Fantastic meal during these insane times. Easy online ordering, easy curbside pickup. We got the pulled chicken dinner w cornbread/beans, Caesar salad and the pork belly. Fantastic meal, just as if we dined in. Support your local restaurants! read more

I went here several days ago with my son and mom and it was great! So first I'll start with the decor- it reminded me of a cute rustic farmhouse vibe. Just really nice, really cute. My mom thought everything was adorable even my iced coffee glass that came served in a mason jar. Next the staff- they were so friendly and very personable. Our waiter kept interacting with my son every time he came over and what parent doesn't love that? There was also a very sweet woman, I can't remember her name, and I'm not sure if she was the manager or hostess but she was great to talk to, quite personable. And now the food- the menu didn't feel overwhelming, but I still had trouble over what I wanted to order because everything sounded great! I had their short ribs which were so good and the portions were big enough for two meals. My mom had their New Orleans Shrimp stew, also delicious, and also good size portion. Their kids menu is a very average and simple menu which is perfect because for the most part my 6 year old only eats average, easy things so we got him the chicken tenders. Their dessert special was flan, and as full as we were, we decided to order it because I've never tried it before. Did not regret that decision one bit, it was amazing. I also took home a burger for my boyfriend for when he came home from work at 10 at night, and he said it was really good even after it was in the fridge for 3 hours. Prices are very reasonable for the great food that you get. Writing this makes me want to go back again, which I will for brunch. read more

Our first time at Union Straw in Foxboro and can't say enough about the pleasant staff and manager. Everyone we encountered was very pleasant including our waitress Gianna. She took very good care of us and didn't rush us. We sat outside and it was very pleasant. They did a great job making that patio. We were a little disappointed in the menu more because of its offerings not the taste. What we had was good but we all had trouble finding what we wanted. Menu wasn't as expected. A sparse menu for sure. Was not given the Sothern comfort I asked for in my cocktail but kept it without saying anything. That was probably the one down side. Had I been told I would have ordered something else. But all in all a good experience for a fairly new place. Good luck. We will return. read more

First time. Nice place. We got mostly apps. Food was pretty good. Crab cakes so so. PGB salad was awesome. Wings were fat and wet. Just Ok. Ate at bar. Had an obviously new bartender. No worries. Expected slowness etc. The issue was he had horrible allergies or a really bad cold. Poor guy kept wiping his nose, grabbing it...problem was he never washed or wiped his hands...even on his pants or something. He would wipe or swipe or grab at nose and then immediately grab a glass with same hand, make a cocktail and serve. Horrendously grossed me out. I'd wipe my glass off with napkins every time. We tipped normally. Guy was having a rough night. Another issue was the slowness of the Tuesday night, the manager and a veteran bartender were also tending bar. We finished our drinks and pushed our empties forward. Our new guy was in outer space, but the other guy training him and the manager walked by our glasses and us about 15 times over 10 minutes. Normally I'd lean forward and grab them but this was our first night. I was seeing how they handled simple things like asking if we wanted another. Nope. I eventually leaned forward grabbed the runny nose guys attention. And vigorously wiped my glass down after being served again. Wife stopped and mentioned to manager on way out. She appreciated us letting her know . May try again. Not sure. read more

The best food I have ever had, I highly recommend them for a drink and the chicken waffles. This restaurant is my favorite go to. Chef Dan Lane knows how to cook and is one of the best chefs in the industry read more

Great vibe and service. Tuna special and popcorn chicken were great. Small but solid beer selection. We've been twice now and will be back again. read more

This place looks very modern and really hip. The vibe was kind of hectic and you can tell they are still working the kinks out. That said, my meal was decent but not great. I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Haddock. The meal arrived relatively quickly which was nice but my haddock was near the point of being over cooked. It was still decent, which is why I didn't send it back (I never send anything back unless it's terrible) but lacked flavor which I think got zapped out of it from being close to overcooked. Not much Parmesan flavor nor did I taste much of the citrus butter glaze. I did taste some lemon which I'm assuming someone in the kitchen squeezed some on my fish at some point. It came with asparagus and risotto which were both good. The risotto was the best part of the dish, which was disappointing. The other issue I have with Union is that I got my meal and three beers and my tab was about $60...Now granted my beers were craft but at over $10 a beer that is way too high. At least their craft selection is decent, which was nice. Also, my haddock was way over priced at $28. Would I go back here? Probably, but I would stick to a couple apps or a burger and maybe a beer or two. Please consider lowering your beer prices because your charging folks $10 a beer on average that most other places would have for $6-8. read more

