Would not go back again. The restaurant currently has indoor and outdoor seating. The service is good. But the food leaves something more to be desired. They try to our unique twist on classic dishes and it just messes up the flavor of that dish. My lobster roll had a sauce and herbs that messed up the taste of a good classic lobster roll. The elote loco was horrible, coming from someone who's had legit street corn from the Mexican elote man. They sadly messed up the corn but putting, I think feta on there. And they grilled or baked it to nastiness. The rest of my party wasn't too thrilled either. Besides the weirdness of the food, it's a nice ambiance to sit and talk with friends though. I def wouldn't order anything to go. Oh and they have BBQ plates. They were alright. Again, they tried to put their own twist on it and it was no bueno. I've had way better BBQ. IMO ‍ read more

It's a good place to hangout and have drinks, good vibe inside very cozy in the winter but DO NOT order food unless you want to be completely ripped off. Drinks are priced well but they make up for it on the food. Very cheaply made very mediocre and small portions. Be careful unless you don't care about wasting money. To the business manager that commented on my review, thank you for responding and I appreciate the input. Unfortunately the entire sandwich had 1 piece of bacon. It was a 20 dollar grilled cheese and tomato soup. There was no cheese on it and the tomato soup was a small dipping cup of pasta sauce.... read more

Super cool atmosphere. Server was fantastic. The value was not there. My dish, a special, has weird mini zucchinis in it & the steak I had added was raw. Was nearly $40. Husband had under whelming wings. Drinks were expensive. Wanted to love this place but won't spend a date night there again. Heard from family & friends about disappointing experiences here so here's my late review. All said great staff, meals that missed the mark. read more

I have been many times to have dinner/breakfast and just apps and drinks at the bar. The last option is probably the best to enjoy what they do well. Breakfast was ok but too many times, the dinners have underwhelmed. This past Monday I went with two friends and we each paid $48. for mixed quality of food. I ordered the shrimp po'boy with a side salad. My sandwich was quite delicious. I was happy with my meal and the salad serving was very generous. One friend was excited to try the pulled pork taco board- the presentation was cool - piles of taco ingredients on a slab of wood to make your own. The taco shells were chewy, the cheese offered is goat cheese, the lettuce was Romaine and the salsa looked like home made but made with pale tomatoes in giant chunks. She didn't finish it. My other friend ordered the mussel appetizer and a French Onion Soup. The mussels were ok- a little small and the broth was not very complicated in flavor. The onion soup was very salty and not appealing either and she didn't finish. My friends had room for dessert and the harvest cake caught their eye bc they love candy corn. It arrived looking and tasting more like a muffin, a day old muffin at that overcooked and dry, and no candy corn. Apparently they had run out. I feel like I have given Union Straw many chances to shine and they miss the mark 70% of the time. If it were priced more reasonably, I wouldn't have as high expectations and would understand them faltering here and there. The server was wonderful and cheerful. I just think the kitchen could step it up a little more. read more

Outstanding food, drinks, and service. This will definitely be a regular spot for us and to bring friends! Pulled Pork Plate and Kama Jama Chicken Sandwich were excellent. read more

They have a changing seasonal menu with a few staples. Great appetizers, good for sharing. I've had many of their main courses. I keep going back to their Mac n cheese and BBQ. Recently had them combined... what a delight. Their drinks are my favorite. An innovative rotating seasonal cocktail list. Always well made. A few months ago they even partnered with an animal charity with a special portion of their menu to give back. I love that! Overall a really nice place. Make sure to have a reservation, it's usually pretty full. read more

Perfect place to meet friends halfway between Boston and Providence. It is easy access to 95. I took a chance and really enjoyed what we found. The menu is very varied and there was something for everyone. the chicken and waffles were very sweet kind of like dinner and just heard all rolled into one dish. That salads were good, as was the French onion soup. The large pretzel was very large and easy to share. We did not order dessert but the table next to us did and it looked incredibly decadent. We will come here again. read more

