Pretty awesome! We had a great lunch. My Apple Pie (or Crisp?) Old Fashion was terrific. The duck grilled cheese was amazing (pic below). Others in the party: burnt ends (excellent), great salads, chicken and waffles (excellent). Overall, everything was excellent. Looking forward to coming back! read more

Nice spot, both indoor and outdoor. Lots of unusual, and really good, items on the menu -- e.g. in house made potato chips (VERY good), candied pork belly (delicious!), voodoo shrimp, shrimp tacos (not unique but very tasty), etc. We sat in a semi-private room that was perfect for our large group. And the service was REALLY good too. We'll definitely be back... soon. :) read more

Food was delicious, drinks were great. Ate outside on the back patio. Will DEFINITELY be back!

We just went to Union Straw to celebrate our anniversary and we were very lucky to have Amber as our waitress. She has the greatest attitude and smiled brightly the whole time and has a great way of making people happy! She knows all about the menu and is extremely helpful and so pleasant! We really enjoyed talking to her! Can'T wait to go back and see her again!!! read more

My wife and I had a great dinner here tonight. Great local beer such as Widowmaker and Tilted Barn on tap. Had the Pork Dumplings with Korean BBQ sauce, they seemed homemade which was a pleasant surprise for an American comfort food restaurant in the suburbs. Harvest salad was made with premium greens and super fresh. We got kids chicken and waffles for my toddler and the Belgian waffle was great, chicken was more like premium chicken fingers and perfect for her. My steak entree speaks for itself in the photo, charred just right and a perfect medium rare, served french bistro style sliced over duck confit potatoes. I could see other reviews not being thrilled with an $18 burger or barbeque as takeout, just come in and try something new, this pace is a gem. read more

Sometimes the menu is limited. We do love their burgers. Sometimes the noise makes it hard to hold a conversation!

We have tried almost everything on the menu, and nothing has disappointed. Everyone in the house is a big fan of the chicken and waffles. The waffles have some sort of delicious sugar crust that should be illegal. if you're super picky about your chicken, I could not recommend the fried chicken more. Never rubbery never chewy, and not too much breading. read more

We decided to hit Union Straw for Sunday brunch before our traditional 10am chuch service. My wife was concerned we wouldn't make it as they opened at 9am. I'm happy to report, we made it with time to spare. Service was quick and the food was served hot. (Huge pet peeve of mine) My wife had Florence Benedict, my daughter had waffles with caramel drizzle, and my son and I had the Blackstone Benedict. My son felt the OJ was a bit off and the server replaced it with grapefruit juice quickly with serveral apologies. He also mentioned the potatoes could use some additional spice, but full disclosure he's a big fan of our family made creole seasoning...he's a bit of spice nut. Suggestions, farm to table options that include community resources would be welcomed...i.e. Crescent Ridge, White Barn Farm, etc. All in all, U.S. sports a rustic but modern decor with a traditional brunch menu that didn't disappoint. Next time I hope to order a mimosa, but perhaps we'll need to hit brunch AFTER church. read more

I was really excited to try this place out, and I was not disappointed. The inside ambiance is great, they did a fantastic job when they redid it. I enjoyed everything I ate, and they had a nice selection of beers as well. The only thing I would say wasn't outstanding were the Parmesan pomme frites. They were good French fries, but didn't taste anything like parmesan. Parking is a little tough as the lot is small. I'd just recommend grabbing street parking if you can. Even on a Thursday night it was very busy, so making a reservation may be a good idea. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

This restaurant is a welcome addition to the neighborhood! It's decor is a great combination of rustic, modern, and pretty minimalist, which is refreshing. A group of four of us went on the second night that they were open, and we were thrilled as how delicious everything was even so close to their initial opening. For apps we ordered the dry rubbed wings (delicious!) and house made potato chips that came with a Dijon sour cream dip. The chips and dip were SO good, but $5 for a small pint glass of potato chips seems pretty steep for maybe one potato's worth of chips. A bowl or basket would be a more appropriate size for the price... not that it stopped us from ordering multiple orders since they were so delicious! For dinner we tried four different things, but some of my favorites were the two flatbreads- the Dubliner and the Sweet and Savory. They were great! Despite prices seeming a bit high, we will definitely be back! read more

