Without hesitation he looked at what I wanted and drew up a beautiful design. He made sure I was comfortable the entire time and took his time to make sure it came out how I wanted it. Todays my birthday, all I wanted was a simple tattoo. As a single mother of 2 it's very hard for me to make time for myself. W that said I scheduled this at least a week in advance, was told the earlier the better. Set it up for 10 am. I get there no one is there. I wait outside for a bit then text him that I'm outside and he texts me back that he would be there in 45 minutes due to an emergency at 10 am ? Okay cool. Not waiting for 45 minutes outside in the cold for an appointment I scheduled in advance. this place was actually recommended to me and that just makes me laugh. Happy birthday to me. SMH read more

**This review is mainly about my tattoo experience, no clue about how well they do piercings (however, from what I can remember they do everything including dermal implants)** "A good tattoo ain't cheap, and a cheap tattoo ain't good." - anon If it weren't for my friend Bones, I would have NEVER heard of this tattoo studio. I was very impressed with their professionalism, comfortable environment, and the amazing talent that work here. The artist who did my audrey kawasaki 'allure' piece is Dennis, and he is overflowing with sheer talent with the control and expertise of an old professional. He's been doing tattoos for over 11years, split between doing them in the Philippines and here in San Jose. I was in awe with his work & not just with what he's done on my body but others' as well. My friend Bones got his tribal arm piece by him, and the detailing on it was proof that I was in very good hands. I came in around 2pm on March 1st - this was my first time coming into the shop since all the scheduling and transactions were done through Bones. To be honest, I was a little intimidated coming here alone but the warm welcome I received from the front desk helped to calm my nerves. I was directed towards the back where Dennis' station was, and the spot where we formally introduced ourselves. I showed him what I wanted, and he got down to sketching it right away while I dwindled my time looking at his previous sketches and art work on the walls. To kill time, we exchanged superficial information (i.e. So how long have you been married? Where did you find the drawing for this? Is there a huge difference between your customers here and the ones from Philippines?). The other artists & employees in the studio were very kind, almost bordered on chivalric actually, and were super entertaining, which I thoroughly enjoyed being part of. I learned quite a few things while I laid there getting ink in my skin. A crowd gathered around, too, while he was working on me, so I wouldn't be surprised if people had some sort of 'upskirt' photo of me floating around the interwebs. However, that's the nature of having a tattoo positioned so close to your nether regions. My artist was thoughtful enough to cover me up as best as he could, so I'm not too worried about whatever photo-op my derriere may have participated in. So where did I decide to get this tattoo done on my body? I chose my thigh, mainly on the upper part of my right thigh. I have to admit though, the process of getting tattooed on that part of my body was more uncomfortable than painful. It wasn't until I got home and took off the bandage (or rather plastic saran wrap w/ masking tape for adhesive) after an hr+ did i really feel anything remotely resembling pain. It was insanely sensitive towards the TOP where the geisha's hair accessories are which contained a lot of tiny detail work (picture here: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/cITQxSomprY1sNy5L764Ig?select=ZBN93mxLj1-g4P_RBULC2g). After Dennis finished, I went straight for the mirror and doted on the fresh ink on my skin. It was instant LOVE at first sight! Though this review is based only on the outline that Dennis has done, I can already tell the rest of his work on this tattoo will be amazing. I am definitely coming back for the rest of the colors and details and updating this review with a bigger and better photo for everyone to see. Thank you for the pleasant experience! Underground Creations is truly as good as it gets! read more

This is another one of Darius' shops. Just got another piece done by him. Had him re-do one of my other "bad" tattoo's. It's my dead sister's name, and he tweeked it and turned it into a masterpiece! I am so happy with my artwork. Darius is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. If you want real nice work done, hit him up! Call in advance cause he does have a lot of appointments, but he'll NEVER rush you. He spends a lot of TLC on each piece he does. This place is a lot bigger than "Da Undaground" on Story Rd. They have a flat screen TV if you want to watch movies or music videos to take your mind off the pain. ABsolutely comfortable and friendly environment. read more

