the first day, I realized it wasn't what I wanted, and that I wanted to upgrade. Back to the store I went the following weekend! Phil graciously left me alone to play any and all pianos I wanted for two more hours. When I had narrowed down my choices, Phil again showed his vast knowledge and discussed each piano, which helped me immensely. I chose my new piano. Once again, Phil went above and beyond, and I had my new, beautiful piano the next day! He has made piano buying a pleasure. I am very glad I walked into his store! Philip Costa and his business partner Esteban Diaz are professional scam artist and that's been our experience. Phil came to our home, removed our piano on consignment stated he would have it sold quickly or we could have it back in four months. My wife went by last Friday to the store looks closed and no one will return our phone calls. Do not enter into any agreements or give them your piano you will never see it again or any money. I hope the Attorney General looks into Phil Costa and his business partner Esteban Diaz they are very bad people who are deceiving the elderly out of their possessions and money. This is a matter for law-enforcement, the attorney general in order to protect the elderly. I have been looking for about 3+ years for a black baby grand piano. My wonderful piano teacher, Michelle Chater, found an add from Unique Pianos. I called and from the very beginning Phil gave me the red carpet experience. Met with me via face time to show me some pianos and took the time to walk me through the paperwork and the different finance options. We were on a hunt for a Yamaha G1 and after searching high and low, we came across one at unique pianos consignment through an ad. In reviewing the ratings on yelp, I initially decided it wasn't worth the risk but my husband convinced me to talk a look anyway. So we drove to the store, met Phil and saw the G1. It was in beautiful shape. Husband and I were finalizing our thoughts when I made a comment on how beautiful the white grand was on the other aisle. Phil walked us over and it was a pristine condition Yamaha G2 but was outside our price range. Phil made us an offer on the piano that we could not reject and we made the decision to buy. Not once were we pressured into buying either piano. Phil had excellent financing options especially for Yamahas which made the decision even easier. To top it off, he even offered us a decent trade in for our digital upright Yamaha piano, when many of the other stores would not accept a trade in for a digital. The piano was delivered the next day with zero damages. As expected, we received a call for a free tuning after 2 weeks and our piano is now tuned and sounds beautiful. At the end of the day, we are proud owners of a rare white Yamaha G2 and I'm so glad I listened to my husband to check out Unique Pianos Consignment. Thank you Phil. read more

(no stars ) This place is a ripoff I consigned my piano with them in 2015. I never heard back from Phil about the status for the sale .I contacted Phll several times. Hge said that the piano had not sold yet. In March of 2019 I contacted him about the piano he said he could not find my consignment files , so I texted him my copy. Phil said he still has the piano but he would buy it from me . Never received check. Called Phil again . Phil said he would check on it and call me right back .Never called back. I asked Phil for a picture of the piano and a picture of the serial # for proof that he still has my piano. Never heard back .My assumption is Phil sold my piano but never paid me for it . This is Petty Theft. I will be fallowing up with a small claims law suit. read more

Reading these other reviews, it's hard to believe we're talking about the same company! Also, I don't understand why John E. only gave 3 stars, as it sounds like he had a good experience. Anyway, my dad and I stopped in the store a few weeks ago to pick out a piano for him. He's 87 and has lost a lot of strength in his hands, so he had to "test drive" quite a few to find one that would work for his soft touch. We were there for about an hour, and during that time Phil never rushed us, or pressured us to pick one. Once Dad settled on a piano we negotiated the price, and then Dad said he wanted to think about it. We got home and he changed his mind, so we never completed the sale. Then, 3 days ago, Dad had another change of heart and we stopped back in. This time, we took about 45 minutes, during which Phil was patient and never made us feel bad about taking up so much of his time, especially not knowing if it would result in a sale or not. As it happened, Dad ended up purchasing a piano. It was delivered the next day, all shined and ready to play. He even included a higher bench from an organ that fit Dad better, for no extra charge. We NEVER felt pressured or rushed... a totally relaxed and pleasant experience. By the way, the delivery guys were polite and very careful with the piano and with furniture around it. It might be different because we were buyers rather than consignors, but all in all, I would recommend this store to someone wanting to purchase a piano... read more

