Wendy peeled off too much of my skin on my right hand.
Alyssa L.

This evening I scheduled a last minute Gel Mani + Gel Pedi appointment. I've been to all of their locations in Jersey City and have not been disappointed, until today. When I was told to head over to the pedicure room I noticed that a lot of pedicure bowls were left undrained & the works stations had leftover soda cans & wrappers still out. I asked to upgrade my service to a Spa Pedicure but it was mistaken for a signature spa pedicure. The woman, Wendy, who completed my service, cut my skin 5 times and did not apologize or address it once. She would file my nail so harsh against my skin & the tools she used made the wounds worse. I will always pay for a service I request and that's exactly what I did, I paid $115 for my service and I still tipped but I'm extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

Horrible job

I can say, never ever will I return to this location I ONLY give an extra star due to the "efforts". I went in one night and Kim rushed to do my gel manicure. I let the receptionist know how much I hated the look as well as show her my nail, which she agreed and said to come back the next day (hence my extra star) and they can be re painted as well as 20% off next service.... I went in they were repainted but then to have FOUR nails crack 2 days later! I was traveling and wasn't able to go back but ugh, what a disappointment! I went here to try and I guess that's what I get for trying to try something new. Maybe it's their polish, idk. Picture posted was the work Kim did

So glad Cuteicles has come to Bayonne! I used to be a member at the heights location but parking was terrible so I stopped going. Bayonne has ample street parking! Nice location. Clean. Brand new. Reasonable prices ($15 for a mani and $30 for pedi!). Melisa did a nice job on my mani and pedi, taking her time. I upgraded for the 10minute extra foot rub and it was worth it. They have lots of colors to choose from for both regular and gel. I will be back!

Nails from my third visit, my most complimented nails so far

Considering the area, this is probably one of the better salons in the area. Growing up a city girl with multiple nail salon options and coming to Bayonne, there are nail salons here but not all meet the mark. In my opinion, this one happens to. The appearance and ambiance is welcoming for a client. I usually book appointments when they first open -- I don't like to be in the salon when it is busy so I couldn't tell you what it is like on a Saturday morning. The receptionist always greets me and lets me know when I can wash my hands and sit at my nail tech's seat. Upon my first visit, I booked with Gendary. Her work on Instagram looks great. For the most part, she does a good job especially if you are requesting a clean and basic look. I like to try creative but minimalistic nail designs and I can be extra picky with my nails. If I'm paying upwards of $100+ for my nails, I do expect anything close to perfection. I wanted to try a specific look (Instagram pic attached) and I showed her. Overall, she did a decent job but I didn't get exactly what I asked for. I didn't favor my nail shape and instead of an aurora/glow nail design, I received a watercolor design with paint left on my cuticles. (She didn't know she was supposed to clean my cuticles of the airbrush polish after each use but she tried to take what she could off with the polish remover). I had to scrap the polish off of my cuticles myself. I wasn't mad. As a creative, I can appreciate a good impromptu design when the original doesn't go as planned. I just wish I walked out with what I originally requested. Learning from my first visit, I decided to go to Ben (who advised her to clean my cuticles with remover after each airbrush use in my first visit). I've been to him twice and after he nailed the aurora design for me, I'll continue to go to him when I'm in the area. My last set of nails were my most complimented. And Ben seems to be willing to do any creative design I request so I'm looking forward to seeing what we can create together. I deducted a half-star because on my first visit, I walked out with results other than what I requested. I also deducted another half-star because it can get expensive. I can agree with others who are feeling overcharged. I'm not sure if it's the inflation or a good upselling trick but I do feel overcharged when it comes to the nail length. I don't go into my appointment with the intent to have medium-long nails but somehow, I've gotten them. Anyways, the salon seems to have a good amount of good nail artists to choose from.

Why are they angled straight up with no curve or apex?
CASSIE L.

Every time I've gone here I've left with something wrong and have been overcharged which is absurd considering their prices keep rising well above other places in the same area. This weekend was my last straw. I had an appointment on Friday and was waiting ten minutes before my phone rang. It was the desk calling to see if I was coming for my appointment. If she'd spoken to me instead of making a call mid conversation with a different client she'd see I was right there. Then after washing my hands and getting ready I'm told actually the tech wasn't coming in because there was an accident on the highway. Isn't that something you'd check on before it was 15 min past the appointment time? They sent me home and asked me to come back the next day with a discount. I came back today and the same tech was 20 minutes late. After explaining what I wanted she asked me if I wanted my almond shape pointy or round. Girl it's almond that's the shape? Then she asked if I wanted them thick or thin, as she was already in the middle of the acrylic. I'd already mentally checked out because after showing the exact length I wanted she cut them shorter two more times to try and match the other hand. I ended up with a short set, and they still didn't match. I was charged $65 for this wonky set plus $25 extra for "design" aka 90 seconds or poorly applied chrome powder, and EXTRA LENGTH. You'll see a lot of review mention they charge everyone for length regardless and looking at how short these are there's absolutely no excuse for tacking that on. MAYBE if they'd been the length I actually asked for which is possibly considered medium, but a $15 charge for this nonsense is absurd. When you ask to fix something you get blank stares. Like she asked me several times if I like the shape. It's fine but there's nothing to do now to make it what I asked for, I'd just like this extremely short middle finger to be fixed. Blank stare. I've given every location multiple chances and still have not had one satisfying experience. They need to seriously consider the skill set it the people they hire and enact some more professional business practices if they're going to charge 25% more than every other salon around. Some people don't care but personally I don't enjoy salons allowing children to watch iPads at full volume without headphones and today I was gifted with two of them at once.