I had called multiple places looking for a Tattoo the same day. Theresa was quick and efficient when answering the phone. I arrived an hour later. I was a little skeptical when I first walked in to see my tattoo artist Jay Jay but he quickly changed that perception with his professionalism. He broke down all my options. Giving me different designs and placement to put my new masterpiece. Once in the chair Jay Jay was both light on the pen and really made me feel at home. Definitely recommending him to anyone looking to get a tattoo done down town San Jose. This was my first time coming here by recommendation for Dee. Totally dope guy who knows his stuff with tattoos. I came in showing him what I wanted to put together and he helped me find the right design and put in his ideas to make it better. He was very nice and held conversation throughout the session - always making sure you were doing okay and walking through what he was doing. All the artists are friendly and very good at what they do. The shop is kept clean too. The location is in a tricky spot to find and parking isn't great either so you may have to walk a little but all in all it's not that big of a deal. Definitely will return - this was my first major detailed/big piece and I'm very impressed and in love with how it turned out! read more

I won't go there again. One of the employees got done sweeping up and was getting ready to leave when he made the comment, "I'm going to drive high". This was just after some conversation about marijuana. I'm not being over sensitive or passing judgement on someone who wants to smoke a joint. But to brag and do something as reckless as that was stupid. If you go there don't even dare to look in the customer's bathroom. Absolutely disgusting. read more

First of all, amazing work from the artists working here. I started going to Ike last year from a friends recommendation and I haven't gone anywhere else since. In the last 8 months I have gotten 4 pieces done by Ike. He has also done 3 of my best friends. We all have different taste and he has been amazing at visualizing what each of our styles are and brings his art work to life on our skin. I have yet to recommend any other place thus far. I haven't gotten anything done from Chono, but I have seen his work done first hand and is also very versatile with the work he does. Both are very detail oriented and professional. The atmosphere is very open and easy going, and the personalities in the shop aren't overbearing like I have experienced in other locations. The small staff is a definite plus. I felt comfortable from the beginning and have yet to have a bad experience. Another plus is they do not overcharge just because they can. Their goal is not to take advantage of people, it's to give them exactly what they asked for and to leave happy. The area and shop is clean and there's great Mexican food right next door for you to spend your time if you're waiting for a sketch to be done. They don't waste your time either! Tip these guys well! Their work definitely deserves it. read more

the truth is that I am not doing this type of publication ... but they sucked at tatoo. I came and I said I want your tattoo I gave him the design he told me I conro 450 ... according to him he showed me some tattoos that he had done ... and I said no because he knows how to draw well no, it was what I believed ... well, normal, I started to draw ... the first pine, and not everything was going well ... when all the ink started to drip ... and I said go deep with this screw, ,, and I told the vato and tells me everything is fine, now that it dries I will put the touch-up and it will be right ... because it was my first tattoo ,,, I thought that asshole knew what he was doing ... I asked him for a bear ,, and he made me a fucking all deformed dog with 3 legs on one side ,,, and one leg on the other side ,, all deformed pines. I make this publication ,,, not to screw them, but so that when they go and see that one of these assholes ,,, he is dripping with all the ink ,,, tell him that I am failing and it does not happen to you ,,, what happened to me to me,,, ... la verdad es que no soy de hacer este tipo de publicaciones ... pero que asco de tatoo me hicieron . yo llegue y le dije quiero ueste tatuaje le di el diseño me dijo te conro 450 ... segun el me mostro unos tatujes que el habia echo.. y yo dije no pues chido sabe dibujar bien no,,, fue lo que yo crei... pues normal me empezo a dibujar... el primer pino ,, y todo iva bien no... cuando se le empezo a chorrear toda la tinta... y dije que honda con esta chingadera,, y le dije al vato y me dice todo esta bien, haora que se seque le voya poner el retoque y va quedar bien derecho... pues hera mi primer tatuaje ,,, crei que ese pendejo sabia lo que hacia... le pedi un oso,, y me hizo un pinche perro todo deforme con 3 patas de un lado,,, y una pata del otro lado,, todo los pinos deformes. hago esta publicacion ,,, no para joderlos si no para que cuando vayan y miren que un pendejo de estos,,, se le esta chorreando toda la tinta,,, le digas que pedo y no te pase,,, lo que me paso ami,,, ... read more

