They always do a good job. I've gotten lucky with a walk in twice but call ahead to make sure they can accommodate especially on a Friday afternoon. This is definitely no frills compared to some of the other nail salons in Hoboken but my gel manicures always last at least two weeks in good condition when I get it from here. And the color I choose was definitely thinned out cause it was so translucent when it was applied. I was told I have to wait (no problem because I was early) but then watched them take someone who didn't have an appointment at 5:05pm because it would "be quick". The man in there was rude and condescending. They continued to make me wait until I got up and left at 5:20pm and they didn't even say goodbye. Don't come here. So rude and unprofessional. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I had the worst experience here. Diana and Sarita came highly recommended by a good friend. My regular nail girl is on maternity leave and I needed a gel pedicure. I booked an appointment with Diana, but needed to change the appointment for two days earlier and Diana was not in that day so I rescheduled with Sarita. When I arrived, Sarita was doing someone else's pedicure. She told me to sit in a pedicure chair and "soak" off my gel. I explained to her I had gel nail polish and my big toes had acrylic overlay. Another girl came over and started to use the electric drill to remove my gel. Then another girl came over and took over removing the gel polish with the electric drill. There was never any soaking off. She advised they do not use acrylic but would use gel to fill in my big toes. When she was done the other girl returned to finish my pedicure. I was already annoyed because I pre-booked an appointment with Sarita. When the girl started to paint my toes, I told her I did not like the shape of my big toes. They filed down the sides into a coffin shape. Sarita then came over and asked me what was the problem and I repeated myself telling her I did not like the shape of my big toes. Then I asked her wasn't she the one I booked with and she brushed me off saying oh yea, but I was finishing someone else's toes. What does that have to do with me? I had an appointment. Either she should have communicated with me that she was almost done or she shouldn't have taken that appointment to begin with knowing she has an appointment coming up. Then she told me to relax. Then she went to talk to the girl that did the gel fill in on my big toes and after speaking in spanish, she came over and told me the girl said that was the shape of my toes. I have never been so insulted. I pulled a picture out of my feet and showed her that was not what my toes looked like when I arrived. Sarita then started to remove the polish from my toes and started filing again. An hour and half already in, she tells me she does not do nail shaping and I would have to wait for the other girl to finish the nail set she started before she could come over and fix my big toes. So I told her they already wasted an hour and half and asked her if she was going to pay me an hour of my time. She got up, got loud and asked me how much I wanted saying "I have money and can pay you, how much $200?" I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I actually started to cry. I asked her how long I would have to wait and she said another hour. At this point, I had had it. I picked up my stuff and left. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. What happen to the customer is always right? I had an appointment and am I not allowed to speak up if I'm a paying customer and I don't like something? I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RUDE ESTABLISHMENT. There are at least 20 nail salons in Hoboken. Pick another salon and save yourself the trouble. Just to follow up, I called back the next day in hopes of going back to Diana and having her correct the issues, but after taking my appointment by phone, she called me back a hour later to tell me she doesn't do what I am asking for which is simply adding more gel to the sides of my big toes where her co-workers filed down my natural nail and finishing my gel pedicure. HORRIBLE experience. I had a confirmed appointment and arrived on time. I was sat down in the pedicure chair and the owner came over and also started to do my nails at the same time. I asked if they usually do this (as it's obviously very uncomfortable to sit upright and hold my arms out to have my nails done at the same time as my feet) - to which she replied with "it's late sorry" (6:30 apt. they close at 8pm) I figured she would stop after the filing and cutting. But nope! She brought the gel heaters over and did my gel too. Mind you - this means my toes and hands are being done at the same time, and my toes wont dry in time. After they finished my mani/pedi, i attempted to sit there for a little to allow my toes to dry, but they turned the TV off on me! I got up and went over to the male owner and asked why I was being pushed out? They said they wanted me to come at 6 and they have somewhere else to be!!!!!!!! I told them I had a confirmed 6:30 apt and now I had to walk home in flip flops in 30 degree weather bc they clearly wanted to take my money yet not provide good service. Got another gel today (diff technician) and it's terrible. I can see it will peel off and looks awful. By far one of the most expensive places in town with their price increases. Service is always very nice and even if there is a wait, it is never very long. $25 for a pedicure is ok, not the cheapest, but not too expensive either, and the manicurist are always nice. Finding a nail salon in Hoboken with free parking = priceless. Also, Dunkin' Donuts next store is a great place to get an ice coffee to sip during a pedicure. read more