Cuteticles is my go to especially since I can book online and see the availability. I chose Freisy being that her designs are frequently posted on Instagram and I wanted to check out a different technician. My booking was set for 6pm. I arrived and both the receptionist and Freisy were at the reception table. I greet them first and say I have an appointment with Freisy. They look at each other and she asks another nail tech in Spanish to take me instead. The receptionist asks if I can go to someone else. I say okay. I asked if I can add a pedicure to the service since they're not honoring my original appointment and the receptionist responds by saying yes. I go to my usual girl Marissa. She finishes my gel manicure. I am satisfied. I approach the front desk to ask the receptionist who am I going to for a pedicure. She asks me how am I paying. I respond by saying I asked when I came in if I could add a pedicure to my service and you said yes. At this point she stops making eye contact and starts whispering. Oh no I'm sorry she says. I ask, are you checking to see who is available. She was whispers no we can't. I have to ask her to repeat herself multiple times because her volume decreases to a level 2. She takes my payment and hands me a 10% coupon for my future pedicure. Of course I have to ask her to repeat herself again because she is staring at the desk and is continuing to whisper. The customer service was poor. Usually when I go to Cuteticles I am greeted by the receptionist, my services are confirmed and I am shown to my technician. Today was the opposite of anything I've ever experienced at Cuteticles Bayonne, West Side or the Loft. Receptionist are a customers introduction to an establishment and should be welcoming , communicate effectively, be aware of scheduling and be able to own their mistakes.

Creative nail techs & consistently amazing. Beautiful, clean and maintained! Love my nail tech. She always does an amazing job. Thank you Gendary! (She took that amazing shot of my summer nails! Go check her out)

Job well done by Freisy. First time customer, will be a lasting customer if service continues to be consistent.

Very clean salon, customer service good. Will be telling my friends so they can tell their friends.

I decided to check out this location thanks to all my fellow reviewers. Ana was my specialist and…read moreshe's absolutely amazing. She made sure I was extremely comfortable for my first wax; which I didn't think could be possible. Very informative and she took her time but managed to be very fast . I enjoyed my experience so much that I also have my next appointment coming up in about 2 weeks. Now audience, I'd be lying if I said it was pain free, but! It's not unbearable - I swear! Rest assured Ana made sure to tell me if you keep it up it'll hurt less and there will be less hair to worry about This location is social distancing so you can check in from the app or calling the stores number. You also have the choice of waiting outside or in your car. Happy Waxing!

Oh No !! I had come here for other appointments in previous year and this time I had to write this…read morereview , since this was quite a trivial issue. I had booked for a full legs waxing and the waxer seemed very amateur in doing it. She couldn't remove any hair much at all!! And she took one hour. I was super disappointed and did let the front desk know. And front desk girl booked a complimentary waxing appointment. Thankfully , the next day it was a piece of cake for the waxer in finishing on time. Hence I had to remove 2 stars for the waxer (actual appointment) who didn't knew how to remove hair.

This review has to do with the customer service- I never got a chance to make it to my appointment…read morebecause it was cancelled 45minutes before. I should have had a feeling to book elsewhere based on the fact that the number I initially texted with my question (as the website suggests) did not answer my question and I had to follow up. My appointment was cancelled day of and no offer of rebooking in the future for the service I wanted. I have included the texts and did not include the number out of privacy. I wanted to give this local spot a try (instead of going to bigger chains) but I am sticking to European Waxed Center for my hard wax Brazilian needs (I got an appointment with in 20minutes of calling and it was great).

Mackenzie (?) was covering for the owner of the facility and she gave me a very pleasant experience! Even though I have gotten waxed before, she was very gentle and very pleasant to talk to, which sometimes I'm embarrassed to do, but she did not make it awkward at all! It's a small, but clean space. She did not skimp out on the whole experience and made sure I was well groomed down there before my vacation! I definitely recommended coming to this place and may be my go-to for future waxes! Booked The Bar Beauty Lounge for my birthday look and I had a great experience. Their booking was…read moresmooth and quick. I booked through DM but I'd suggest to call. I changed my appt time and they were accommodating since it was in advance. Unfortunately I was running 45 minutes late to my evening appointment and I gave a call to let them know. They were upset but they remained professional and charged a late fee for hair and makeup services, which is totally valid. Kathleen started on my hair first and was done very quick in like 15 minutes. It was a simple braid hairstyle and curling. I appreciate that she gave me advice on the way the braids should go so it looks best with my face shape and hide the breakage I have. Inna started on my makeup once I was done with hair. She was nice enough to remove my makeup for me because I was running so behind but you would usually come in with a bare face. She was the sweetest and definitely knew what she was doing! She moisturized my face and even my lips (I have eczema). Her instructions were clear and it did not even take that long. I got there at 4:45 and left at 6:30. The only downside is I would say the prices are kind of steep. The hairstyle was $60 without the tip. I could understand the makeup being $150 for full glam but I do not understand charging separate for lashes that were used. How else would you do a full glam? Overall I appreciate the staff at The Bar Beauty Lounge and loved my birthday look! I received lots of compliments and would recommend them if anyone wants to splurge to look fabulous.
