When the initial resizing was still too loose, John made sure it was right and resized it to the perfect length. He used a high tech laser to cut and weld the links and then polished them. One call to John and I knew I had found a treasure. Labradorite can be fragile, but John is a skilled artist and had the equipment to safely repair the band without damaging the stone. We went to see John to get my wedding and engagement rings re-sized and then also had him make us a wedding band for my (now) husband. My rings are perfect, seamless and sparkling, and the one he made for the groom is so beautiful that he put it on several weeks before our wedding and didn't want to take it off! We asked for a simple men's curved band, but he suggested to add a hammered finish, which is absolutely stunning; it catches the light like a faceted jewel. John is a true artist and a master of his craft, and he's a super down-to-earth and very cool human to boot. My partner and I brought in two simple gold bands -- heirlooms, but plain ones -- in to be resized. We'd imagined we'd go for a walk around the neighborhood while we waited, but John invited us to stick around and watch him work, and I'm so glad we did. For one, we were obviously curious so he explained every step he took, and told great stories in the in-between time. John did a beautiful job of repairing the broken bands on my platinum rings. I had previously used a well-rated jewelry store for this purpose but they send out the work. John has the laser in his workshop to do the work himself and let me observe as he did it. He filed the welds and polished the rings so they looked amazing.
