This is not the place to shop for Black hair care products. I live in the area, so I've been a customer just long enough to notice. The owners hire store attendants who are not knowledgeable on the products that they sell. If you need help, or ask questions, they appear lost and will suggest something random. And, the products that are sold here are indeed overpriced, you can find a better price at a store like Walmart, Target, or Amazon. The hair that they sell for wigs, sew-in's etc. is also poor quality. A lot of time I regret my purchase after coming here. FYI, you cannot legally require a customer to provide ID when completing a purchase, Visa and Mastercard prohibit this. That's a wild, discriminatory practice. If they ask, tell them no, and they still have to complete the purchase. To the owner: How can you morally profit from a predominantly Black customer base, while remaining ignorant of their hair care needs and simultaneously discriminate against them? Overall, it's a weirdly isolating and aggravating experience shopping here, but sadly, it's the most convenient when in a pinch. read more

Love this beauty supply, they always have what I need and a broad selection of it. I went in for hair dye, and they had so many choices for me to choose from. Definitely try to swing by when I am in the neighborhood, also the cashiers are always friendly as well! read more

Bixby Beauty Supply - Braid hair, edge control and curl product - Cosmetics & Beauty Supply Near Me - Long Beach, California

This is an updated review revised and updated since my last one was 7 years old. As always I'm in my tried and true favorite beauty supply store going on 15 plus years and this store almost always has what I need on this long continuous road of black hair care I need a lot to maintain this fro and Bixby Beauty Supply has it. Located in a huge lot near the Post Office across from House Of Pancakes. The staff at is nice and the store vibe is chill whatever you need they'll get it for you or you can browse and shop till you drop. My visit was for braiding hair Rast Afri is one I often choose it doesn't smell or hurt my fingers and the price is great more importantly for synthetic hair I trust using this brand I originally bought 3 packs ran out came back and bought 6 more for the next time I need it. Shampoo and Conditioner by far are the best finds in this store they have so many for all hair types my go to is Cream Of Nature or Cantu tried and true products that keep my hair soft and conditioned and I'm sure the brand you like is her as well. There are hair bonnets galore in here for black women and men if you know you know we keep our hair tied and secure at night this brand is my favorite because it fits my big head and stays on while I sleep. They have beads and a huge variety of hair art to choose from located at the back of the store perfect to add cuteness on braids or dreds. Store prices are reasonable it's a one stop shop of braiding hair bundles weave supplies regular hair care product wigs makeup eyewear salon supplies curling flat irons pressing combs and so much more. Come shop here! I despise using Amazon for my hair care especially crochet braids the stuff they send is trash I always send it back quality products are found in local stores not online. Check out this location in Bixby Knolls asap. Just me Shawn C. read more

This used to be my go-to beauty supply, but after today, they've officially lost me as a customer. I came in to exchange a product I bought just two days ago. I shop here often and have never had an issue, but this time the cashier wouldn't budge without a receipt -- even after I explained I'd literally just bought it here. Fine. I gave up, bought the correct product, and was ready to leave. Then, out of nowhere, another employee jumps into the conversation that was already over just to "remind me" of the policy -- dripping with attitude -- calling me "girl" like we were friends and sending me off with a "Girl, bye." Yes... she actually said that to a paying customer. At that point, it wasn't about the policy -- it was about the lack of basic respect. And I wasn't the only one noticing it. Another customer was also complaining about poor service while I was there. If this is the new staff and new standard, I'll gladly spend my money somewhere that values its customers. read more

Literally asked if I would be able to return razor if I didn't need it. She told me that I would be able to if package wasn't open. Went to make return (package not open) they changed their mind. Do not come here read more

Empty upon walking ,but the 2 young ladies were very helpful and even gave me a mini free set hair spray because of the Amount of Purchase I made. I always come here for my wigs (Due Tia car accident I was in) but, since I cut my hair short a few weeks ago I decided why not let's try something different. I wish I knew the girls names but Thank For helping me.. I fall Sunday (bummer ) the wigs are way shorter than my hair ,I called but no refunds or exchange all sales final in the wigs . Well it is what it is ..didn't change my experience the day before read more