Wasn't bad. Not great. Just ok. Nice looking place with outside seating. Confusing to identify the entrance! Nice atmosphere. Small menu. Got red sangria 2 drink, awful! App-Caesar salad, fresh lettuce, homemade crouton, fake cheese & menu says "fresh shaved" parmigiana cheese-disappointing Entrees-Chicken & waffles, excellent homemade waffles, just regular chicken fingers, bone in chicken would be great! 1/2rack ribs & pork belly bbq dinner Both were pretty good, cornbread yummy, average baked beans, yucky coleslaw Server was Thomas, he was good & efficient. read more

My first time here and we went on a Tuesday night with my toddler. The atmosphere was amazing--relaxed and rustic with the perfect foodie vibe to it. I am giving it 5 stars because I feel that compared to comparable restaurants in the area this exceeds expectations. The waitstaff was incredible. Very welcoming and attentive to our needs as a family with a young child. My daughter has never raved so much about a restaurant before! I had the 1/2 chicken with garlic mashed and Swiss chard. It was flavorful and beautifully presented. It was a tad undersalted for my taste but I would much rather add my own salt than have something overly salty so I did not mind. My daughter had the Mac and cheese which impressively was very good (I would have eaten it myself!) and the banana toffee cake was incredible. My mom got some pretty awesome cocktails. Overall the experience was pleasant, the food was delicious and I will definitely be back for date night or with my family! read more

I had a great meal. I live in Foxboro and biked up to union straw for an early outside dinner. The service was excellent and the food was great. I ordered the cauliflower for an appetizer. It was light and not greasy with a very sweet delicious sauce. My main course was the salmon. It was cooked to perfection and a perfect size entre The martini was perfect too. I will definitely go back. An unexpected delicious meal. Highly recommend read more

This is a cute spot nestled into Foxboro. It was nice out so my friend and I sat outside on the patio which looked like it also had heaters for cooler nights. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us often. The tables and inside and bathroom were clean. I ordered a red sangria, my friend a Bloody Mary and we were both happy with our drinks. For food I ordered the Mac and cheese with burnt ends. I was a little disappointed only because I was expecting traditional burnt ends, these were very small and seemed to be coated and fried, with no sauce. My friend was happy with her pulled chicken, corn bread and slaw. Would like to come back here and try something else. read more

The atmosphere here is great. It really has that farmhouse appeal. I thought the leather bound drink menu was unique. We had a very short wait in an area that had ample room to sit which I also thought was great. The food was ok. The service, however, was less than desirable. The waitress came to our table twice, once to get our order and the other time to get our check. No one came to ask how the food was or ask if we'd like another drink. I was really surprised by the 4 star rating this place got on yelp. We won't be going back. read more

My good friend suggested this place since we were planning on taking another good friend out on a Tuesday. Both of us are BARTENDERS and strongly support BARTENDERS. With that being said 4 of us took a corner space at bar, but it almost felt like we weren't wanted there. The bartender was cold not friendly and we had to call her over for EVERYTHING. She took drinks away before they were done, she did it a few times. My friend asked for ice and she TOTALY ignored her request. Spent most of her night on phone at other end of bar,, other than our party of 4 , bar only had a few other guests so made no sense for us to have to keep calling her over, Even to pay bill we had to hand bill and cards too a manager. Food and drinks were ok But the service was disappointing Since we are in the industry we did decide 15% for her tip mind you our bill was over 300$ But she didn't even deserve that. read more

Okay. I have to say it... There is NO food as good as the duck grilled cheese on cranberry toast!!! By far the BEST sandwich I have ever had. It should be listed in the Massachusetts top 10 things to do!! read more

I love this restaurant and the management team is amazing! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the quality of the food and cocktails isn't always consistent - it seems to really depend on who's working. Everything has always been on point and great on the weekends and the only time I've had issues were on Monday nights where the food/cocktails weren't as good as they had been on the weekend nights I had been there. The management team truly is amazing though and they go above and beyond to make sure the customers are happy and wanting to come back! read more

