Great place to get tattoos! Staff here here friendly the environment is welcoming. Had JJ do a spine tattoo for me and I couldn't be happier with the result. Process lasted a couple hours (as expected), and very nicely took photos for me every once in a while so I could see the progress LOL. Would totally recommend this place! read more

Been coming to this shop since 2010 and it never disappoints. Freddi was able to accommodate a next day appointment for me and when i arrived, I had a change of plans as far as what I wanted to get. Without hesitation he looked at what I wanted and drew up a beautiful design. He made sure I was comfortable the entire time and took his time to make sure it came out how I wanted it. I'm very pleased with the end result and will definitely be reaching out to Freddi for future pieces! read more

Todays my birthday, all I wanted was a simple tattoo. As a single mother of 2 it's very hard for me to make time for myself. W that said I scheduled this at least a week in advance, was told the earlier the better. Set it up for 10 am. I get there no one is there. I wait outside for a bit then text him that I'm outside and he texts me back that he would be there in 45 minutes due to an emergency at 10 am ? Okay cool. Just got back from getting a tat by Chono. He did an awesome job. The shop is clean, the guys are cool. He doesn't bullshit you. I went in yesterday to talk to him about my tattoo. My friends recommendation. Chono didn't have time to do my tattoo yesterday but came in early this morning to draw my design and my tattoo. I would recommend this shop to anyone. **This review is mainly about my tattoo experience, no clue about how well they do piercings (however, from what I can remember they do everything including dermal implants)** "A good tattoo ain't cheap, and a cheap tattoo ain't good." - anon If it weren't for my friend Bones, I would have NEVER heard of this tattoo studio. I was very impressed with their professionalism, comfortable environment, and the amazing talent that work here. The artist who did my audrey kawasaki 'allure' piece is Dennis, and he is overflowing with sheer talent with the control and expertise of an old professional. He's been doing tattoos for over 11years, split between doing them in the Philippines and here in San Jose. I was in awe with his work & not just with what he's done on my body but others' as well. My friend Bones got his tribal arm piece by him, and the detailing on it was proof that I was in very good hands. I came in around 2pm on March 1st - this was my first time coming into the shop since all the scheduling and transactions were done through Bones. To be honest, I was a little intimidated coming here alone but the warm welcome I received from the front desk helped to calm my nerves. I was directed towards the back where Dennis' station was, and the spot where we formally introduced ourselves. I showed him what I wanted, and he got down to sketching it right away while I dwindled my time looking at his previous sketches and art work on the walls. To kill time, we exchanged superficial information (i.e. So how long have you been married? Where did you find the drawing for this? Is there a huge difference between your customers here and the ones from Philippines?). The other artists & employees in the studio were very kind, almost bordered on chivalric actually, and were super entertaining, which I thoroughly enjoyed being part of. I learned quite a few things while I laid there getting ink in my skin. A crowd gathered around, too, while he was working on me, so I wouldn't be surprised if people had some sort of 'upskirt' photo of me floating around the interwebs. However, that's the nature of having a tattoo positioned so close to your nether regions. My artist was thoughtful enough to cover me up as best as he could, so I'm not too worried about whatever photo-op my derriere may have participated in. So where did I decide to get this tattoo done on my body? I chose my thigh, mainly on the upper part of my right thigh. I have to admit though, the process of getting tattooed on that part of my body was more uncomfortable than painful. It wasn't until I got home and took off the bandage (or rather plastic saran wrap w/ masking tape for adhesive) after an hr+ did i really feel anything remotely resembling pain. It was insanely sensitive towards the TOP where the geisha's hair accessories are which contained a lot of tiny detail work (picture here: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/cITQxSomprY1sNy5L764Ig?select=ZBN93mxLj1-g4P_RBULC2g). After Dennis finished, I went straight for the mirror and doted on the fresh ink on my skin. It was instant LOVE at first sight! Though this review is based only on the outline that Dennis has done, I can already tell the rest of his work on this tattoo will be amazing. I am definitely coming back for the rest of the colors and details and updating this review with a bigger and better photo for everyone to see. Thank you for the pleasant experience! This is another one of Darius' shops. Just got another piece done by him. Had him re-do one of my other "bad" tattoo's. It's my dead sister's name, and he tweeked it and turned it into a masterpiece! I am so happy with my artwork. Darius is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. If you want real nice work done, hit him up! Call in advance cause he does have a lot of appointments, but he'll NEVER rush you. He spends a lot of TLC on each piece he does. This place is a lot bigger than "Da Undaground" on Story Rd. They have a flat screen TV if you want to watch movies or music videos to take your mind off the pain. ABsolutely comfortable and friendly environment. read more

