I would try some here and there and was never happy with the cut. For important events I would suck it up and make the long drive to my old barber shop. Gave Nick's a try since my other barber was booked. I was not disappointed with the service. It is a small shop, only two chairs, and it was pretty hard to find because I drove past it without even knowing. Dave cut my hair and even though I was a few minutes late he did not rush through the cut. He seemed pretty focused on details and was very open to comments and my suggestions of "a little more here" and "a bit shorter there". I've honestly never felt that comfortable with a barber right off the bat. The phone did ring off the hook and since Dave was the only one in the shop we had to pause multiple times. He made sure everything was to my satisfaction. At the end of the cut, the finishing touches were the hot shaving cream for the back of the cut and a skin toner. For $18 a cut, I will definitely be going back.