The decor was very cute, very rustic. Got the grand smoke burger which came with a lot of meat, the beef patty and two pieces of candied pork. Burger was very sizable so very filling. Asked for the burger to be cooked medium, but the patty was basically fully cooked, and the pork belly pieces were kinda dry. The truffle fires were slightly disappointing, kinda just tasted like regular fries and were a bit chilled and soggy by the time the food arrived. The wait time for the food felt like forever. read more

Have been waiting a long time to try out Union straw after seeing a bunch of posts on Instagram from their Chef, Dan Lane. We were able to make a reservation for two and went on a Monday night, it wasn't too busy. They have a really beautiful space and you definitely feel safe as everything is distanced. The chef is incredible. They had a salmon spring roll special running for the appetizer and we just had to try it! I wouldn't have thought salmon and seaweed would go so well together but it was absolutely incredible. We tried a bunch of other stuff, candied pork belly, shrimp and alligator chorizo, Mac and cheese and the prime rib. I would say the prime rib is a must. The portion is huge and the meat literally melts in your mouth. Ended off with the strawberry shortcake which was also absolutely divine and not too sweet. Union straw is a bit of a drive for us but I will absolutely be back. read more

I have been here a few times, and it has always been pretty good. I took my wife here on 10/02 (which was a Monday) for our wedding anniversary. The first sign of trouble is I ordered the "Smoked Mezcal Old Fashioned." This is a drink I normally would not order, but I thought it was cool that it comes out covered with smoke on the inside of the drink. When the drink came out, there was no smoke - the waitress (who was super nice) indicated they ran out of butane, and there was no smoke in my drink. I reluctantly took the drink, and didn't want to be fussy because it was our anniversary dinner. For entree's I ordered the pork belly with scallops; the portion was small - but the taste was spot on. My wife ordered the salmon; which came out raw. We notified the waitress, who brought it back to the kitchen. 20 minutes later it came back out - this time the skin of the salmon was charred/burnt - but it was still raw in the center. We again notified the waitress who apologized and said she would have it cooked; but at this point we decided the kitchen was having a tough night and declined. The waitress said she would send over the manager, we did not ask for the manager. The person who came over I am pretty sure was not the manager, and was another waitress; I state this because she was filling water and taking orders from other sections - the manager/owner appeared to be in back handling paperwork. The manager/waitress apologized said they would take the salmon off the bill (which they should have because it wasn't cooked/or ate) and asked if she could do anything else. We politely declined and asked for the check. Union Straw had been in our rotation of 4 to 5 restaurants we go to locally for a nice night out; we have dropped them from our rotation. Maybe the kitchen was having a rough night, maybe because it was a Monday or maybe they are now cutting corners, there are so many other places around we will not take our chances moving forward. read more

Parking outside in front, watch out for the steps entering the restaurant. A beautiful gem with a simple rustic and earth decor, think Joanna and Chip Gaines kinda style with open floor plan with a dining room in the back past the restrooms. It's an open kitchen but does not look relatively large. There is a bar with good size TVs for sports viewing. The menu was quite extensive, a mini version of Cheesecake Factory. We started off with the jumbo chicken wings bone in dry rub, Mac n cheese flat bread and fried pickle chips. We were a table of six so I felt the food did take longer to come but when it did it was delicious and aesthetically pleasing. The wings were simply delicious with great seasoning! The Mac n cheese flatbread was from another world from the oozing cheese to the burnt crisp edge. I had the bolognese gluten free option with spaghetti squash instead with no garlic bread with sausage, bacon and ground beef. Cooked so beautifully, plated so well and great portions for $22. Finished off with Tiramisu cup and brownie sundae which the warm brownie was not sweet and complimented well with the ice cream! Great service, highly recommend coming! read more