I had called multiple places looking for a Tattoo the same day. Theresa was quick and efficient when answering the phone. I arrived an hour later. I was a little skeptical when I first walked in to see my tattoo artist Jay Jay but he quickly changed that perception with his professionalism. He broke down all my options. Giving me different designs and placement to put my new masterpiece. Once in the chair Jay Jay was both light on the pen and really made me feel at home. Definitely recommending him to anyone looking to get a tattoo done down town San Jose. This was my first time coming here by recommendation for Dee. Totally dope guy who knows his stuff with tattoos. I came in showing him what I wanted to put together and he helped me find the right design and put in his ideas to make it better. He was very nice and held conversation throughout the session - always making sure you were doing okay and walking through what he was doing. All the artists are friendly and very good at what they do. The shop is kept clean too. The location is in a tricky spot to find and parking isn't great either so you may have to walk a little but all in all it's not that big of a deal. Definitely will return - this was my first major detailed/big piece and I'm very impressed and in love with how it turned out! read more

I went here for my first tattoo and it got done by Fred and honestly i fell in love with my tattoo as soon as he showed me a drawing and the results were beyond amazing and also my boyfriend got his first and second tattoo done by Fred and the results are so much more better than the picture of the tattoo we wanted that we shown him. I won't go there again. One of the employees got done sweeping up and was getting ready to leave when he made the comment, "I'm going to drive high". This was just after some conversation about marijuana. I'm not being over sensitive or passing judgement on someone who wants to smoke a joint. But to brag and do something as reckless as that was stupid. If you go there don't even dare to look in the customer's bathroom. Absolutely disgusting. read more

First of all, amazing work from the artists working here. I started going to Ike last year from a friends recommendation and I haven't gone anywhere else since. In the last 8 months I have gotten 4 pieces done by Ike. He has also done 3 of my best friends. We all have different taste and he has been amazing at visualizing what each of our styles are and brings his art work to life on our skin. I have yet to recommend any other place thus far. I haven't gotten anything done from Chono, but I have seen his work done first hand and is also very versatile with the work he does. Both are very detail oriented and professional. The atmosphere is very open and easy going, and the personalities in the shop aren't overbearing like I have experienced in other locations. The small staff is a definite plus. I felt comfortable from the beginning and have yet to have a bad experience. Another plus is they do not overcharge just because they can. Their goal is not to take advantage of people, it's to give them exactly what they asked for and to leave happy. The area and shop is clean and there's great Mexican food right next door for you to spend your time if you're waiting for a sketch to be done. They don't waste your time either! Tip these guys well! Their work definitely deserves it. read more