I've been going here over the years and it's always been a great experience. Very friendly staff and consistently do great manicure/pedicures. Since COVID I went this past weekend and was very impressed with the measures they took to ensure everyone's safety. Plexi glass dividers between tech and customer, only working tech's on the floor, the rest stay in the back, sanitizer everywhere, surfaces and chairs cleaned with each client and clients spaced out. I needed a manicure badly and while I was hesitant to go here because it didn't have at least 4 stars, I gave it a shot because it's right by my apartment. And to be fair, whenever I walk by the salon, it's usually packed. I got a regular manicure for $12 and used a clear pink polish. The lady really rushed through putting the top coat on and missed a spot on my right thumb so I asked her to redo it. It's hard to mess up using a clear color, so I can't tell you how good the service really is. But I have to say she did a good job trimming my nails and shaping that evenly. read more

This is my go-to nail salon. I've tried most places in Hoboken, but always go back to this one. They are very clean, thorough, take their time, do not chit-chat a lot, and extremely courteous. You feel very appreciated and are given the full service treatment you'd normally get at a pricey salon at much lower prices. The pedicures are awesome (massages can last a while). You can have added features put onto your normal mani/pedi requests. The normal wait time for a walk-in is 5-10 even at a busy time. They will still accept you even if you walk in 30 minutes before closing. GO! read more

I walked in a few minutes past 7:30, asking for a pedicure. Instead of a "hello" or "how are you?" they looked at me like I had three heads, and an old, fat lady customer looked at her watch as to agree with the large group of frustrated employees, who were already clearly busy staring at different areas of the salon. They talked among themselves to figure out who had the misfortune of performing my pedicure. The woman, while "nice," rushed so much that she splashed water all over the place, ran everywhere she needed to go, and spilled some nail polish on my foot. She seemed to be under the constant glare of the angry older lady walking back and forth and listening to music on her phone. Everyone left about 20-25 minutes early, except the one who was doing my pedicure and the other angry lady. I knew they could get my pedicure done in time because most places rush my pedicures. And of course, including drying, my pedicure finished right on time, at closing time, which is half an hour late to them. When I left, I let them know that they should change their hours if they don't want customers coming in past their non-advertised closing time of 7:20-7:30. I'm a little baffled as to why this place is rated so highly on Yelp...I stopped in for a regular pedicure last Saturday when my go-to nail salon (Spa Aura) was booked. After reading several positive reviews on Yelp, and considering Unique Nail II is within a 5 minute walk from my apartment, I figured it was worth a shot. Unfortunately, the experience fell very short of my expectations. Granted, I wasn't expecting a spa-like experience - but I didn't find the pedicure particularly relaxing or exceptional. The place was understandably busy on a Saturday, but the interior is so small that it felt overcrowded at times, and something about it felt dingy and not clean. They don't seem to use a new set of tools for each client, which is also a red flag for me. Several previous reviewers had raved about the quality of the leg massages, but I did not notice anything particularly special in that area. In addition, the pedicurist was overly focused on trimming my cuticles to the point at which she DREW BLOOD on two toes - leading to my hypochondriac fear that I was going to develop some sort of bacterial infection. It was also kind of painful which lasted for two days afterward. Finally, the cost of a regular pedicure is $25 - $5 more than what Spa Aura charges for their regular pedicure, which is ten times more enjoyable, not to mention cleaner and less injurious. Go to Spa Aura and save yourself some money and frustration. read more

Unique Nail II charges $35 for a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure includes leg exfoliation and a little bit of calf massage, too. The salon was clean, the technicians were nice, and they had a lot of polish colors to choose from. Overall, this is a great deal. My manicure did begin to chip within 24 hours, without me doing anything particularly rough with my hands. I think this happens because the polish is applied so thickly that it can easily break off in one big layer. My toes still look great several days out. While Unique Nail II accepts credit cards, they request that you tip in cash, so be sure to bring some money for tip. Pedicurist was rude, consistently and aggressively yanked at my ankles and toes to position them and didn't do a very good job to boot! The worst part? $25 for a BASIC pedicure. I visited this establishment because of its proximity to my home but I'll be certain to walk the extra 10 minutes to a better salon next time. Lesson learned. read more