As residents of Foxboro we like to give our business to in town businesses. My wife and I had dinner tonight at Union Straw and overall we enjoyed our experience. We started with the house made chips for an appetizer which were very tasty along with the dipping sauce. For dinner my wife had a salad and the drunkin onion soup which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had a burger which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. We sat at the bar and Brie our server was quiet attentive and friendly. As the restaurant evolves I'd enjoy seeing a more extensive menu with perhaps some pasta dishes and maybe something like fish and chips. I would also like to see a better selection of beer for those of us who are not into craft or IPA beer. Aside from those it was Bud, Bud Light, Corona and Mic Ultra. I've recently seen a lot of the newer restaurants getting away from some of the top sellers like Miller Lite and Coors Light, not sure why this is. Overall a decent experience. read more

Not impressed, we were excited to check it out and support a new local business. The food was really lacking in the taste dept, even my son's flatbread had a weird gross taste that tasted like moldy sauce. My daughter had a kids Mac n cheese that was too fancy and big for a kid. I was disappointed that burgers came with chips instead of fries. The water cups were too small and we had to keep grabbing a waitress to refill. Hopefully they can work out some of these kinks because it's a nice looking place. read more

What a great addition to area restaurants. We have been there twice. Pre pandemic 5 stars. First week of being able to go back to eating at restaurants 4 stars. The reduction in stars is due to a reduced menu that ended up with one party member loving their entree and another disliking theirs. The manager noticed and provided a replacement. That action gets a rating of 5 stars. This new restaurant is trying in a time that is difficult. Looking forward to visiting again when the menu is increased. read more

While the atmosphere is great and the restaurant is very cool our first time here may be our last. The main reason has to do with the unreasonable wait time for our food. When our dinners finally came after 45 minutes after placing our order one of us four didn't get his meal until 10 minutes later, and it was a salad! The food ( when it finally came) was just ok and overpriced. Had high hopes for this place but food is more important than atmosphere. read more

Went for the first time for brunch. Nice hip atmosphere, server was great. Food was tasty, although portion size of my meal, and friend's was unexpectedly small. Ordered the frittata which was omelet de jour. Served a small muffin sized portion and tiny pile of berries.Kind if dissapointing. Other friends omelets was normal sized.Would give another try though read more

I had a bbq plate. It was fine. I appreciated that the baked beans were in their own ramekin, but I wish the corn bread had also been separated, as the bottom of it got soaked by the juices from the meat. I was very happy that the slaw was a traditional vinegar-base and no mayo, as it should be with bbq. It was a solid meal, all-in-all. Not the best bbq I've ever had, but fine. My spouse had a flatbread, and he had the same impression. Not the best flatbread he's ever had and certainly lacking the habanero kick the description seemed to imply, but still fine. However, I ordered the desert charcuterie plate--a special that evening--which was out of this world! The presentation was beautiful, and the mix of sweet and tart, chocolate and vanilla, cookie and pastry, was perfection. This dessert was enough for 3-4 people, and I wish I'd been told that when I ordered, but I brought most of it home to share with family, so no one was complaining. Every single item on the plate was flavorful and delicious. It was disappointing that Union Straw offered no coffee at all to accompany the desserts. At a place like this I would've expected the option of a good cup of coffee and/or cappuccino, especially given that they serve brunch on Sundays and therefore should have the appropriate equipment. The service was friendly, but a bit inconsistent and slow. We asked for another minute with the menu, and it took 20 minutes for the server to return. Overall, Union Straw is a great addition to the area and offers a pleasant departure from the usual suburban chain restaurants. The interior is modern and spacious, and they offer outdoor seating as well. I will certainly return and try another menu item here. read more

6 friends on the patio. super relaxing and nice atmosphere. our server could not have been nicer or more attentive. she was great! i had the pear salad w chevre, bacon and grilled chicken. could have used a bit more chicken but was good anyway. everyone loved their meals except the friend who ordered ribs said they were just OK. cant comment on the inside but looked fine to me! read more

This place was great! My friends and I were looking to grab food after shopping at Wrentham and stumbled upon this place. The brunch food was fantastic and so were the drinks. Great service too! Definitely recommend and will be back! read more

There's a new Sheriff in town and it's Union Straw!! Fantastic atmosphere they completely gutted the old American Legion to a place that could fit in any great city across the globe. The bar is awesome, finally someone gets it and build a restaurant with a bar that can seat (I'm guessing) 40 people. The food is great, never been disappointed with the items we have ordered. My only suggestion would be to find a way to add items to the menu as it's limited, however they are probably trying to figure things out as they have only been opened approx. 2 months. Knowing it's Foxboro and not the city adjusting the prices to a more local crowd will make this wonderful place a staple in town for years to come. Great job to the owners on the build out. Austin and Liz are always welcoming and there to serve the drink of your choice and won't let your glass stay empty long... read more