Great spot. Really cool modern barnyard decor with a large bar. They recently opened and Im really rooting for them. The portions are massive and I hope that they dont change that as they grow. The big portions actually just somehow work with the feel of the spot. Also it isnt just big its also quite tasty. Try the pretzel and the phenomenal cheese curds (only $5!). My friends had the glazed pork which they said was amazing but I must say that I found the presentation to be quite weird. The only negative was that their desert menu is quite limited. I dont usually mind this as when you dont have a baker in house its best to stick with the basics. That said it pissed me off I asked it the ice cream was made in house and they confirmed, stating the icecream was "homemade." Unfortunately, I saw them scoop it from a brand name carton. Still that didnt stop me from enjoying the brownie sunday! read more

We ordered a burger, a crispy chicken sandwich, and bolognese to go. The food was just average. I think what got to us was the bolognese was $25 for barely a child-sized portion. I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe this was the best bolognese I'll ever have - it was not. It was average and the sauce didn't taste homemade. Even if it was scratch made, this is worth $13 tops for this portion size. I feel stolen from. read more

I want to preface this review by saying no one has been more supportive of the restaurant industry during Charlie Baker's reign of terror during Covid than me. I have been to a restaurant nearly every week, advocated my town to close off its downtown streets for outside dining and am honored to call Erik Hynes of the Hynes Restaurant Group an ally in that fight. I have been to Union Straw a few times since the beginning of the year and consider their Chicken and Waffles and Turducken Burger some of my absolute favorites. I always wanted to try their Sunday Brunch as my son has raved about it and reviewed the menu several times for the brunch offering. Today however, Valentine's Day, they decided to go with a different scaled down menu for brunch. Totally their choice and respect that. However, there was no notice of this lighter menu either on their website or OpenTable. Told my son about it and he agreed that offering Chicken and Pancakes instead of Chicken and Waffles was a bit weird. The manager acknowledged as much that it was pretty much their error this didn't get out there and talked some nonsense about how it was Covid related they had to lighten their menu, etc. I get it, it was totally their call but notice should have been given as I very well might have decided to go to another venue. Anyway, bottom line, they knew we were disappointed and a thoughtful manager probably would have offered a gift card to come back for their full brunch. Too bad, I thought it was a real nice place and was hoping to make it a regular stop, come on Union Straw, get it together. read more

A friend saw this place on Phantom Gourmet and suggested we try it. It's a really cute place that is perfectly decorated. The menu is adorable and has quite the offerings. We opted to get some apps and drinks. I got the Grapefruit Old Fashioned. It was the perfect mix of ingredients. My friend got the raspberry lime Mule. It was also good but a little sweet for my taste. We got three appetizers. The calamari was extremely tender and perfectly fried. The Parmesan Truffle Tots were amazing. Crunchy, tasty with the perfect amount of seasoning and truffle. I took home the left overs. The amaziness of the evening was the lobster dip!!! What lobster dip? It was amazing. Perfect combination of lobster, spices, cheese. Paired with a soft bread for dipping. I'd be back just for the lobster dip. read more

Food, service, drinks and atmosphere were all on point! My 3 children, husband and I all agree that we will return again and again. So I'm indifferent about this place.....we had the honey bbq bone in wings - our staple app literally everywhere we go and they were excellent!! We also got the Pear/goat cheese salad with crumbled bacon bits and a mustard dressing which was also very good! However ...... the margarita flatbread pizza was HORRIBLE - I'd rather have thrown an Ellios pizza in the toaster oven (high school favorite) it was undercooked and tasted like the sauce came straight out of a hunts pre made can. No bubbly cheese or crispy crust - a true flop! Atmosphere is nice - a little stark for my taste but well done overall and service was good. Here's my biggest gripe..... 2 beers - 2 Moscow mules salad, pizza & wings - almost $100 - way overpriced....sorry, but I would rather go somewhere more reasonably priced. I mean, aside from the wings, anyone can make a salad and any descent restaurants Gould be able to make a simple pizza. Not really $well spent! read more
