I always make sure to stop by whenever I'm in Frederick. The ambiance is like a dim light basement, a clean and moody aesthetic with bar seating and couch seating. It does get loud in there and I think that's because the sound of everyone's voice just bounces against too many hard surfaces. Nonetheless it's super cozy and my favorite spot!! The drinks are all fantastic. They make their own organic distilled liquor and on top of that they away have seasonal drink selections. I go there wanting the same drink but also try something new and it never disappoints! They craft their cocktails with love and care and really put effort into a delicious well rounded cocktail. This is my go to spot for gin, I'm not even a gin drinker but I am now because their gin is amazingly smooth. I can't say enough great things!

What started as a burned-down building in need of repair was turned into an amazing outdoor space that feels natural, intimate and inviting for small events. From comedy to poetry readings, yoga, to art - this space is really special and if you're in the Frederick area it's worth checking out. There's plenty of free or low-cost parking nearby and it's also around the corner from great restaurants and Carroll Creek so the location couldn't be better.

Wandering around Frederick, I walked inside a historic house to find exhibits set up by one of the…read moreoldest historical societies in the country. Two friendly women greeted me and encouraged me to buy a $12 ticket to visit. The bottom floor takes visitors through several rooms of art and history of Frederick County. Upstairs are exhibits about the actual house and a few other topics. Outside is a garden that hosts events. I learned a lot about the area and saw art and photos about life back in the day. I also appreciated that the exhibit acknowledges that the house had owners that once enslaved people. Rather than ignoring it, they call it out.

Starters and entrees came out very close to each other which wasn't a bad thing. We also added a margherita pizza to share which looked weird - but tasted great. Nice crisp to the crust and thin. I usually think of a doughier crust with this kind of pizza but still good. Dessert was the fudge cake - rich in flavor, adding a coffee. Overall - would have loved to sit inside and get that experience but still good considering we didn't have a reservation.
