Our server was nice and friendly. We placed our orders fast. I got the chicken philly and fries but also ordered sweet potato fries as an appetizer. The fries came out fast and the group loved them. They were fresh, hot and flavorful. Some of the best I have had. Then our food came out. I thought I may have to add something to my meal,but it was seasoned just right. It was one of the best chicken philly sandwiches that I have had in a long time. The fries were good too. I really enjoyed this meal. I would definitely return. Service was good. This is my go to bar. Few blocks from my house, walking distance and open till 2am! Food is pretty consistent. I love the buffalo wings! They are cooked to perfection and I always ask for only drum sticks, extra crispy and they oblige. They are a bar but their kitchen cooks up some mean wings and great chicken Cesar salad. At least once a week I go here just for the salad. You get the entire stalk of the Romain but they charr it for added flavor before serving. They have daily happy hour specials and during the holiday season they carried Trongs mad elf on draft. I was soooo excited about this and to share the love for that beer when family came over to visit. It was a little piece of Ny! Other thing I really love about this place is that they are very neighborhood friendly. They often have many specials if there are special events like Super Bowl, New Years, olympics, of professional football. They also play soccer which is cool because not a lot of bars offer this. Oh yes, they even gave furlough specials when the govt shut down! The place is huge and has two bars. One is bigger than the other but the service is great on both. They offer unlimited boozie brunch that I haven't partaked on yet. But it's on my list. They play great music, and it varies. Some days it's top hits, other 90's music and other times hip hop yay! Everyone at the table has to pay for bottomless regardless of if they drink and good luck getting a refill if you do drink. Got food poisoning here earlier this year. Wings were undercooked but they said the kitchen was closed so they couldn't make new ones. I was throwing up all night after stomach pain. Ended up almost passing out, had to go to the emergency room. Came here for their happy hour on Tuesday. There's a great outdoor area with pretty ample seating, even if you're coming in a big group. Their Tuesday Happy Hour drink specials were okay ($6 for well drinks, $13 bud light pitcher, $4.50 select bourbons, $4.50 Belgian bottles), but would have loved to see more beer specials or even a wine special, as well as a food special. Additionally, there wasn't a happy hour menu provided. However, the drink specials change daily, and the nice thing is that it's happy hour from 5 pm to close Monday-Friday. Service was pretty slow, even though we had 4 different servers attend to us. Food: Options were decent - my favorite was the cheese curds (would DEFINITELY order these again), and my least favorite by far was the spicy chicken quesadilla (having lived in both Mexico and Texas, it was definitely neither Mexican nor Tex-Mex). Other things we tried: -Fried pickles: more pickle than fry, and not too greasy -Crab cake sandwich: the tater tots were excellent and come with a homemade ranch (which wasn't as creamy as I like usually), and the crab cake was decent but have had better crab cakes -Buffalo chicken wrap: again, tots were excellent. The wrap tasted solid but fell apart almost immediately. Verdict: It's close to work so I will probably return for a happy hour at some point since the food and drinks were decent, and the hours for the happy hour are great, but probably wouldn't make the trip if was further away. read more