I called ahead for Parnevu Leave-In conditioner and they said they carry it! I have been using this product for 10 years before it became impossible to find in person at physical stores and I have been searching for it ever since. Amazon has them listed at ridiculous prices and from untrusted sellers and I was eager to find any store that carried them. They were $4.95 each so I got 2 of the original containers and 1 different one. I have very porous and damaged hair from bleaching and I SWEAR by this stuff to heal it from the inside out and bring moisture back into it. Thank you ladies! You were very friendly and helpful and I will be back to support your store! read more

Yelp..has this business labeled Black Owned. But it is not. The service was ok. But she couldn't totally help me because she was busy trying to watch every one coming in the store. read more

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE COMING HERE! I feel so welcomed every time I come in. Very friendly staff and a great selection of beauty supplies. I love buying my extensions and wigs here. read more

I really like the African-American lady that waited on me. She was pleasant, happy and patient. I didn't have a huge selection of wigs, but we may do. I don't think I will return back, just because they didn't have what I was looking for and I had to compromise. But even that was my fault because I waited until the last minute! read more

Great of selection of products. Nice staff, can special order if needed. Good location.

Staff is extremely attentive and friendly. I was greeted upon entering and it wasn't until my second visit I was made aware of the rewards program that's the reason for the four stars. read more

This store sells synthetic hair and tries to pass it off as human hair. I paid over 70 dollars for 1 bundle of "human hair" and attempted to bleach and dye the hair, the hair did NOT lighten at all even after putting strong bleach on the hair. I informed the manager immediately and they did nothing about the hair, the money I paid and did NOT give me store credit at all. I brought the hair back in less than a week and they did not honor anything. Do not go to this store! You will be ripped off! read more

I love this place! I come here all the time for my wigs and the girls there are so sweet and helpful. They also have a rewards program which is cool since a lot of wig places that I know of don't have programs like that. The wig quality is great, I usually just get the synthetic lace fronts and they last me about a good month, but if you take good care of them I'm sure they could last even longer. I highly recommend. read more

After heading over to CVS and not being able to find a product that disinfects and lubricants hair clipper blades. I came across Bixby Beauty Suppy and they had just what I needed at a reasonable price. I really wanted to love my extensions but I'm so disappointed with the quality. I paid $130 for the Bobbi Boss Clip on 7pc 100% human hair extensions. They look very real and the color blends well but the extensions feel sticky and they get extremely tangled. I tried the care instructions on the back of the box to see if they would help but it did not. After one week of owning them, and wearing once, the clip stopped working and wouldn't snap so I had to come back and buy clips. Now another clip has stopped working so I had to replace another clip. read more

Extremely unprofessional and staff that are Unknowledgeable about pricing and products. I asked one of the ladies who worked for bixby beauty in regards about pricing on the echo gel products. I noticed this beauty supply supply is over charging for the echo gel in the " olive & Shea butter with black castor oil & flaxseed" . All the other ones are priced way below I've attached pictures below of how they are charging. It wasn't nuts off by a dollar amount they are charging 3$ more " $6.99" for the 8oz when all the other ones are priced at "$3.99" I think it's unfair and such a shame to scam ppl who aren't paying attention to the price ! read more

I just got fired from here the other day due to me requesting 5 days off of work to take care of my mother and her 2 year old toddler because she's having abdominal surgery. I'm 17, and my mom is having surgery out of the county, so of course i would have to go with my mother. the owner had asked me if i could stay with relatives after i profusely explained to him that my mom has having surgery, and needs help and needs to be taken care of, along with her 2year old son. In the interview, I told the owner that my mom would be having surgery, and that I would be needing those days off. he said we would talk about it, but i didn't think it would lead to me getting fired. I just want to make you all aware that if you come in the store to shop at 6:55 (when the store closes at 7) that the employees might not be getting payed, as we don't receive payment after 7, and before 10. The owner told me that I was using this job as a "Social Club" because I would conduct small talk with my coworkers. We weren't allowed to talk read more

I really like this beauty supply store. Every time I go here, I am able to find what I am looking for! They sell hair, wigs, cosmetics and pretty much all of your hair care needs. The staff is helpful and available to assist with any questions you may have. The store is easy to navigate and well organized. I was able to find Aunt Jackie's hair products which was a major plus for me!! Make sure you sign up for their rewards program, especially if you end up going there a lot. Prices are very reasonable. read more

