Accidentally bought the wrong Bigen color noticing it wasn't the same as the last product I bought once I got home so it was completely unopened. Thinking I could just return to the store and do an even swap out they told me no exchanges or returns. Unfortunately I bought the product again this time the right one so I took a lost for a simple mistake. What sucks is a thought I found a new local spot to support but after this I'll just go back to Walmart and support a chain knowing something like this would have been easily fixed without question. This is the only beauty supply store in Long Beach that I travel to. It's the only one in my opinion with the most variety of braiding hair. Every single worker I've come across there greets me or is super pleasant when ringing me up. It's in a plaza but I've never had trouble with parking. The store is pretty organized. I was pleasantly greeted when my boyfriend and myself entered the establishment today; however, after spending approximately 10 minutes looking for my items, a worker approaches me and offers me a basket, and stands 4 feet away watching us as we shop. After accepting the basket, the worker asks me if I need help looking for anything and points me in the direction of the lipgloss of my liking. The worker then proceeds to stand in front of the exit insinuating that we'd steal??? I was beyond polite, and I regularly came to this beauty supply to shop. Nonetheless, the friendly taller lady was not working today. With that being said, I don't recommend shopping here if you're a black girl who runs to the hair store without makeup and in workout shorts. I am well aware of theft being a ubiquitous problem that requires extensive prevention methods; however, when your techniques make your customers feel blatantly disrespected and make them take their business elsewhere, I'd consider rethinking those methods. read more

Found this beauty supply on Yelp. Once I entered into store, I was pleasantly greeted by employees up front. I went to the section I was looking for and didn't find what I wanted. I was on my way out and was asked if I found everything ok and my response was no. I was asked what I was looking for and I showed a photo of the product. I was told they had a few in the back and was shown what they had. They actually had something similar to what I was looking for so I bought it. So my family has been coming to this place for years and they've always seemed pleasant. They always seemed a little on the pricey side which I now have an explanation for, but we like to stay loyal and support local businesses that have good customer service. On this particular day, I went and got about $50 worth of merchandise. All I had on me was a Credit Card. I go to checkout and the old lady scans all of my stuff. She then tells me the total and I pull out my Credit Card. Before she even grabbed it out of my hands she asked me if it was a Credit Card, so obviously I said yes. After I say yes she grabs my card & places the chip inside the slot to make the purchase. She has the card reader behind the counter so she gets to do the transaction. After she inserts my chip in the card reader the transaction goes through. I have it set up to where I instantly get receipts on my phone everytime a purchase. Not to mention, from where I'm standing I can see that the transaction went through successfully. This is where it gets grimey asf. After allll of this, this lady asks me if I have my I.D. I say no. She then tells me she can't do the transaction unless I have my I.D. and do I have another way to pay. WHAT? Why would you do the transaction without even asking me for my I.D. if you know the store policy is to ask for I.D. with credit card purchases. Then to ask me if I had another way to pay as if the transaction didn't go through. She doesn't know I can see on my phone and on her card reader that it went through. So I ask her "Why would I pay you for my stuff twice?". She then reaches over the counter, and slides all my stuff towards her and holds it as if the stuff isn't paid for and as if I'm gonna snatch it and run out. Disgusting. She then yells for the younger, taller, skinny lady from the back. By this time I'm looking for a picture of my I.D. on my phone because I have nothing to hide lol it's my fucking credit card I don't need to scam for $50 fucking dollars of merchandise, try again. The tall skinny lady then tells her to let me go, my family comes here a lot, blah blah blah, then she rapidly bags my stuff and shoves it into me as if I'm about to do something to them. Bruh, I'm standing there calm the entire time, with my phone in my hand looking for the picture of my I.D. and I'm talking at a very calm tone because I don't feel the need to get crazy over a situation like this or get aggressive with a lady old enough to be my grandmother. Moral of this review is this was no mistake. She didn't forget to ask for my I.D., she knew good and damn well I didn't have my I.D. on me when I walked in because all I had was my phone & the card in my hand the entire time. She blatantly asked if it was a credit card before the purchase, that was the time to ask if I had an I.D. as well. The point is, if she'd try to scam me right in my face, and get paid twice for my merchandise then she could of easily been double charging or scanning the same item twice every here and there this entire time, which is why they seem so pricey. I been coming here for yearssssssssss , over 10 years! This new male owner is not it. And I will never return even though it's a few blocks away. I rather drive 5-10 extra mins to go somewhere that does cheat you out of money ! I went asking for a particular hair, the guy advised what hair he thought it was and I purchased it. Turned out not to be the correct hair and they do a no return no exchange policy. I spoke with him and he advised I can exchange for equal or more value hair. I grabbed a different hair the would have been equal value and he did not return the 5 packs I initially got. He only did 4 so I had to pay out of pocket for the difference. I thought it was taxes but it was because he short me $15 which I didn't noticed until I got home. He should have triple check as well but didn't and I will no long do business here. Simply put: I love this place. Every time I've walked in, I'm always greeted and offered assistance in finding what I need. And they're always fully stocked with products. The last time I went, I picked out a few items from the same product line. And when I got to the counter, the nice girl who works here showed me a pack of the same products / same sizes that was actually less expensive than the individual items that I was going to purchase. I wish I could say I was making this last part up, but a third lady comes and removes the items from my hand in the guise of helping us to the check out ...but I was still shopping. The older gentlemen in the store preceded to follow me down every aisle in the store while I was browsing and trying to locate the products. Not once did he ask me if I needed assistance. I looked at a couple of cute hats that I thought would look nice and the moment I picked one up he decided to run to the door to barricade it as if I were going to "steal" the hat. I was in total shock because I realized what was happening. My best friend was with me and she witnessed it as well. I did not purchase anything from this store because my dignity is worth more than the $ I would have saved there.
