My Niece's Wedding & Reception, 6/28/2025. Over-the-top Wedding and Reception. So much planning and coordination, guidance. Everyone is so pleasant. A truly beautiful venue. Our son and daughter-in-law were married in the Roosevelt Room last weekend. It was fantastic! Neil and his team did a wonderful job and the day went off without a hitch. We recently held a wedding rehearsal dinner at the restaurant. It was to say the least very underwhelming. We were told the space was a loft to the Tunnel Bar. In fact it was the foyer to both the restaurant and the tunnel bar. The pictures are extremely misleading. You definitely should visit the space to get an accurate view of the space. We had a party of 29 people. There was one server and server in training (bus boy). They were unprofessional. The bar service was unprepared and you will not get the same cocktails that are in the tunnel bar. All the food was unevenly cooked and not served hot. We provided them with specifics for the menu. It was clear the information was not followed in either the kitchen or the wait staff. Coffee and cream was not available only Decaf with packets of sugar and cream container thrown on table like diner. There are many other details that could be written into this review and have been to the attention of the management of the restaurant. If you are considering using this restaurant be very cautious. I have a number of positive reviews but I would that our experience was disappointing and embarrassing. read more

Union Station provided everything we wanted in a wedding venue and then some! We were looking for a unique venue that had great architectural character, which we found here. Included with the package we selected were our floral centerpieces and our wedding cake, which made our planning even easier. We got married in Amherst a couple days ago. We decided to have our wedding at the Inn on Boltwood so we could have accommodations the night of/on site. However, we wanted to venture out for the rehearsal dinner. We looked around extensively in the Amherst/Northampton area and eventually decided on the Union Station for our rehearsal dinner. This was hands down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. First, Neil, the Event Director, was SO responsive even though we were only hosting our rehearsal dinner with them. We ended up selecting the premium plated dinner for approximately 30 guests. The Union Station does not currently have fee to rent their space for the dinners, which made it far more affordable than the competition. The price was right, and the food quality was phenomenal. The Union Station food lived up to all the reviews. We also did not want to do a full open bar, but Neil gave us other options that allowed us to host some of the bar tab (we had 2 bottles of wine per table). For appetizers, we had the cheese/veggie/fruit platter (guests raved about the quality of the fruit). We had passed apps of bacon wrapped dates with manchego cheese, cauliflower risotto balls, and steak on a crostini. Each app, recommended by Neil, were AMAZING. We chose to have the salmon and beef tenderloin for the main courses, as well as the pesto ravioli as our vegetarian option. I had the salmon and it was PERFECT. As a side, we chose the caramelized potato gratin and broccolini. The beef tenderloin was so perfect and cooked just right. Everyone LOVED their meals, especially us. We finished with the seasonal cheesecake (strawberry topped). Throughout our wedding and honeymoon, we kept talking about how much we loved the food at Union Station. Lastly, the room was decorated so perfectly and the staff were SUPER accommodating and took such good care of our guests. I would go out of my way to host an event here again just to eat the food. read more

We cannot say enough good things about Neil and the team at Union Station Banquets. The main takeaway is this: Union Station allowed us to have the full vision of our wedding become a reality, and in a financially practical way. From the first meeting, Neil was completely welcoming and unassuming. Any time we met in person, Neil was as excited to plan the details of our wedding as we were. If we emailed, he was always responsive within a day and answered our questions directly. Compared to other places where that was "an additional offering" or "couldn't be done in this package," we never felt like we had to keep our wants close to the vest out of fear that we would get pushed into spending more money. If it was doable at a cost we could afford, it was done, and if it wasn't, there was no problem moving on without it. Neil truly wanted us to have a wedding that was everything we wanted and nothing we didn't. He offered his suggestions and ideas, but never put pressure on us to include something and we never felt like we had to "bite the bullet" on any decision. At one point during our tasting, we had asked for a late night snack menu and Neil said "the staff is really excited to work with your menu" and it genuinely felt that they were as much a part of our planning as we were. The banquet hall itself is a beautiful, cool, early 20th century aesthetic that is attractive on its own, but also presents plenty of opportunities to be personalized. There is an obvious travel aesthetic with the space, but with the open brick and brass bar, the turn-of-the-century advertising around that space, old, recessed ticket windows turned to mirrors, and a huge fireplace, the space welcomes any variety of themes you might have in mind. Even for us, we included elements related to trains and to breweries, and the space allowed for those two ideas to marry together well. We would be remiss if we didn't also thank our Lead Bartender, Rob. He was amazing, both attentive and intuitive. We were never going to be the couple who "forgot to eat" at their own wedding, but without ever saying that, Rob was always available to us first with hors d'oeuvres. Three things we loved about Rob -- aside from just what a wonderful and enthusiastic person he seemed to be -- included, when we were first taking photos around the venue, he found us outside before our time together had even started and he brought us water while we were outside on a 98 degree day. Similarly, he was always around us with appetizers and drinks at the ready, but he also never made our guests feel out of place. Of course he brought us appetizers first and looked to us first, but we've been at weddings where that tray was withheld from guests because it was "for the bride and groom." He never shut anyone down if they grabbed for that tray, which is exactly what we would have asked of him. Finally, on the only stressful moment of our day, he recognized that we were maybe feeling overwhelmed by the attention of our guests and, without interrupting, took it upon himself to find us and bring fresh drinks. He was the person we engaged with the most directly, but so many of our guests applauded the service of the staff at the bar and on the floor. They were all amazing Beyond all of this, planning extra flourishes was so easy, due in part to the proximity of Union Station to other cool spaces in the same building and in downtown Northampton, but also because of the relationships Neil has built with other vendors in the Northampton community. Obviously it took meticulous planning, but by the time we got to Northampton to the time we left, everything we had planned went without issue the entire weekend. The team at Union Station was completely unexpected. In an overwhelming industry dominated by fixed, generic, overpriced, wedding packages that make you feel hamstrung, Union Station Banquets was everything you wish you could have for your wedding and we can't thank them enough or recommend them highly enough. read more

