Genesis House of Tea is 'restoring Dignity' (Dignitea) for a little play on words, if you will…read more I like to support a "mission that provides hope and healing for women who need a new chapter in their story". The Tea House has a mission of helping with just that. Several months ago, I listened in amazement to the sweetest voice explain to me as I was told of what took place here centuries ago. This very home was used as a place where young girls would be sent during an unwanted pregnancy, only for many to meet fates less than wonderful for themselves. Snooty parents would bring their holier-than-thou daughters to sneer and stare, and laugh and poke fun at these tortured souls. This was the way these uppity mothers taught their children that this is not the best example in life. Of course we all know this to be true, but all those girls at the home had feelings of shame already. Add the pitied stares by the mothers, the sneers and laughs aimed in their faces and you have a horrible recipe. The girls at the home should have been respected instead of used as an example, a joke. Built by Jarret Dent, Dent House is the last standing antebellum home in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The mansion is a c1854, 165-year-old converted Tea House now with its own attached parking lot, and is located amidst the Bonny Oaks Arboretum with circular-patterned cobblestone walkways. There is also a Carriage House, which is a shopper's paradise. Offerings include: * Appetizers * Charcuterie * Soups, Salads and Sandwiches * Afternoon Tea * 4-course Tea Lunch * Candlelit Dinners * Special Events * Private Parties The 'Afternoon Tier' or small one-half plate called 'A Taste of Tea' comprises most of their popular selections such as chicken salad, deviled egg, little cucumber finger sandwiches, and basil pesto tomato crostinis. The charcuterie and salads are what we went for and they were delicious. There is so much to choose from, I need to go back again soon to try some other menu items. A separate 'Sweets Menu', a 'Kids Menu', plus more than two-dozen lovely hot or cold teas to choose from round out the offerings from the menus. Genesis House of Tea is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm and they are closed Sunday. Don't miss out on visiting the Arboretum after your lunch because it's very beautifully designed whether it's the Spring season where the flowers are starting to bloom, are already in full Summer bloom, or when the flowers take on interesting seeding in the Fall. No matter when you go, each season is complete with color. *****FIVE FABULOUS STARS!!!!!*****

We chose the Sencha Kyoto Cherry Rose tea (they have variety of teas to choose from). Our servers were very attentive and the ambience was lovely. For those seeking tools for tea preparation and serving, you'll find a noteworthy assortment of tools here, too. You can tell how much passion and dedication has been put into the products sold here. The staff have also been very helpful and knowledgeable in any product I've had a question about. I enjoy visiting mainly for their teas, but I have also been impressed by their large selection of delicious spices and infused sugars. They also offer a Tea Bar. You can order and enjoy a fresh brewed tea while you shop or just take it to go. A year prior,  I became addicted to a seasonally offered tea blend; their banana nut muffin herbal tea. It's so good! On a recent visit, I learned that they actually carry the tea blend for their Tea Bar. I am so happy that I was able to enjoy a cuppa of my favorite tea without having to wait for Fall to roll around. This place has become one of my favorite establishments in the area. Go check them out!

Stopped by while I'm town visiting friends because sadly there isn't a location in Atlanta. The employee that helped us was incredibly kind and made great recommendations based on what we were looking for. I got the Beauty Rest sleepy time tea per her recommendations and I am obsessed! They also carry my all time favorite matcha powder, the Sweet Matcha. Everything I have tried so far has been delicious and I can't wait to come back in town and stock up.

While visiting Chattanooga for the first time, I was craving something sweet that wasn't too far from my downtown hotel. This place was only a block away, so I thought, "What the heck, let's try it!" Let me tell you, they did not disappoint! From the welcoming staff to the adorable dessert display, the entire place had such a warm,l and cutesy vibe. They had so many cupcake flavors that choosing was honestly the hardest part! I finally went with two Lemon Drops, one Wedding Cake, and one Cookie Dough. The cupcakes were moist, soft, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. They were so good that when I later spotted their stand at the Kent State game, I immediately bought two more Lemon Drops! Even my mom raved about them, and trust me, she is picky! I only wish they were closer to home or shipped their cupcakes because I would be first in line to order. Chattanooga, you definitely have a gem! If you're ever in the area, this place is a MUST. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

We ordered the veggie omelette and the Broadbent omelette, and both were generously filled with fresh, well-balanced ingredients. Nothing overpowered anything else. Instead of relying on heavy spices or sauces, the flavors came naturally from the quality and proportion of the ingredients themselves. The sourdough toast was exceptional, with a crisp crust and great texture, and my cappuccino was exactly what I hoped for--smooth, balanced, and expertly made. The setting was just as enjoyable. Housed in a beautifully restored historic train station, the atmosphere has genuine character that complements the food rather than trying to distract from it. A breakfast that's driven by quality ingredients instead of gimmicks. I would gladly return and highly recommend it.

Knowledgeable, showed genuine concern, and were able to make accommodations without a lot of back-and-forth. Good selection on the menu meant we weren't working from a short list of options either. Food was good across both visits--consistent, which matters as much as a single great meal. My son particularly liked the Brunch Sausage Burger. Looked good, and seemed entirely appropriate after a late night. Large space, tables well spread out, and located not far from downtown. Easy place to settle in whether you're with a crowd or just the two of you. Good for: small kids, business meals, casual meals, groups Would come back. Already did once.