I needed some cash and decided to consign my piano. I signed a long form where I wrote in the minimum $ that I was willing to take. The form also stated that the sale price was not my concern. I get it. So what if Unique Pianos makes a lot or a little above my price? Phil and his helper picked up the piano and took it to the showroom. A few months later, my fortunes changed, and I asked if I could have the piano back. Phil scheduled a delivery date and promptly brought back my piano. We put a piano on consignment at this store in July 2015. In October I left various voice mail messages asking for an update and never received a call back. I also left messages on their web site asking them to call back. We finally went into the store and were told that they did not get any messages and that the Piano had been sold to one of their students the week before and we could expect a check the next week. That was a month and a half ago. Based on other reports it seems that this store business practices are questionable bordering on fraud. I was referred to Unique Pianos by a professional musician and ended up being helped by Phil at the store. He was very non-pressure, educational, and overall easy to deal with. I found a piano that was far below the price I expected to pay for such an instrument. Phil includes the setup and a free tuning schedule which cemented the deal. I am in the market for a digital piano, and went here today expecting to do some research and see my options, but not purchase a piano just yet. I made this clear to him. The salesman was very pushy and wanted me to put down a credit card today or make a small down payment in cash or check. He also boasted that the digital piano (a Kawai CA849) was made in 2005 and that it was worth about $2,000. After Googling the piano and calling another valley piano store, I found out that not only is this piano model much older than I was told, but newer Kawai models can be purchased with a 5 year warranty for about $1,400. I wouldn't go to this store again. They did have some nice looking consigned pianos there, however. So, if you do choose to go here, do your research first and be ready to haggle. read more

Thank goodness for Unique Pianos. I had a piano I needed to sell and didn't want to sell it on craigs list because who knows who will be coming to my home. Too scary and too many scammers. I called Unique Pianos and they came and picked up my piano the next day and sold it just a few days later. Talk about fast. They were extremely helpful and courteous. After consigning my baby grand piano and moving to a smaller apartment, I began to miss playing the piano, so I went in to the store and picked out an upright. I found a wonderful piano that sounds great and has a 5 year warranty. No other store I checked offered what this store did. I love my new piano. I would highly recommend this store. read more

I want to like this place, I really do, but I just can't give it any better of a review. I felt pressured to buy a piano from them when we were browsing, and I felt that I overpaid for my piano. But I knew that I had fallen for the tricks, so I wasn't going to fault them on that. My piano didn't have a bench with it in the store, but I was told they would find a bench for me. They did bring me a bench. It was broken and had a dirty band-aid in it. I called and they said someone would come out and fix it, but it's been months and I haven't heard from them. Also my piano is missing a wheel. I don't know if this was always an issue or if it happened during transportation, but I noticed it about a week after it was delivered. I was also told someone would fix that and it has never happened. I have called them dozens of times, and only occasionally do they call back. I regret buying my piano from them. read more

NO STARS - BEWARE. We purchased a grand piano in April 2014, and it was delivered to our home with a duet bench valued at approximately $1000.00. After delivery Phil called us and told us that the bench was delivered in error, although it was the bench that was with the piano when we purchased it. According to contract, a full grand piano bench was included and he was to install the name BALDWIN on the front of our piano. In addition, Phil promised it would be tuned for a period of 5 years. Phil didn't follow through according to contract with the lettering, bench or tuning of the piano, and recently contacted us demanding that the bench they delivered 20 MONTHS ago be returned. He brought a poor quality piano bench to exchange that can be purchased online for $95, telling us that it was a standard BALDWIN bench valued at $279. He also told us that the bench delivered with the piano was an antique from 1928, although on the bottom it specified that it was made in 1998, which was close to the time our piano was made. The lettering he installed for BALDWIN did NOT match the original raised gold lettering on our piano, and he took the portion of our piano with him supposedly to correct the damage. He told us that the bench that was originally delivered to us 20 MONTHS ago belonged to another customer of his, and that he never realized till recently that he hadn't exchanged the bench. He was evasive when questioned about why he would send a bench belonging to someone else to our home, and claimed that the replacement bench was lost in his warehouse. He and his helper rushed out the door with part of our piano while we were still talking to him and my children were crying about losing their bench. His customer service is lousy, his followup is horrific, his ability to tell the truth is questionable, and we feel extremely shortchanged. read more