Neil and the staff at Union Station Banquets were beyond amazing. They were so helpful during our year and a half long engagement and planning process. The weekend of our wedding we weren't worried about a thing because we knew we were in good hands with them. The day of coordination went smoothly and we didn't have any hiccups or issues. The servers and bar staff were polite professional and extremely helpful. We received many compliments throughout the night and the days to follow on how good the service was and how everyone enjoyed the delicious food. We had several people with dietary restrictions and food allergies and everyone was able to eat and enjoy their meals. I attended an organization's formals with over 100 guests in April. The venue was very beautiful and had that rustic vibe with the high ceilings, large old-fashioned clocks, a fireplace, and its old train station theme. They had a piano in one of the smaller sections of the venue that was perfect for photos! We had an open bar and the drinks tasted excellent. We had the buffet style for dinner which included caesar salads, bread, brussels sprouts, steak tips, chicken, mashed potatoes, and fruit. The food including the dessert was overall average in my opinion. Nevertheless, the space was a great choice for our event and I had a pleasant time! read more

We had our wedding reception at Union Station on August 11th, 2018. Everything about the experience was perfect and the staff went way above and beyond to give me the best day possible. Corey, the event manager, was helpful and organized from the very beginning. He kept everything running smoothly, was generous with the station/open bar policies when he didn't need to be, and personally drove my grandparents to their hotel in the rain when our shuttle service did not show up. The food was excellent and the venue was beautiful. I cannot recommend them enough. I just had my wedding at Union Station and couldn't have been happier with our venue choice. The food was delicious and we love the space! There was about 140 people at our wedding and we had plenty of space (17 tables and we sat at a sweetheart table). Steve was excellent to work with. He was very accommodating, relaxed, and professional. We appreciate everything that he did for us- he was there that night and made sure we always had everything that we needed. They let us make our own centerpieces and add to their decorations, they even hung some lights for us. We were able to get into the room the day before to set up which was really nice. The bar and wait staff were also excellent. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone!! read more

There was everything from omelet and carving stations, shrimp, salads, traditional breakfast foods, pasta salads and a variety of amazing desserts. I was treated to a Birthday dinner, at Union Station recently. My companions who invited me, were regular customers. For me, the Birthday dinner was my first visit. The decor inside was rustic, yet elegant. The large dining room features lots of wood paneling, high ceilings, and even a big fireplace. My Birthday is during the Christmas season, in mid-December. And so the place was all decked-out with holiday decorations, including a Christmas tree. I thought that was a nice touch. We all decided to get a table by the fireplace, which was warm and cheery. The friendly waitress, quickly brought us some baskets of warm rolls and butter. We noshed on those, while we decided what to order. The rolls were good, but not extraordinary. We also ordered drinks. They enjoyed some wine. I went whole-hog, and ordered a small bottle of Champaign. It was bubbly, refreshing, and had a nice tart finish. They have a generous salad bar, and you can also have soup with your meal. I ordered French Onion soup, which arrived piping hot. The steaming broth came chocked-full of rich, carmelized onions. It was topped-off with crusty croutons, which were blanketed with creamy, melted Mozzerella cheese. It was a marvelous taste treat. For my main Entree, I decided on the salmon and Filet Minon plate. The salmon was grilled, and had a fresh, bright flavor. It was tender, flaky, and subtly seasoned with garlic and herbs. I ordered the Filet Minon cooked medium-well. I could taste a hint of olive-oil, which they must have sauteed the steak in. When I cut into it, it was slightly pink in the center, and fork-tender. It was succulent with juices, and melted in my mouth. I really enjoyed every bite! The side dishes that came with it, were garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies. The veggies tasted a bit bland, but they were crisp. The garlic mashed potatoes were infused with savory, chopped garlic. They were fluffy, yet filling. Just like mashed potatoes should be. I was really too full for dessert. But I wanted to try something. So, I split a whopping slice of warm apple pie, with my companions. It came topped with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The waitress even put a lit Birthday candle on it, which was very thoughtful of her. My dining experience at Union Station, was wonderful. I intend to go back, when I get a chance. They have another restaurant inside, called Spaghetti Freddy's. I'll plan on eating there, next time I go. I recommend Union Station, for those that want quality food, great service, and a congenial dining atmosphere. read more

Called in to get some pricing information about hosting a large birthday party there. Left a message. Two days later a woman named Alice finally called me back. I wouldn't have had a problem with the delayed response if it wasn't for the attitude I received. She was condescending and rude. I ended up just declining further information and removing myself from the conversation. However, as someone who works in customer service and sales I was shocked.