Been here once before but came back again. Overall experience was GREAT! As me and other ladies took our time finding the "right" wig and hair lol. The young girl that hello us was patient and without hesitation would go to the back to get the wigs for us to try on. Even the store manager was cool and they both gave their opinions or suggestions when I asked. They had a sale going on when I made my purchase of 20% off all hair. I ended up going with the brand Onyx and I attached a picture. Will definitely be back! read more

My worst experience in a beauty supply store. I stopped by looking for crochet individuals, I was told by Lupe they only had a few left up front in a box that were half price because they only had a few colors left. I go to the register to pay Genesis she ring them up for 4.99. I said that's not half of 8.49, she turns the box around and says there 4.99. I said no the other lady said they were half price. I was told come back tomorrow talk to the manager. I go today the manager say if she say she told me that the. She would honor it. She claims she called Lupe on the phone and she said she did not tell me that. I said really I'm come and tell you that lye for .75 off a pack of hair and she got loud with me. I said of course she going to tell you that to protect her job. The situation really was not handled professionally therefore I will take my beauty needs somewhere else. read more

My previous experiences at this store was good but this last time I came not only did they not have what I was looking for the manager was staring at me following me around like i was going steal something. Did not greet me but followed me . The other employee did greet me. The moral of this story is I WILL NEVER COME BACK not all black people steal. read more

I went to this beauty supply simply based on reviews. I am from Florida so a lot of the places I visit are based on yelp reviews. I drove 45 mins from my house to visit this shop that has no variety. Believe everything you read and hear about this place. It is absolutely awesome! But customer service is by far the best I've seen in a very long time. And you know how beauty supply shops can be. I bought human hair for braiding at 59.99 per pack for 20 inches. And, the hair was blonde. Now you know how expensive it is when you need anything longer than 18 inches - and blonde at that! What a steal! In San Diego, the hair goes for $150 easy. Definitely check this place out. You WILL NOT be disappointed. read more

I love this store. This is a family owned store which has great products. The best thing is that the staff is very friendly and knowlegeable. I would recommend this beauty store to friends and family. Customer Service: Outstanding customers service. The staff greeted me as soon as I entered the store and both employees were very knowledgeable as far as the different hair care lines sold. The owner/manager offered me a complimentary cold drink as I shopped because it was a hot California day. The customer service alone was enough to make me a loyal customer. After coming from Seattle where many of the Black Beauty stores are Korean owned and the owners used to follow me around like I was going to steal I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service. Inventory: Product wise Bixby Beauty Supply has an extensive inventory of black hair care products and perms. Including smaller niche brands. They also have a wide variety of human hair extensions. Overall: My experience was positive and though I live in Irvine about a 1hr drive from Long Beach I have selected Bixby as my #1 beauty supply store. read more

I've been going to this beauty supply for years & it literally is my go to!!!! But today it was different and it sucks. I walked in and there was two younger ladies working the counter that I've never seen before and there was no greeting whatsoever. I'm walking around the store picking up things and looking at my list on my phone. The younger Hispanic girl was just standing at the opening where the hot comb case is and was just staring at me. I can see if she asked if I had any questions or if I needed help but no, she just stood there staring at me as if I was going to steal. I had three items in my hand and I put them on the shelf in front of me and walked out. I was going to this beauty supply when Junie was working there years ago!! Even so, there is another woman who works there & has been since I can remember. She always makes me feel welcome and is always sweet and professional. This trip was nothing like what I've been used to compared to the years I've been coming here & it sucks. Amazing products and majority of the staff is friendly but once you have that one experience, it's hard to overlook. The stars are for the years. read more

Very nice beauty supply place.....I have passed this placed for years because I never thought they would carry products for african american hair.....I WAS SO WRONG they have the best selection and they understand the products as well. This was a 17 mile drive for me and worth it. When I walked into the shop I was surprised to see that it was smaller than expected, but that was okay. I found what I was looking for. A young girl helped me pick out some things and the nice woman behind the counter who rung me up gave me a full size product as a freebie (I asked if she had any samples and she was out). She also took my hand and rubbed it when she discovered they were out. So kind and appreciative of their customers (except for the man doing inventory; not so much). But a very good experience. This will be my go-to shop from now on. read more