Simply amazing! I am constantly surprised about how long my regular manicure lasts. I've been to several nail salons but they usually chip within 2-3 days. For some reason, when I get my nails done here, they last for 4-5 days. I even had a couple of instances where my nail polish lasted for 6 days without chipping. Really cool! read more

This is my go to nail spot, for right now. I always ask for Sisi (not sure how she spells it) for my gel manicure. And I call at least an hour or so in advance to schedule an "appointment". Doing this I've never had to wait. Not once. I like simple designs and french tip variations and she's always patient with me in picking the right color and will copy the design right from the photos on my phone. And they only charge $10 extra... even when I get designs on all 10 nails. Price wise they are pretty in line with the cost in the area, which tends to be higher. (I paid $65 for a gel with no design and regular pedicure.) If you are paying less than $20 for a pedicure or $15 for a mani, you may need to revisit how well the staff are being treated... Just because the ladies are scrubbing your feet doesn't mean they don't deserve to be paid fairly, really. I did get a manicure from one of the other technicians and while she was very sweet, and did a great job shaping my nails, she went in a little too hard on the cuticles, to the point where she cut or bruised me numerous times. In her defense, I normally ask that my cuticles not be cut at all as my fingers tend to peel when too much cuticle is removed and this time I didn't... Otherwise, the manicure was spectacular, though not as good as Sisi. Their pedicures are okay, nothing fancy, but they get the job done. I really only get them so my feet don't look nasty during the summer... I gave four instead of five stars for the cuticle situation and because the pedicures are really nothing to write home about. read more

I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes as a walk-in - and that was on a weeknight after work, around 6:15pm. Polish changes are only $7 and I think (not sure though) mani-pedis are $30. I have been going here for years. Mostly because I like their pedicure chairs and the women scrub the heck out of and massage my feet well. Today, was by far the WORST experience I've ever had. The lady assigned to me to do my Spa pedicure was horrible! I happen to be 7 months pregnant and my feet are swollen and hurt. A child could have done a better job than her. First of all, the water in the foot bath was scorching hot. I burned my left foot upon putting it down. The lady seemed to turn cold water on, then said "it's ok now". Nope! Still boiling. I screamed my foot hurt so bad. So now my swollen hurting pregnant feet were now burned. She kept touch the burnt part and I had to tell he not to. She didn't seem to understand English so the pedicure guy next to us had to translate. Then came the 'scrubbing part' this woman was basically petting my foot with the grater that she should have used to get rid of the dead skin. It was like a wet noodle touching my foot. She had no strength and it was awful. I then told her to forget the spa pedicure and just do a regular pedicure and that I was not paying 50 bucks for THIS. It was the worst regular pedicure I've ever had. Felt like a polish change. I left there after paying 25 bucks with a burnt foot and still swollen hurt un-massaged feet. There are girls that work there that should only do manicures and girls that should only do pedicures. They should never swap them. I asked for the manager when I left. They said she wasn't there. I'm tough when it comes to nail salons bc I don't understand how so many places can have workers who give you attitude when they're the ones scrubbing your feet. It's as if there aren't another 17 nail salons within 1.5 miles, especially in Hoboken- come on now. I walked in and asked for a lip wax they had me sit in the wax room for 10 minutes before telling me 'oh we can't provide you services for another 15 minutes our wax lady isn't in today" okay...... someone else will gladly take my 10$ thank you such as European Wax (fantastic). New to HOBO decided to try this place close to home and ive never been anywhere else! BEST pedicure and they do a good job with tip set/fill ins. Can be pricey and they can be rough - file my cuticles but i let them know if it hurts! i get the UV gel tips and they BURNNN but they help by alternating and will squeeze your finger to make it feel better. pedicure and white fill in/full tip set w/ tip runs over $100, regular pink fill in and pedicure is around $65. i prefer the men for both pedi and nails, the women are rough! i always call ahead and never wait. they let you tip on CC, seems cheaper than other places in town. read more

I've been here a few times and it's just mediocre. However, I think it really depends on who you get. Today I walked in at the same time as another woman and while I sat and got a very average pedicure (barely any massage at all on the calves and feet), I was quite envious of the lengthy massage and meticulous attention she got. She even had her feet "scraped" and I didn't but we both asked for "basic pedicure". How is that fair? I've also noticed that if you're Asian, they would assign you a non-Asian person.