So my wife & I decided to give this place a try this past Friday night. A little difficult to find the parking lot but once we found parking & entered the restaurant things seemed very chaotic. The bar was jam packed but 1/2 the tables in the dining area were empty. When we asked the hostess if there was a wait she informed us 45 minutes. We waited about 10 minutes, the tables remained empty the hostess didn't even bother to take down out name (she said should would recognize us by what we were wearing). needles to say we walked out after quickly realizing that they were totally unorganized & will not bother attempting to try it @ a later date. read more

It is really wonderful to have a place to go in town. Food is good, drinks as well. Servers are very attentive. But... they need to do some sound attenuation. It is so loud that you can't hear the person next to you. We were here tonight, Tuesday, and before the restaurant was full it was still incredibly loud. We won't go back until this is fixed. read more

We got take out last night. We have been wanting to try it for a while so we figured why not give them the business during this time. We ordered ribs a salad with chicken and buffalo tenders. The chicken in the salad was absolutely inedible . It was dry and couldn't even cut it. The ribs were dry as well but at least edible. The corn bread was a hockey puck and the beans didn't taste home made pretty sure they were canned. The bacon in the salad was raw. It was very disappointing considering the price we paid . I know supplies are limited but if you can't provide the quality service and food then don't stay open. I will not recommend and will not go back ! read more

FINALLY!!! Foxboro finally has a good restaurant in town...Thanks to the owners who saw the opportunity to open a made from scratch restaurant in a market that greatly appreciates good food. The newly converted VFW hall has been transformed into Union Straw a simple but smartly decorated restaurant that has historic reminders of yesteryear. The bar is ample, there is plenty of seating including large tables to accommodate large parties and the open kitchen concept allows patrons to view the talented chefs hard at work. We have been there for both brunch and dinner and were surprisingly satisfied on both visits. Two items that stood out were the short rib entree at dinner and the crab cake benedict for brunch. Friendly wait staff, talented bartenders and owners in the kitchen made both of our visits pleasurable. We will definitely be back. read more

Had an amazing dinner on Thursday at the union straw. My husband and I went out for an early valentines dinner. We ordered a few courses and were there for a while and the bartender, Brittany was amazing! She made a great sangria and was super personable. We ordered a soup and Hog Wings to start which were phenomenal followed by the ribeye and couch potato flatbread. All were delicious!! It seemed like there a few difficult patrons nearby and the Brittany handled their complaints with so much professionalism, while serving a bar full of people! We will definitely be back! read more

Food was very good, but the portions were average, hostess didn't appear very organized. We were told it would be about a twenty five minute wait but it was forty five minutes before we were seated. Shortly before we were seated the hostess asked what name we had put on the waiting list. I believe we were skipped over on the list. Not worth the hassle. read more

KUDOS to Chef Dan Lane for the absolutely delicious appetizer and dessert he prepared for the Hadassah Sharon-Stoughton fundraiser Saturday night. I could have made an entire meal of his vegetarian caponata empanada, with bourbon apple butter. In fact, I am salivating just thinking about it as I write this review. Dessert was a spiced apple blossom tart with a bourbon caramel drizzle, served warm and seriously, the only thing that could've made it better would've been a scoop of vanilla ice cream a la mode. Perfect ending to a delicious meal. Highly recommend Chef Dan Lane's culinary creations! read more

Beautifully decorated. Awesome menu. Delicious, fresh food. Great drink selection & friendly staff. Will be back for sure!

Amazing food. Excellent service. Inviting atmosphere. I can't say enough about this place. Sadly, I was there for only a short visit. If I lived in Foxboro it would be in the weekly meal rotation. If my travels bring me near here again it will definitely be on my list to revisit. Give it a try ya'll, it's so good. Don't be shy with the whiskey bacon onion jam. It's a gotta try! read more

Fourth time here and once again the food was great. Arrived at 6pm on a Saturday night and was told it would be an hour wait. Waited just over an hour and waitress greeted us right away with water. Took our drink order and drinks came quickly. Kitchen was SO slow. Ordered apps that took a while and there was a LONG wait between apps and our meals. Need to work out the issues with getting food out of the kitchen in a more timely manner. read more