Nothing like sitting outside on a fine day in the evening enjoying your hops. As Bar food goes - this place is as good as any other for veggie bar food. Though they do have a good selection on tap and they try and change their offerings. On this particular (after a long) day we enjoyed their "ways and means" IPA (btw, still searching for "filibuster" and "gridlock" beers) and it was hoppy and yummy. Though on one of my earlier visit here, we tried their Nachos (sans meat - they really don't have veggie nachos per se) and it does look and taste like a "gridlock". Not the best, even by the bar standards. It's a neighborhood (big) place so don't expect a lot of quiet during the happy hoppy hours. Union Pub is part dive bar, part sports bar, & part pub lunch destination. Somehow it manages to do all three pretty successfully. Here you'll find a hunting video game, multiple tvs, a jukebox, 2 full bars, not-so-clean bathrooms, HH specials and the main thing I come for...loud Bears fans. (I believe it's also a FSU bar if that's your team). But hey, you're not coming here for a 5 star experience so it is it's not a bad place just not over the top amazing either. If you live over 10 miles, I wouldn't make the trek unless you're a die hard Bears or FSU fan BUT if you live or work nearby, go grab a beer. I was in DC on Saturday with another human and a dog and was looking for a place where the three of us could grab a drink -- so glad we stumbled upon Union Pub! We called ahead to make sure that my pup wouldn't have a problem getting in and to ask about the Happy Hour deals. Dogs were indeed welcome (which matched what we saw online) and there were a variety of daytime HH special -- $5 rails, $3 beers, $10 buckets. We were sold. We settled at an empty table at the patio on what was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Our waiter greeted us with 2 waters and a nice bowl of water for the pup -- what a nice gesture! Throughout our afternoon, our water was truly top notch. Checked in on us thoroughly and made sure our drinks were always full. We just relaxed for a while and sipped on rum and cokes and Frose's. Frose's are this wonderful lemonade/citrus based slushy cocktail -- I had a little taste and it was great! We eventually decided to get a couple of appetizers; we went with the dry rub cajun wings and a big side of tater tots. Both dishes were great! The food unfortunately did take quite a while to come out -- apparently there was a mixup in the kitchen and our food was mistakenly delivered to another table. Once the mistake was realized (the waiter figured out that something was wrong due to the wait before we brought it up) our order was resubmitted -- within 10 minutes we were chomping at the fresh grub. Always appreciate a tentative, apologetic waiter when something goes awry! The ambiance was really great -- the outdoor patio had multiple large TV's which were used to project different sports games. There were many other patrons on the patio, a few of which brought dogs of their own. Definitely recommend this spot for a Saturday happy hour! read more

Union Pub is one of the first pubs I've visited since moving here. My friends and I didn't have to wait too long, as we came here at around 5 when work was just ending. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. First things first - the service. I think my server was professional, but she took a while to get our orders and everything else that came along with it. I felt like I was sitting there with the menu off to the side for quite a while, and believe me - I was getting slightly hangry. I ordered the cheese curds for the table, and got myself the Thai Chili Wings. My s/o got the Angus sliders. All of these were really good. For a Canadian born American, I was very happy about these cheese curds - I was a little skeptical about the price, but then realized how much they actually gave for the table. I was really happy about it. The Thai Chili Wings had the perfect amount of sweet and heat - let me tell you, I did not look pretty eating these (but then again, who looks attractive while eating wings? You're just doing it wrong at that point). The Angus sliders were cooked to my s/o's perfection. They were pretty delicious as well! The one complaint I would have is the price of soft drinks. $3 for a soda to me is a little much, but then again, I do appreciate the free refills (when the server came along, that is). read more

I'm a huge fan of this establishment. Have been here probably once or twice a month over the past year. I love this place! Today, however, I was so disrespected I wanted to walk out. Our server, a Caucasian man with dark hair and forearm tattoos and a gem around his neck, was extremely rude to my visiting mother and brother when he didn't understand if we wanted the "wings and fries" option or if we wanted "wings" and "fries" (two separate things). After explaining it, I apologized to my brother and explained that the wings and explained that the wings and fries phenomenon was a little complicated. The waiter then BUTTS IN to tell me it's not complicated at all. I then laugh and say it was more complicated than it needs to be, and he doubles down that it wasn't complicated. I came here with a group of friends to celebrate or cry over the 2018 midterm elections (so DC I know haha). Normally, there seems like there would be tons of space to move around. There's a large room with multiple TVs and a bar in the front, an equally large side room with TVs and a bar, and then a patio with TVs and a bar. But tonight it was packed with Hill staffers and students. The crowd here seems to be a little bit on the younger and rowdier side so prepare for that. Drinks are really cheap! They were running a special with buckets of Budweiser or Bud Light for $12. They also had really cute themed drinks such as the blue wave and red wave. Mixed drinks were around $5 each for well drinks. Food is also surprisingly good! We ordered the wings and it came out really quickly even with how crowded it was. We sat outside on the patio and tried the following food: - Totchos: grilled chicken and avocado over cheesy tater tots. So like nachos but with tots! Loooved this. - Sweet potato fries: YUM, perfectly crisp and to make it better, these were served with sriracha mayo - oooo yeaaaahh - BBQ Pork nachos: chips were too thin and pork was kind of weird, felt like it came out of a can, so I'd pass on this next time - Crab dip: had one bite of this and didn't care too much for it. It came with a side of toasted bread. I think pretzel bread would've made this dish better, but that's a personal preference! I ordered a chicken wrap which was delicious until I got to the other side of the sandwich & it was all south from there. I can't explain what it tasted like & why on earth one side would be yummy & the other side like garbage in a spinach wrap.