Decided to make reservations for my son's birthday dinner after reading all the good reviews. Made 4:30 reservations, and it was perfect timing as the parking lot was still empty as was the restaurant. Things started to pick up once we were leaving around 5:30 and at that point the small parking lot was full. We started with the house chips. My husband and I ordered the shrimp tacos, and my son ordered the chicken and waffles. I will say that the portion sizes were small considering most entrees averaged around $22. My son absolutely loved the chicken and waffles and gave it rave reviews. My husband and I both agreed that the shrimp tacos were bland. The pico de gallo had no flavor, and was more like a pile of halved cherry tomatoes on top of the tacos than any pico de gallo I've ever had. All we got flavor-wise was a strong charred flavor from the tortillas. The shrimp didn't seem to be seasoned and was slightly overcooked. The pico de gallo could use some work as could the cilantro lime crema as it wasn't even noticeable. Pretty disappointed in those tacos. We should've stuck to burgers or something basic. Anyways, the service was great and our server and the hostess were very friendly and welcoming. I loved the ambiance and decor, it was definitely a cozy spot. read more

All the food was great! A bit pricey but taste was excellent!! I'll try again. Thank you!

We recently came here for the 1st time for brunch, we will definitely be back! Sat at the bar, great cocktails and great service! I had the steak and eggs, wife had the chix sandwich with tots. We shared a pear salad which was delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly as well as the eggs. My only gripe was being served on a cutting board instead of a plate, but everything else was perfect. The tater tots were among the best we have ever had, fresh, hot and crispy. Highly recommend! read more

Was traveling in the area on business and turned to Yelp for a recommendation. Good food. Open view makes it somewhat loud. Great service. Limited on street parking

Came to this place on our 2nd date and we ordered the Jackfruit tacos (since I am vegetarian) and we ABSOLUTELY loved them. We were planning on going out tonight and I noticed that they took the tacos off the menu. Oh no! Now I have no options (aside from the flatbread pizza which is kinda lame). PLEASE OH PLEASE bring the tacos back (or at least 1 other vegetarian option for me) ... We loved the food, service and vibe of this place. We are also really good company and great tippers! Not looking for anything serious just the casual Jackfruit taco date. Hope to be reunited with you soon Union Straw ... xoxo read more

I truly wanted to love the place, but nothing quite worked out while we were there. We were introduced to our waitress who said she was new and training on the job, no problems there whatsoever, until we realized the first/ more experienced waitress would not once check on us for the rest of our meal. Our trainee waitress fell short of expectations, took long to serve us and our food was served colder than expected after sitting on the counter for a while before it was served to us. As for their menu, the food was alright. However, I found myself disappointed at the lack of acknowledgement on the menu that one of the dishes we order was extremely spicy. We kept trying to wave our waitress to get more water and a milder sauce and we got very little response from her. I really wish I could have loved this place since I think the ambiance and location had lots of potential. But unfortunately, this is not a place I'd recommend to any of my friends or family members. read more

I made reservations easily online and specified it was for a date and I was running 15 min late which I made sure to call and let them know as 15 min is their max. They were able to take my date and I to the back which was less noisy from the main room and very cozy and romantic with cozy booth seating it felt very intimate and allowed time to really talk to each other w no interruptions. We did arrive around 5:30. They did run out of some of their favorite appetizers such as shrimp cocktail, candied pork belly and Korean cauliflower which of course are all probably the crowd favorites! They did have some nice salads but we were hungry anyway so we went just waited for the entrees. They did not disappoint! My date had the chicken pot pie that had a great flaky crust and meat portions. I had the mini lamb lollipops entree with creamy cheesy mash and glazed brussel sprouts and I cleaned my plate and when I do that you know I'm a happy camper! Oh and the apple cider mule was delicious! Everyone was super friendly, the service was great! I can't wait to come back for brunch! read more

Visited a few weeks ago on a weeknight. We made a reservation in advance and were seated immediately. We ordered the Caramelized Onion and Truffle Mushroom Tart, the Uptown Anthem cocktail, Turducken Burger, Duck Grilled Cheese, and Fried Cheese Curds. We really enjoyed the drinks and the entrees. The tart tasted good, but was a bit of a let down since it didn't seem to have a lot of filling. Service was good, and overall, we had a great experience! read more

It was just great! Ambiance and food made it a great meal. Staff was attentive and menu was fun!