Tiffany was very nice and patient. She made sure that I had all of the answers before proceeding with the tattooing. It's about an inch tattoo on my arm, so it only took like 15min. The pain was manageable without any numbing cream. It was more intense when tattooing over some scars. I followed Tiffany's instructions on after care and everything went smoothly. I still have a few touch ups and cross to add, but wow! So far, I'm already in love with my tattoo. I've gotten tons of compliments on the crisp lines and intricate details he did! He is a talented artist but his entire portfolio was black-work, and I wanted bright and bold colors. Luckily, Rodney called and we set up a consultation appointment. A week later, Rodney showed me three designs he had drawn that were exactly what I wanted - a large and colorful three-toed Japanese dragon with cherry blossoms that wrapped around my shoulder. They are always very friendly and accommodating for a walk-in appointment. The salon is hygienic and clean. They also have a very nice selection of gel polish colors, especially cateye colors. I recently had an ingrown toenail (my first ever in 33 years) after my latest visit but the owner was quick to help communicate this with the nail tech doing my pedicure so it doesn't happen again. This made me feel very understood and respected as a regular customer here. The owner also tries to remember the regulars at the salon and always offer a warm welcoming, which is very nice of her. They offer a discount for cash payments, but also accept Venmo (even for tips) while credit card has a small charge. I think their prices are very reasonable and definitely cheaper than the last salon I went to before switching to Pedi Nail Lounge. There is a large shared parking lot in front so plenty of parking nearby. I also like that there is a coffee shop (Blvd coffee), food spot (Chispiro's) and Lucky Grocery store right next door that makes the location extremely convenient for me. 5/5 , definitely recommend if you're looking for a new nail salon

I asked him for a bear ,, and he made me a fucking all deformed dog with 3 legs on one side ,,, and one leg on the other side ,, all deformed pines. So I did not recieve any notice that there tattoo artist was leaving to Brazil? It was a frustrating experience dealing with the unprofessional and unpleasant staff that works there.Finally weeks later I got a hold of the artist only to be let down once again. He had no art drawn up and had me sit in the lobby for 1 hour. I finally told him the ordeal I had been put threw with the shop and how much my time was wasted. He replied yup I am just looking for reciept book to make sure you put a deposit! I at that point asked for money back which they did which is the only thing wright they did.If you want lose time and self respect go to this guys .Oh and personal hygiene is not on top of there list. the artist looked like shit and smelled of it. read more

I've only been here for piercings, but all the staff made me feel really welcome. They have a book of piercings that has pictures and info about them so I thought that was really informative. I had Lalo pierce me and ear piercings were $25 and any other was $40. Even though the prices are really cheap, they had quality jewelry and were clean and professional. Lalo has since moved to SoCal, but I will be coming back soon to get more piercings from their other staff, I'll post the update soon! read more

I am very much impressed with my first experience at the Underground Creations Tattoo Shop. Very comfortable environment, friendly staff and a very clean place. The artist who did my tattoo is Darius. He is very good at what he does, as you can see the result of his work by checking out the pic on the left . He also gave me his cell phone number so I could send him ideas as well as get a rough craft sketch from him before I came into get the tattoo itself on Saturday. The process of getting inked was actually very comfortable considering how nervous I was. Tony is very patient and offers numbing creme for clients who are nervous like I was. He even sat down to say hi to me at the milk tea place next door while I was waiting for the numbing creme to take effect. Getting the tattoo printed on my body hurt a lot less than expected and was over in an hour. The needles he used were also a lot quieter than ones I've seen in the past. My tattoo was done in less than an hour and I'm extremely satisfied with the end result as it looks exactly like what I had in mind. He did a really great job of bringing my vision to life! To be honest, I would look at other peoples work to see if there was a specific hanya mask I liked, and I could not find one. Anyways then came one random day where Tony had hit me up to get some work done on instragram (@artistic_tony), letting me know he had a deal. So that was a great push for me to check out what he was all about. Came in for a price quote, and found out he was the same gentleman that had previously worked on a few of my friends tattoo's in the past. So I immediately had confidence that he would draw a pretty dope hanya mask for me and you know what he did? He drew me a dope @$$ hanya mask. Went through outlining, color, background. It turned out AWESOME. Tony is very friendly and great to talk to and listens to exactly what you want in your tattoo. Definitely will be returning to get more work done in the future with Tony!