I've visited Union Straw twice now. My first visit was on a Friday night and let me tell you the food was amazing. My dining party ordered the Candied Pork Belly as a starter. It was flavorful and the glaze was so delicious you had to lick your fingers. For our entrees we got the Kama Jama Chicken Sandwich, the Award-Winning Steak and the Mac & Cheese. Everyone was so impressed with their dishes. We ended the night with a moist and decadent Carrot Cake. The food was so great, I knew I had to go back. Fast forward to this Monday night, I brought a friend with me and raved about the food on our way in. We ordered the Fried Cheese Curds and Kale, White Bean and Artichoke Dip. They were decent starters, exactly what I was expecting. But when it came to tonight's entrees, they were less than desirable. My friend ordered the Pork Belly Burnt Ends. They were so noticeable dry, when you took a bite into the cubed meat you could see a dehydrated crust of skin and stringy interior. The cornbread was stodgy and flavorless and the remaining sides were "meh". I ordered the Bison Shepherd's Pie which tasted more like ground hamburger. The potatoes were roughly chopped and compressed with a fork. Not the silky smooth mashed potatoes that typically come to mind. The green beans and corn were cold and the red wine rosemary gravy had the consistency of watery beef stock instead of the the rich slow cooked gravy one would expect from a standard Shepherd's Pie. In the end, I essentially received a lukewarm stew. We finished this evening's meal with the Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich. The ice cream was fine, but the waffle was gritty. The dessert was oddly served on a dish that was smaller than our appetizer plates. There was not enough room to spread the dessert around, especially when sharing with another individual. From a presentation standpoint the plating choice was a miss. I truly believe this restaurant is a gem. And I want to keep coming back. However, if customers are going to make this place one of their regular spots, you need to ensure the same quality of food is provided regardless of the night. I will come back and give this place another chance. My first experience was so great, the mere memory of it is preventing me from crossing this restaurant off of my "Go To List". I write this review in hopes that it makes it back to the owner, because consistency does matter. read more

Had the best meal in a long time at this newly opened restaurant last weekend. Great service and a coconut rum cake to die for !

Very cool atmosphere but loud. 3 stars because the general dining room with the open bar all in one room was very loud to have a conversation with the family. I think I would do a girls night next time and submit another review from that point of view. The apps and wine were great. My salmon was over cooked and bland. Maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed bc the place was packed. My husband loved his shrimp stew. One of the owners, Jen, is amazing. read more

This is not a destination restaurant experience. That being said, the service is top notch and it is a great local watering hole. Foxborough is lucky to have this spacious ( huge bar) that has great prepared food and an attentive staff. I'm a cheapskate so I always grouse at prices. However, I have no idea of costs, but their prices keep me from regular visits. read more

Great food, not a huge selection but all good. Owner is there watching things. Service is very good, very nice bar as well

Service was mediocre and food wasn't that good, asked for a box for a sandwich and wait staff threw it out. Had to ask for drink refills. Not going back. No manager came over to see how our food and experience was. read more

The food, service and atmosphere is oh so good. Down one star because the fish is farm raised :(

Hostess out to lunch? Food and bartender were fantastic unfortunately hostess ruined it all for us. We checked in at 6:35 with an hour wait and decided to stand by the bar. The restaurant was packed! My husband and friend checked on our status twice and hosted stated we were almost ready. One hour and 40 minutes later spots opened at the bar and the 3 of us were able to sit and eat. The hostess came to us once the waiting area was empty and asked if we'd still like a table. What really bothered me is swarms of people came in after us and they were all seated. Unless everyone of them had a reservation she must have forgotten about us without as much of an apology. read more

Review based on 2 visits and rating is really 3.5 stars rounded up. First visit we ordered the house potato chips (don't bother), duck grilled cheese (just ok) and salmon. 2nd visit we had the korean bbq wings (delish), straw burger (very good) and the fig prosciutto flatbread (very good). We are bar people so both times we sat at bar. Service at the bar has been good. The activity behind the bar seems chaotic. Usually for a place this size there a couple of bartenders. At times there seemed to be 5/6 people behind the bar, just seemed chaotic and innefficient. The food on 2nd visit was better than first. The house chips were not crispy at all. If you are going to charge $5 for handfuls of house chips, they best be damn good chips. The duck grilled cheese was meh...salmon was good. All items on the 2nd visit were very good, and served in a timely manner. My only negative on the burger is the price. $16 bucks for a burger is couple bucks more than I would expect. Egg or no egg, it's a burger! Give me a break. A slightly better beer selection, especially draft would be good. Would def try this place again. Overall good, not great. Nice to have a place like this in Patriotsville. read more