Food was mediocre and overpriced. The carrot cake was priced as $10 and tasted like a grocery bought one. The only highlight was the bacon. Will look for other places if we want BBQ. read more

I see why this place got so many reviews in such a short time. Great first time experience here. Service was on point and the waitress gave some great suggestions. Everything was great but the Pumpkin risotto was out of this world. Already looking forward too coming back. Definitely recommend trying this spot out - you won't be disappointed. read more

Food is always delicious. Servers are nice and friendly. Bartenders are very attentive and keep your drinks filled.

It was my first time at Union Straw. The food was disappointing. The chicken wings were a starter and were ordered "dry rub" which was a big mistake. The blend of spices was NOT a melody of good flavor. The substandard wings (quantity of 8) were small and dry for a whopping price of $14.99. It was like throwing money away into the wind. For the main course was the "Maple Bourbon Burger" which was the size of a hockey puck, cold, and greasy. The toppings were skimpy due to the lack of landscape of the burger. The french fries were also cold and obviously out of a bag from the freezer. The price tag for this subpar meal was $19.00. Honestly, a fast food chain would have been more substantive. I had a Tito's vodka martini with olives which was simply average. The olives were like rubber without pimento so I left them in the glass. I am unfortunately clumsy and knocked over three quarters of the drink with my hand. The camera footage would attest to it. The waiter delivered another drink, but still charged for two drinks. I inquired about the check and the waiter said that he had no way of measuring how much I drank from the first martini that was spilled (which was clearly caught on the camera adjacent from my table.). The waiter very reluctantly consulted with his supervisor who did reverse the charge. Because I was with a friend, I did not have the liberty to express my dissatisfaction to the workers who whizzed by the table inquiring about the taste of the food. I did not want to make my friend uncomfortable, therefore, I have taken my experience to this platform. read more

I have heard many positive things about Union Straw. Finally my husband and I tried it. The atmosphere was great, the service was ok, but I understand that. The food not so great. The fishcake app was super salty and tasted like canned tuna, the pulled chicken was dry, I liked the pork bellies. The sides were ok. Beans were good, Cole slaw ok, corn bread I didn't try. Would we come back? No. read more

Ordered a salad, GF flatbread pizza and a turkey burger, waited 55 minutes to have to ask to have them pack up our food. The tater tots were severely burned, the GF pizza burned and the salad was missing the chicken and soggy. We spent so much for a quick dinner date and food was horrible along with the wait time. We don't get out often and was a great place to go not so much anymore, sad as there aren't many options to choose from. The icing on the cake was a cocktail ordered and wasn't what was asked for. read more

Excellent ambience, great food. Everything is made from scratch, down to the ketchup. And it shows. We went for breakfast, and had the homemade hash - it was great. Great Pub food, atmosphere, and service. The rest not so much. I find myself really torn over this review. Union Straw probably has the best food within a 15 mile radius. And some of the best BBQ in New England. But these aren't exactly staggering achievements. On the extraordinarily positive side the house potato chips and cheese curds were out of this world. And the BBQ, burger and bone-in wings were quite good. But my daughter made the mistake of ordering pasta at a pub - never a good idea. My wife had a pork special that was just OK. And the only flavorful part of the watermelon salad was the balsamic glaze - and that was too sweet. The featured cocktails were fantastic - I had an old fashioned and my wife a paloma. And the beer and cider were quite good as well. The service was excellent and the atmosphere wonderful - outdoor dining with heaters. But if we had it to do all over again we would avoid the entrees and pick ourselves a five star meal. read more
