Writing this for my friend who doesn't know Yelp but wanted her experience aired. She went to UniQ for what was to be a simple $350 procedure to improve her marionette lines. I don't know the technical terms but once seated was told after a lengthily wait that the desired material she preferred to use was not available. After another 30 min wait it now being well over an hour in total was presented with a promise that what they had to inject her with would produce the same desired results. She was frustrated but reluctantly agreed. In retrospect she said she should have walked out. So, we have bait and switch with a helping of coercion to get more work done than intended by a horrible technician to the tune of badabing $1700! The person who performed the procedure actually physically hurt her and she was swollen and in pain for weeks. To that I was a witness. She said she understands a little swelling and discomfort is to be expected but this was extreme and she considered the procedure botched. And she was also told she would need to come back a few more times for additional work. While waiting to heal and upon thinking about her poor experience she exercised her right to cancel her credit card payment. She then received a summons to go to small claims court. Of course, she went and read her statement. The clerk magistrate seemed sympathetic. The representative for UniQ was abrasive, crude, rude and called her a crook. Unfortunately, the magistrate ruled in UniQ's favor as technically she had consented, but who is the real crook? UniQ of course! Let this be a warning to anyone considering going to UniQ. read more

I've gotten laser at UniQ Laser Center and a competing laser center in the area, and UniQ is definitely superior! Not only are the prices better and they do really great seasonal sales, but the girls working seem to take their time and really make sure they're getting everything possible. I had the same technician for all but one of my sessions and she was great (the other place I went it was a different technician everytime.) I highly recommend UniQ! I will say at the consultation, they do really push you to buy more than what you went in looking to buy so don't give into the sales push. read more

After having 8 sessions with them for facial hair laser hair removal, the hair not only grew back thicker, but in areas where I never had coarse facial hair before. If you are a woman struggling with PCOS or hirsutism, I STRONGLY URGE YOU to reconsider your choice to get the treatment done here. I also received treatment on my upper lip and it did not go away whatsoever. Nice staff but very little to no experience with brown skin and they do not want to admit that. I would be really careful and expect hyperpigmentation even when told you won't get it. Also found out that when you consistently get hyperpigmentation from a procedure it can actually become permanent which I also wasn't told. I think they honestly just didn't know because of lack of experience. If you're brown or black (even lighter skin but have gotten hyperpigmentation in the past) for your skin's sake go to a spa in the city since they usually have more experience with diverse populations. I've had great experiences with the spas on Newbury st, I just wanted to try something closer to home. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Natalie is a big sham. She is very persuasive and good at pushing people to buy packages. But, man! The quality of their work is awful!! I gave them a try because they are close to my apartment. I have been seeing them for almost a year for facial hair removal. I ended up with way more hair on my face and a big white patch on my chick. I had much less hair than this a year ago. I did laser for facial hair in another place about 10 years ago, and never had any of these issues. The hair was gone after 6 sessions and I was good for 10 years. But this is how my face looks like after 8 sessions with Uniqlaser!! They also change the staff frequently, and some of them don't know how to work with the laser machine. I've been with UniQ for two years now. I'll admit, I wasn't the biggest fan my first couple of treatments due to the customer service and lack of communication, resulting in poor treatment results. They have since shown their dedication to customer satisfaction and providing quality customer service. I absolutely adore Cat, she is such a sweetheart and it's always a joy seeing her. I loved Alison but she's no longer there. I recently had the opportunity to meet Elizabeth and she is a sweetheart as well! Both her and Cat check in with me about my hair progress as well as making sure that I am comfortable and not in pain during treatment sessions. I had treatment done on my Brazilian and my underarms. I started with my Brazilian before my underarms, so my results varied for each area due to communication. My underarms are great, I am very satisfied! My Brazilian was not as great but I've decided to continue my service with UniQ because of their priority in providing me quality customer service and results. --I understand hair is hormonal so I wasn't expecting to be completely hairless after my treatment and I understood that I would have to get touchups sometime down the line. I have been coming to UniQ since 2017. I found them on Groupon and the price was unbeatable, especially compared to a few of the more "mainstream" competitors that I had consultations with. You definitely get the best service for the best price at UniQ! My consultation at UniQ was not as comprehensive as the competitors, but this wasn't a deal-breaker for me since I had been told the same thing at all previous consultations and knew what I was getting into. UniQ's laser package is for 8 treatments, which I am a fan of over the ~6 you get from other places. I have purchased two packages of 8 treatments for each area I have had treated (16 total sessions for each area) and ended up seeing the best results at ~12 treatments, but results will differ from person to person. They have also recently started