The space can be rented either the entire day or for 1 of the 2 shifts (we rented 3pm-8pm). I would highly recommend this space for small parties in the Overland Park area!

I expected to load up on those for the evening, but I decided to try the famous Kansas City rubs I had heard so much about. BAM! I get it now! These ribs put every BBQ rib I have had before now to shame. My tastebuds now understand what ribs should taste like. It was a magical cross between perfection and awesome. I was excited to go with my wife and parents to see The Truetones as my mom is a huge Beatles fan. I underestimated how much it would fill up so we stood up near the stage. Though we would not have expected this, Aztec's staff was very kind to offer us any available seats. I do wish there was more standing room available and I wish there was a larger variety of music that played here. However, the classic rock cover bands I've seen here put on a GREAT show. I'm glad to have this place in my local community.

I have been in hundreds of museums since that is my background and I never dreamed I would run into an issue of the museum not having a wheelchair. The wheelchair they had was flimsy and had to be pushed by another person. If you were disabled, you cannot go through the museum with a wheelchair at your own leisure. These are the things a museum decides before they even build the building. I couldn't even use their Scooter for a walker. So if you are disabled, you'll have to bring somebody to push you around in that silly so-called wheelchair. I was profoundly disappointed and the museum really needs to address this. I've been to museums all over the world and never once have I had this issue. I also didn't think I have this issue in Johnson County. Review your accessibility issue and that should've been done a long time ago. I won't return and I certainly won't be taking kids back.

Due to the natural beauty of the barns interior, we didn't have to do a lot of decorating. We couldn't have been happier choosing this location for a new chapter in our lives. They also allow your own vendors for your event which is now to have that flexibility. There are few requirements that differ from other venues as this place is a registered historical site, but they are nothing major or very costly that makes or breaks your event. As a heads up, this place is rented out hourly so it's challenging to decorate for a wedding the same day of the event, but it can be done! We highly recommend this place!

The facility offers meeting and wedding space for up to 200ppl and can be booked through the City of Lenexa which keeps the cost affordable.We booked the wedding on a Friday evening which saved even more costs. Saturday weddings book a year out so you'll need to contact them early or camp out to book a spot with the City. Many images can be googled online to show you the facility's offerings. We didn't need to do much for decor as the facility is so clean and classy with brick walls, exposed beam ceiling in the main hall, a full kitchen, meeting rooms for the wedding party to get ready etc. An outdoor courtyard can be used for the ceremony also although it's along I-35 for traffic noise. We did experience problems with the set up, AV equipment and evening staffing but these issues were addressed satisfactorily when we brought them up to management. We'd definitely recommend this air conditioned barn to any bride and groom.

At BRKTHROUGH, you compete in challenge rooms (there are 40 of them, although a couple were unavailable during our visit) - they last a minute or longer, and are categorized as Physical (requiring speed, agility, coordination, etc), Mental (brainpower, trivia, memory, and puzzle-solving), or Skill (precision, dexterity, patience). The descriptors above came from the BRKTHROUGH website, but I can confirm that they are descriptive of the challenges. The room type/difficulty is shown on a triangle, so they are often a combination of two items (for example, mostly physical with some skill-based components). Every room is scored based on your completion (or lack, thereof) out of 100 points. You can redo rooms as often as you like, keeping the highest score. Your team has an RFID wristband to enter the rooms. Your goal is to earn as many points as you can during the time period you paid for (we did 2 hours). Not only do you try to get your best score, there is a leaderboard to show how you are doing against the other teams in the building. You can earn a prize if you obtain a certain minimum score, or win against the other groups. Other than the boys arguing over strategies, we had a good time. Even with young kids, we were able to complete a lot of the rooms. There are plenty of rooms that could be completed by those with physical limitations, but obviously not all of them. We had a good time and the time flew by. There is also a bar and restaurant and a few games to play after your time is up. There are a handful of rooms each time that seem to malfunction. We were told we'd have a final meeting closer to the date to discuss layouts & finer details. That was never scheduled. We had to drive down to the venue to get answers. On the day of, they were not prepared for our event. The tables and chairs were not set up, our decorator couldnt even start setting up when she got there. They did not take responsibility for this at all and were very rude when we asked why the room was not set up at the time they said it would be. The space was also not cleaned properly. I had to ask for floors to be mopped. The bridal suite had food on the floors and carpets. There were also a pair of dirty socks in one of the rooms. The bathroom did not have a doorknob, and they also did not stock and toilet paper in the bathroom. There were also many issues with communicating with staff. We asked that the a/c be turned up so it would he cool enough for our guests, and the owner made a rude comment about his electric bill. During our event, it got so hot, our guests were using napkins to fan themselves. There were many issues with the sound system and microphones. Guests couldnt hear the speeches. No help was offered from staff. To top it all off, they started setting up for another event during our reserved time. The worst part of it all is that they never to accountability. The only made excuses and further put the blame on us.

We had a lovely tour of J. Rieger distillery today. Joe was our tour guide. He was amazing!…read more The tour started with a 10 minute movie about the history of KC, the distillery and older businesses. The tour was full of interesting information and history. We enjoyed the details and descriptions of the distillery operations. The rick house was impressive. We finished with a tasting of four spirits. The vodka, gin, Kansas City whiskey and coffee liqueur. All were excellent. J. Rieger is the top distillery in the metro, for sure. Highest quality. They even have a spiral slide from the restaurant down to the bottom floor. We enjoyed the tasting room and cocktails outside where we could hear music from Knuckleheads next door. We'd go again and bring more people. So much fun!!
