I have had 2 experiences here, the first one was absolutely awful, we were sat at a table for Sunday supper and the plates on the table had pea sized food bits dried to them I waited 30 minutes for a server who never even brought us water , I told the person that delivered our waters and first plate of food (not our server) and they said they would tell our server and have the plates swapped , I waited 15 more minutes and decided to scrape the dried food off and use the plate anyway. we saw our server 2 more times the rest of our time there and those 2 times she quickly dropped off our cocktails and the other time food and left before we could say anything. the food was lack luster, service was terrible. second time the food was outstanding however again terrible service ... waited 15 -30 each time we saw our server and the server kept stating that he would be right back with our drinks 3 separate times before he actually came back with them. this server even offered us the daily special for an appetizer, 2 entrees and a desert and then proceeded to charge full price for it anyway. I will not be going back to this restaurant until the service gets better. read more

Love the food, the ambiance, and the cocktails. Chef T's menu changes by the month or season and she keeps it fresh with new menu items. The servers are very kind and attentive. If you're reading this, go make a reservation. You won't be disappointed. read more

Fantastic food, painfully slow service. The ambiance is appealing. It's a loud but fun environment featuring an open kitchen. The food was outstanding. Everything we tried was unique and well executed. Unfortunately the food doesn't outweigh the service. We were seated and unable to place a drink order for 30 mins. The times we saw the server were few and far between. Our second drink order was totally forgotten. The staff was noticeably busy so the poor service is more likely due to understaffing than lack of trying. I hope to return in the future but have no desire to any time soon if the service remains so slow. Disappointed but hopeful for improvement for a place with so much potential read more

I ate here today for the first time and I'm already planning my next visit! One of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The flavors were unique and delicious! I went for Sunday lunch. I had a breakfast burrito, which sounds boring, but was anything but. Next time I will probably split an order with someone because it was so much food. read more

We had been looking forward to trying out this new restaurant and we were not disappointed! VERY busy, which is great! We had to wait and have a drink at the bar for a few minutes for our table, due to the previous party enjoying themselves. Not a bad thing. We started off with shrimp hush puppies. Giant fried shrimp and yummy hush puppies. They ran out of catfish and substituted red snapper....oh my it was fabulous! Served with coconut rice and shrimp etouffee and fried okra shavings. Hubby loved the side of plantains. Our service was great despite them being busy. Hunter took excellent care of us. We traveled 45 minutes to see "T" in her zone and can't wait to come back and try brunch or Sunday dinner...and the seafood platter! Being someone who enjoys cooking, it was a pleasure to see T enjoying herself, "smiling and laughing with her staff", while preparing so many amazing meals for everyone. Sitting at the bar next to some poor fellow smashing his hand over and over while trying to open oysters was the most grotesque and repulsive restaurant experience I have ever had. If I ever go again, I'll try the table seating. Also, the service was very slow, as if they were understaffed which is common. Dined with my wife on a Saturday night. Shabby interior, loud, smoky (from an inadequate range hood), OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced cocktails, and mediocre food. Ordered oysters with a lemon mignonette, oysters were improperly shucked and had no mignonette. They gave you Tobasco in a plastic package like ketchup from McDonalds. Ordered the roti with chicken. That was palatable. Didn't stay for entrees. Not good. Go somewhere else. read more

Make reservations for a Friday, 7PM seating. It was crazy busy but we were seated 20 past 7 so not bad. Very loud as the kitchen and large bar area are open to dining. Our appetizer came the same time as the main course. Crab Beignets and I was disappointed as they didn't look like beignets but had a fair amount of crab. I ordered pork belly ( A pig x 3 sisters) and it was a very tasty and filling dish. read more

Food and atmosphere excellent. Service was terrible. We had been warned by others who had eaten there previously that service was terrible. However, we were shocked that no server had even spoken to us 30 minutes after being seated. We were about to leave when the hostess saw what was happening and served us herself for the rest of the evening. It's a shame that service is lacking. Chef T serves delicious and innovative foods. She has also worked very hard to renovate the old bus station where Union 41 is located. At this level, one expects to be welcomed warmly by server quickly after being seated. One also expects server to be attentive and to meet diners needs frequently during meal. Poor (or in our case, no service until hostess stepped up) service colors the whole experience. read more