to offer touch-up packages, which I am excited to utilize. When I first started coming here, I was seeing a different person almost every time. I had the absolute worst experience here during my last laser hair removal treatment. Everything had been going well until this final treatment. I had a new technician (a woman with what sounded like a Russian accent), who had no clue about my previous treatments or why I was there. She kept asking me a bunch of questions about my treatment and then rushed through it, not even covering all of the areas identified. During the treatment, I was visibly uncomfortable due to the intensity of the laser. I asked her to lower the setting, and she argued with me, saying that my discomfort was because I didn't shave first (as I mentioned, it was my last treatment and I had no remaining hair whatsoever). I had to insist, and then she finally lowered the setting. Needless to say, I now have dark, dry patchy burns all over my face. Like all over my face. I work in a public setting and have to speak at an event this week with dark burns all over my face. When I contacted the shop, they told me that there's nothing that they can do and it was because I didn't shave first. Truly horrible experience. read more

I got 8 sessions of Brazilian laser- I recognize that hair is hormonal and that it often takes more than 8 sessions but after 8 sessions and 3 months out my hair is coming back far thicker and faster than ever before- it's awful. I have way more hair growth than ever, and before this I waxed so I wish I never did it. I don't know if it's the fact that the actual session was rushed, or the laser was not high enough to actually do anything, but I'm having to shave more than ever before! 056 / 100 - 2018 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. I've been wanting to get laser treatment for the longest time and have been waxing for years, so when I was getting ready to move across the country and had a lot of extra money in my savings, I thought to myself, "Why not do it?" After browsing and researching a bit on Groupon, I came across UniQ Laser Center. Located in Watertown, they were close by, had good ratings, and decided to just go for it. I want to start off by saying that getting the consultation is the easiest part. The hardest part is then scheduling your actual laser appointment because they are typically booked up. (After your first session it becomes very easy to schedule, though!) The consultation takes about 15-20min, is mostly just going over paperwork, and what you would like lasered. I originally signed up to just do my underarms, but they recommended that if there was anything else I wanted to do (bikini, brazilian, arms, etc.) to do it in addition to my under arms. I am SO glad that I took their advice... I can't imagine having to come back in a year to start the 8 session process for another area all over again. For me, each session has been about 15-20min, tops. That's about the same amount of time it takes me to get there, one way. LOL. Their machines are state of the art and the technicians are amazing at what they do. They are super friendly and incredibly polite. The rooms are always clean too! There's always tons of street parking nearby, so I've never had to worry too much about that. I recommend shaving the areas you're lasering off the day before your appointment. Your skin will be tender afterwards and hair will continue to grow, but they DO fall out within a week or two. After my first session, 75% of my hair was already gone or growing back very, very, VERY slowly. Nice! Granted, everyone's mileage may vary. I am lucky that I am pale skinned, but have dark hair. I'm also not THAT hairy to begin with. They do increase the power of the laser, so my 2nd appointment was a lot more painful than my first one. If you are experiencing any discomfort, be sure to tell your technician to pause or take a break. Mine simply stopped for a minute, upped the cooling fan, and it made things easy. I visited UniQLaser in June for a Sculptra buttox enhancement procedure. I was told that the nurse practitioner who was going to do the procedure was licensed and certified in this and had extensive experience with the Sculptra butt lift procedure but that she was new to this facility. I was told at the consult that this is a procedure that works 100% of the time and would take around 6 weeks to see results. The NP encouraged me to come back at 8 weeks to assess if I wanted more product or if I was satisfied with the procedure. She even encouraged me to purchase additional product for a better result at the consult. (I paid $4000 originally then was upsold another $1300). I waited the 8 weeks with no result. During my 8 week follow up, I informed the manager, Natalie and the NP, Vicky, that I did not think the procedure had worked. The NP took pictures and compared them to my "before" pictures from 8 weeks prior. Besides some dark markings where I had significant bruising after the procedure, there was no visible difference. Both the NP and the manager tried to tell me that they saw significant difference in the photos, circling and pointing to areas of "enhancement." Natalie and Vicky told me that they had had other customers who were pleased with the 8 week results and no other complaints about this procedure. I asked to speak to the owner and told Natalie I wanted a refund, but was told that the manager would contact him directly. I waited in the waiting room during her call and heard her on the phone with the manager, who apparently instructed her to call the product supplier for their Sculptra. She informed me she would call them and get back to me that same day. Before I left the office, she offered to try to make a deal with them to get me additional vials of Sculptra product, which I told her I did not want. I again informed her that I wanted a refund. Later that afternoon, I received a call from Natalie, reporting that she spoke to the drug rep for Sculptra and was told that the product actually takes 6 - 8 MONTHS to work, not