So I did not recieve any notice that there tattoo artist was leaving to Brazil? It was a frustrating experience dealing with the unprofessional and unpleasant staff that works there. Finally weeks later I got a hold of the artist only to be let down once again. He had no art drawn up and had me sit in the lobby for 1 hour. I finally told him the ordeal I had been put threw with the shop and how much my time was wasted. He replied yup I am just looking for reciept book to make sure you put a deposit! I at that point asked for money back which they did which is the only thing wright they did.If you want lose time and self respect go to this guys .Oh and personal hygiene is not on top of there list. the artist looked like shit and smelled of it. read more

I've only been here for piercings, but all the staff made me feel really welcome. They have a book of piercings that has pictures and info about them so I thought that was really informative. I had Lalo pierce me and ear piercings were $25 and any other was $40. Even though the prices are really cheap, they had quality jewelry and were clean and professional. Lalo has since moved to SoCal, but I will be coming back soon to get more piercings from their other staff, I'll post the update soon! read more

I am very much impressed with my first experience at the Underground Creations Tattoo Shop. Very comfortable environment, friendly staff and a very clean place. The artist who did my tattoo is Darius. He is very good at what he does, as you can see the result of his work by checking out the pic on the left . I have gotten a lot of compliments from others who have seen my tattoo. I am planning on having another tattoo done soon and I will definitely look for Darius. read more

The walls were adorned with beautiful, ancient-inspired drawings and posters that immediately captured my attention. I was warmly greeted by two artists, one of whom was the owner, Thien. I shared my tattoo idea with him, but he gently explained that it wasn't quite aligned with his personal style. Disappointed, I turned to leave--until Thien introduced me to the other artist he had been speaking with. This artist sat down with me, listened intently to my vision, and began searching through images on his iPad that perfectly resonated with what I had in mind. (Unbeknownst to me at the time, he wasn't just assisting Thien--he was a highly skilled tattoo artist himself.) Having come to America from Vietnam as a young adult, he discovered his passion for tattooing and sought guidance from seasoned artists on how to begin. That journey led him to study academic drawing, where he immersed himself in the world of Greek mythology. When he showed me the artwork he created during that period, I was truly stunned--his technical skill and artistic vision were extraordinary. The artist Thien introduced me to is Tai, a true specialist in realism. In over 20 years of getting tattoos, I have never met an artist quite like Tai. Unlike my previous experiences, where I simply provided a reference photo, Tai took a deeply personal and professional approach. He conducted his own research, regularly texted me thoughtful image suggestions, and carefully curated concepts that captured the essence of my idea. This level of dedication and artistry is what I admire most about him. When he presented the final layout for my tattoo--"Hades, Ruler of the Underworld, with his three-headed guardian Cerberus"--positioned perfectly on my leg, I was speechless. The composition, detail, and elegance were beyond anything I had imagined. Tai, this is by far the most elegant, beautifully detailed, and breathtaking piece of art on my body. I am incredibly grateful to have met you and to have placed my trust in your hands. I look forward to our future collaborations and the remarkable creations you will undoubtedly bring to life. You are a true master of your craft--a tattoo genius mastermind.

The detail in the eagle's wings, the shading on the globe, and the banner with Semper Fidelis look unreal. The placement is perfect and the artwork looks bold, clean, and meaningful. Not only is the tattoo beautiful, but the whole experience was solid. Professional, patient, and focused the entire time, especially on a spot that surprised me with how much it hurt. He made sure I was comfortable and checked in throughout the session. If you want someone who respects the meaning behind your tattoo and has the skill to elevate it, this is the artist you want. I'm proud of this piece every time I look at it. I will be coming back for another tattoo real soon. Semper Fi.

I was so caught off guard and honestly so upset that this person is still actively piercing people that we left and didn't get our tattoos.