We had reservations at 6:45 on a Saturday evening. The first thing we noticed upon stepping inside was the noise level. The restaurant boasts an open kitchen which contributed to that as well as all the chatter of the happy clientele. After about 5-10 minutes we were shown to a table. Our waiter was super busy with several tables but eventually did get to us. The place was hopping! We ordered the crab beignets which will now be our favorite appetizer as well as the catfish and jerk chicken. All was delicious and topped off with a banana pudding for dessert. They were very good about bringing out the courses in good timing.Love that they have this in Bristol and Chef T does an excellent job. I will never be undecided on "what do you want to eat?" EVER again. I am honestly shocked that something this fabulous is in Bristol. The service was amazing, the food I can't even put into words. We went to union 41 on Thursday the 21 of Dec to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were looking foward to it based on their reviews and advertisements, but boy were we surprised. The food was only slightly warm and most of it was not edible. The waiter told us the steak was the best around, he asked us how we wanted it cooked and we said med rare, also ordered the snapper, when the " steak came out it was brisket cold and well done with Brussel sprouts that were black and hard, the snapper was very over cooked and hard to cut even with a knife we sent the snapper back and the next one was even worse we questioned the steak saying it was brisket but the assured us it was their finest steak and reminded us that we were eating at a fine dining establishment and that quality of food was a little different. We are retired and in our 60's so we have and actually prefer fine dining, but this was anything but.we than wrote a review which we don't usually do but to maybe help others. The next day chef t reached out and wanted to contact us to discuss our experience. We gave ger our contact info. She called my wife rather quickly and spent the next 15 minutes yelling at my wife and berating her, then she said she would be refunding our meal, my wife was in tears.we never expected the owner of a resturant to treat anybody like that or act like we were the problem. We only wanted a nice meal, if you are ever going to go to union 41 in bristol don't expect much and definitely don't let them know how you feel or have really thick skin, I sincerely hope they get their act toghether before it is too late. We went once never again by the way its been 5 days and still no refund , do beware of this establishment and beware of chef t as she is quite good at customer satisfaction. read more

I was so looking forward to this experience. It was a belated Fathers Day celebration, because we all had to work on Sunday. So excited Bristol had embraced more interesting cuisine. Service started out pretty good, but drinks were sub par. My Moscow Mule was served in a rocks glass with what I "think" was flat ginger beer. Not good at all. But very pricey. My espresso martini was equally uninspired, and served in a champagne glass. We ordered appetizers, so excited for our food; talked to patrons about how awesome their food was. After 40 minutes, and watching the chef literally "throw" amazing dishes out of the kitchen, had to ask our server if our appetizers were coming. Mind you, server never took entree order during this time, or explained why everyone was getting their food rather quickly, but we were sitting waiting, waiting, waiting. Bartender offered apologies, but skirted my question about whether our appetizer order was ever entered. Final disappointment was lack luster "caviar experience" ( I've had better cheap caviar rinsed in cheap vodka! and chef's utter denial that anything was wrong. I SO WANTED TO LOVE THIS PLACE. Ruined Fathers Day. Back to 620 for me. Crab beignets and oysters Rockefeller were very nice, but not amazing. So sad. read more

Been here a few times and it keeps getting better! First couple of times, we had reservations on a Sat w family and friends. Much too loud and smoky! The noise really carries and makes it difficult to talk. But, the food was great. Ham and cheese appetizer, picanha beef (little tough, imo), catfish, oxtail ramen, birria tacos were all delicious but we didn't feel like we found 'our' dish...you know, the one that keeps you coming back. Drinks are unique and well done. Last couple of visits, we went one weekdays and sat at the counter. That makes all the difference! Less crowded and noisy, not as smoky and overall, a much better experience. You can talk to the chefs and, sometimes, they'll bring you bread or a free small appetizer. My fave dish is the jerk chicken...little heat, nicely done chicken and rice but the plantains! Those are the star. My husband likes the Szechuan duck but the spiciness varies. Sometimes, it really has a kick and others, it's mild. Banana pudding is deconstructed and wonderful. The hushpuppies and shrimp is the best appetizer. We will keep going to Union 41 and look forward to new menus. read more