weeks. When I questioned how I was told that the other clients were satisfied at 8 weeks, the question was avoided. It is clear that both Natalie and Vicky were blantantly lying, as the product would not even begin to work at the time of the 8 week follow up, where all of the other customers were allegedly "satisfied." There was no apology about having the wrong information for an expensive procedure during which I was injecting a foreign substance into my body. There was no offer to do a refund or partial refund due to giving me misinformation. I was told to wait 6 - 8 months to then return for a second follow up appointment. Natalie also said that the drug rep told her that "we injected a significant amount of product" and that there would be dramatic results. It has now almost been 6 months and there has been no change since the original procedure, other than those same dark marks that have never gone away from the injections. I have again communicated that I want a refund as I was misinformed about the product to begin with, and requested the NP's last name and license number in order to file a complaint with the board. I was not responded to by UniQlaser. I feel very unsafe and violated that this NP did not know what she was injecting into my body, which I believe meets the criteria for negligence, if not malpractice, on behalf of the NP and UniQLaser Center. I question what potential side effects this procedure may have over time as Sculptra is known to be 100% effective and it did not work for me - which makes me wonder if this was Sculptra used or another product that was mislabeled for me as the consumer, especially with the remaining dark marks (which I did bring up to the NP at the 8 week visit and she did not have an answer). I would never have done this procedure had I been told it would cost $5300 for it to "possibly" work and that I had to wait up to 8 months. I believe that I am owed a refund due to negligence and disregard of patient safety on behalf of the NP and UniQlaser. As far as your response, I have no idea who you are and have never met with you to evaluate my outcome to the procedure. I am not expecting a Kim K butt, but NOTHING has occurred. If you are Natalie or Vicky responding under another name, NO ONE would be happy with a result for over 5k that was not even noticeable when NAKED. Your invitation to come back in was limited to 2 afternoons that I am unable to do just to be gaslighted again that there are "good" results. Your negligent. You lied and laughably thought that the results would be complete in 8 weeks. A true professional would have admitted that they made a mistake, not tried to manipulate... and still try to manipulate... the client. Shame on you. read more

I have been receiving laser hair removal treatment here for the past several years. I have bad PCOS and at its worst would have to shave every single day. It always amazes me how quickly I see results and how long they last. I now get the occasional package just to do touch ups and maintenance. My friend and I went for laser removal. I asked for underarms, full brazilian and full legs. My friend asked for the neck/chin, full brazilian and underarms. We had 8 sessions and finally we still have a lot of hairs (especially legs, and full brazilian). It worked for neck/chin and underarms. I am disappointed because even if the price i paid was a good deal (1,050$) i wanted it to work. I had to leave the city so couldn't enjoy the extra sessions that they propose. WORST EXPERIENCE! Do not buy the Groupon. The company tries not to follow the fine print. I purchased a Groupon for the canton location 2 years ago. At my final session I waited an hour and was told it would be complimentary for my troubles. When I got to the counter the technician and manager began arguing about giving me a complimentary session. It was awkward and I ended up just leaving. I thought I'd give it another try and purchase another Groupon for the Watertown location. I called to make an appointment and was told I couldn't use the Groupon, even though the Groupon stayed they could be used every 180 days. Finally when they agreed to take the Groupon they began scheduling me. I was told I wouldn't need a consultation if they could get the paperwork from canton. I was placed on hold for 20 min while they acquired the paperwork. Eventually they told me I was all set. After being told I was all set I received two additional phone calls telling me I needed to schedule a consultation and that they had no idea about my previous service. I first went here because of the Groupon. It looked scary expensive at first, but It was the best priced for my area with the coupon. I almost backed out of the required consult, thinking the place was just too much for me the first time I laid eyes on the lobby. The only reason I stayed was that I've been to a couple of other places for laser hair removal, but while they were good, the idea of the cooling air with the laser was hugely appealing. I decided that if they were willing to give me such a huge discount with the Groupon, who was I to say they were nuts? So I did the consult and had my first real session. I was right; the cooling air alone is almost worth the full price, but still it's not the reason I recommend UniQ even without the Groupon. For the same reason I was apprehensive at first is the same reason I'm whole-heartedly recommending UniQ Laser Center. This isn't a back room of a salon. It seemed cold at first, but as soon as I talked to the first person at the desk, I saw it in a whole new light. UniQ Laser Center in Watertown is sleek and professional without the attitude. I've never felt so comfortable with myself in a "beauty service" (hair/nail/spa-ish) place before. Even as they zap my legs with little pinpricks of fire, I find myself smiling and chatting like I'm in _Legally Blonde_! But as we know, comfort is good, but the results are what matters. To this end, after only a couple of sessions, I'm already seeing progress. Of course, my hair/skin contrast ratio is high, but I've got absolute faith that the technicians know what they're doing. The required initial consult made me confident, but the first session sealed the deal. I was afraid of the price at first, but this is something I've wanted to do for a very, very long time. Pleeease don't waste your hard earned money on their coolsculpting! I wasted over $1300. I signed up for eight treatments. Each time the suction machine became unattached. They insisted that even though the treatments were not completed due to the faulty machine. The treatment was acceptable and I would see results. Well, it's been over 4 months and no results. The final pics they took were perceived by the staff to be satisfactory. Why didn't they use a tape measure before and after? Well, because that would have proved that Cool Sculpting or at least their machines did not work. I asked for re-treatment. But, was told no. First of all I have very pale skin and black hair (the ideal condition for laser), I had hair laser removal (HLR) in different areas and at other places before with great results. I went to UniQ Laser Center for a retouch of 6 or 8 sessions in my face and it didn't work at all while the laser I had before lasted me for about 6 years. After a few sessions, one of the ladies had a chat with me about "tips" telling me that they were talking to all the customers because they weren't tipping often, first of all tip is optional and second I only left that place without tipping once because I literally had no time to stop at the ATM but my next appointment I tipped double. It was an awkward moment. I decided to not go back to UniqLaser but my husband knew I wanted laser in my legs and without telling me, he bought a gift card for full legs (not a cheap treatment) so I just had to keep going there with the hope that this time it would work. I finished my 8 sessions last month and hair keeps growing (a little bit slower but the same amount). I know hair doesn't stop growing after 8 sessions but it should be significantly reduced, they applied the highest intensity of the machine leaving my skin with a severe rush but I never complained about it because I just wanted to get rid of the hair. Once I had to cancel my appointment last minute because I unexpectedly had my period and I didn't feel comfortable being there in pain, they charged me $20 fee, I posted a review about that and the manager called asking to remove it and she would refund the $20. The funny thing is that they can cancel you at the last minute, whenever they want and you simply have to accept it and adjust your schedule. One of the times they cancelled me, Natalie promised to give me a complimentary treatment and that never happened. The place is clean and the girls who work there are very nice (except Natalie, the manager, who can be rude and should not be in charge of customer service). The staff are all very nice and act professionally. The packages were reasonably priced, however, I did notice a few issues which started small. A lot of the office equipment was broken: iPad for signatures, filing cabinets, occasionally the lasers. The worst issue was the technician's use of the lasers for laser hair removal. I've had successful treatments done before at another spa but since it was so far away I thought I would try UniQlaser since it was so close to me. This was a large mistake as I had 3 different technicians all have poor technique for my laser hair removal. 2 of the other technicians said they were trained by Elizabeth and not by a separate organization. I contacted the maker of the GentlemaxPro laser to ask about proper technique and was told the distance gauge should not be held away from the skin. The distance gauge was to ensure that all pulses from the laser apply the same energy. All 3 of the technicians before would hold the distance gauge 3 inches from my skin and go around and around very fast. This caused less energy to be targeted to the hair follicles and actually caused significantly MORE hair. My hair grew in courser, darker, and I saw more hair growing. When I brought this up the manager really did try her best to "make it right" by assigning me to different technicians but after the third it was clear that there was an education issue and any more treatments would only make it worse. They did refund me my money but now I have to go back to my far away spa and pay significantly more to fix the increase in hair after the laser treatments by UniQlaser. read more

I have been coming to this place since Jan 2019... Initial I had bought package for underarms and full face. The first two appointments went really good so I bought more packages. Their staff changed in between and I was not happy with my appointments anymore as I was not seeing any difference. They asked me to wait for 6 sittings to see the difference but I still had lot of hair on my legs, arms , hands ..after my 7th sitting. My friends last appointment was with Tracy Lee and she suggested me to go with her. I had an amazing appointment with Tracy. She was very patient and did the laser very carefully. I saw a reduction in growth after appointment with her. Unfortunately it was 8th appointment for most of things. Besides that it's mainly very close by to drive to, the facilities in this place is soooo modern and clean bringing their profession to a whole new level. Another thing that brings their services to a higher level is the staff. How often you see the staff come up to you and introduce themselves and offer their services. I checked out other laser spa places and the staff in a lot of them just walk up and bluntly asked you what would like to do for yourself. The staff at UniQ just simply strike a conversation how I am like and what are my goals and concerns to reach my target body figure. The staff walk me down the services they offer and gave me a quick and easy insight to understand the process. They also took the time to know more about my well-being to avoid health risks. How often you see people like that care about you, not about getting money from you?
